The fuel system was causing my engine to shut down, and I got it replaced at a mechanic. About some time later, after fixing the fuel system, I received a letter from BMW telling me that they had extended the warranty on the Fuel tank, but when I took it in, they said that there was no such extended warranty. The letter is from April 2022, but I just recently found it.

The contact owns a 2018 BMW 320I. The contact stated that while driving 55 MPH, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. The message Engine coolant system, coolant pump outside of speed tolerance" and code 20A701 was displayed. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate, and the contact drove 8 MPH back to the residence. A fuel-burning odor was on the interior and exterior of the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, while her husband was driving, the failure reoccurred. The contact's husband arrived at the residence and became aware that the water pump had failed and was no longer functioning as intended. Upon further investigation, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V907000 (FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL). However, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired and was parked at the residence. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHSTA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 84,000.

• What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The plastic fuel tank failed and developed a leak. Yes, the tank is available for inspection upon request. • How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? A leaking fuel tank poses a serious fire and explosion hazard, especially when the vehicle is operating or parked near heat sources. Gasoline fumes were noticeable, creating an increased risk of ignition and exposure to toxic vapors. • Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. The problem was confirmed by an independent mechanic, who verified the leak in the fuel tank. • Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The vehicle has not yet been inspected by BMW or other officials. Only an independent mechanic has inspected it so far. • Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes. A check engine light appeared shortly before the failure. In addition, a strong smell of gasoline was noticed, followed by visible leaking fuel. There is an open recall on the BMW F30 BMW 320i, production date 2013 to 2018, production dates July 02, 2012 to March 23, 2018 for the “plastic fuel tank.” I own a 2018 BMW 320i, manufactured April 2018 which is not included in the recall for the “plastic fuel tank.” However, I noticed a gasoline smell and the fuel tank is leaking. Upon further research, inspection and after notifying a mechanic, the fuel tank for my vehicle is the exact same one as the plastic fuel tank indicated in the BMW recall. My production date is a week later than the recall production date, but the fuel tank is the same exact fuel tank that has been recalled. The vehicle has developed a serious safety defect in the plastic fuel tank, which is leaking gasoline and emitting fumes.

The gas tank on my BMW 320i 4 door sedan is leaking gas. Yes; it is available for inspection upon request. I had picked up my son from school and ran an errand. We stopped for gas when we noticed the gas was leaking as soon as we filled up the tank. We were around the corner from our home and drove home very slow. We were prepared to stop and pull over if necessary as we were afraid of the vehicle catching fire. I have an appointment with Niello BMW at 8am on 9/22/25 in Sacramento, CA on Fulton Ave. There were no warning lamps/messages or other symptoms prior to the issue. I never received any recall notification.

Gas tank began leaking from top of blind flange, similar to other extended warranties (SIB 01 03 22 and SIB 01 07 22). BMW is refusing to cover my specific model year (I have sent letters requesting reimbursement and called multiple times). It created an explosion hazard in my garage. Had mechanic repair, I do not have part. Cost $2,000 for new tank that will probably develop same issue. There were no warning lamps.

The contact owns a 2015 BMW 320I. The contact stated that after his wife had refueled the vehicle, he noticed that the vehicle was leaking fuel on the driver's side rear. There was a puddle of fuel on the ground. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact called an independent mechanic who stated that the failure was due to the pressurized fuel system. The contact called the local dealer and was informed that there were no recalls on the VIN. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 145,000.

My 2018 bmw 320 stalls and cuts off when I come to a stop. Very dangerous. It has cut off in the middle of the road. I have checked online to see if this is a common issue. Other bmw owners have reported this same issue. There has been a recall on other bmw models with this same issue from 2014-2018 for fuel system and fuel pump that may cause this issue. Letters were sent out I. January of 2022. My 2018 bmw 320si has not been included in this recall for some odd reason. When car shuts off a warning message appears on screen. One message states “transmission not in park.” Or “drivetrain malfunction”. This began to happen on November 2022. I have taken my vehicle to two dealers. One was an independent repair shop and the other was a bmw service center. Both reported issues with fuel pump that would cause this problem.

I have been getting P0420 code over 2 years now. Loss of power while driving caused multiple times sudden stop and slow speed. I328 has recall but mine is not on the recall list. I tried everything to fix it but the light still comes on. And also my car is having the Navigation display delaminating. It seems like common problem for bmw owners. There are no recalls.

My car shut off on the highway due to my fuel pump delivery system . My gauge is not reading I have enough gas leading me to believe I had gas in my car until it completely shut off . I was able to safely get my car out of the road due to the fact it was early morning and very minimal cars were on the road . I also now currently as well have an issue with the engine, coolant and oil having a leak . According to bmw I need to completely change my intake manifold there is too much leakage and just changing certain components won’t fix it . The whole things needs to be removed and replaced. Once I crank my car up within 10 seconds you can see the smoke start to build up under the hood . I’m pretty sure if I leave it running it will catch fire it’s thick white smoke and it has melted something silver inside as u can see the silver is now black due to it burning .So I write this due to me doing research as to what could have caused these issue and I see there is a recall for the same vin but my not specific car . I anm having the EXACT same issues with my car as the recall. I have 3 of the issues that the recall is for but my model I guess is not included. also have lighting issues .. my back lights tend to work when they want according to pep boys a board of some sort needs to be replaced because the bulbs will not stay in place . Is there a way to add my model to the recall list as it needs to be fixed my car is not operational at this time due to the risk of a fire under the hood

On July 4, 2023, my kids and I were in Tifton, GA shopping. My car just cut off in the middle of the road. The only way I could get it to turn back on was by turning the car completely off and then turning the car back on. I was in the middle of the road and almost got run over. My car had gas in it and wasn't acting up prior to this happening. I believe that this problem has to do with the fuel pump which causes an engine failure. Also, my parking sensors are not working properly anymore as well.

BMW released a SIB 01 03 22 Plastic Fuel Tank (B58/N20/N55/S55) Ltd Emission Wty Ext To 15 Yrs/150,000 Miles. I have a plastic fuel tank with this problem but the range for the warranty is for models F30 2013 to 2016 320i and xDrive Sedan that are produced between July 02, 2012 to April 30, 2016 . My vehicle was produced on May 2016 but has the same plastic fuel tank. Upon calling BMW north america they said they said they can not make exceptions and there is no escalation path. My point is if the same plastic fuel tank is used for the vehicles with in the warranty date range, why isn't my car covered? It is reasonable for BMW to add my VIN to the exception list.

Timing chain issue that is common with the BMW n20 engines. The chain is starting to loosen and have some slack. Afraid it could brake and jump teeth as it does it so many online horror stories wrecking the car's engine after it breaks and gets sucked into it. I believe a recall should hopefully happen. A sorts of class action lawsuits and settlements but no recall yet.

I have smoke that comes from my exhaust pipe only whenever I first start my vehicle at the beginning of the day. I had a diagnosis done on my vehicle and was advised that my oil feed line was faulty. This is a known design flaw with BMW vehicles from years 2013 through 2016. I would like for BMW to repair the flaw on my vehicle since this is a known manufacturer issue which is something out of my control. Please contact me by email or cellular phone @ [XXX] or [XXX]. i purchased this car in 2014 and since then i keep bringing my car for repairs the dealer keep finding so many problems, every time i take it for service. this car has stalled on me few times, and i almost have an accident with my two grandbabies with me, supposedly the dealer fixed it but few months later it broke again with the same issues, they said it was still under the warranty and i didnt pay for that, but they charge of other problems. i told them from the beginning that this car was almost new when i bought it and ,its was not possible that since then, its been having too many problems, and they were the only one that has been taking care of the car. now iit has scaled, to even more and major issues. such as breaks, tires, alternator drive belt, break pads, fuel injection, , engine oil filter housing gaskets, parkin brake cable clip, brake fluid, differential fluid exchange, battery replace and much more,. and that is why i really need your help. i am very scare of the safety of my love ones, my self and others. the car it has been inspected by the same dealer, where i been taking it since i bought it, for maintenance and mechanical and other issues. my vehicle always have the message (symbol) of either engine, tire. it appears since 2014, it goes away after i have taking it to the dealer.

ON THE NIGHT OF OCTOBER 18 2020 AROUND 3:30AM I WAS WOKEN BY MY NEXT DOOR NEIGHBORS NOTIFYING ME THAT ME 2014 BMW WAS CURRENTLY ON FIRE IN A UNCONTROLLABLE BLAZE. FROM THE ENGINE BAY OF THE CAR DOWN TO MY FUEL TANK AND PUMPS WERE SHOOTING OUT FLAMES COVERING THE CAR ITSELF BY THE TIME I WAS ABLE TO RUN FROM MY ROOM TO MY CAR I CAN SEE THAT THE DAMAGE WAS DONE. I PROCEEDED TO CALL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND PUT OUT THE FIRE MYSELF WHILE I WAITED FOR THEM TO ARRIVE, I DID NOT DRIVE THE CAR FOR A TOTAL OF 8+ HOURS AND IT WAS SITTING AND PARKED IN FRONT OF MY DRIVE WAY. MY CAR SHOWED NO SIGNS OF CATCHING ON FIRE ON ITS OWN, IT JUST RANDOMLY CAUGHT ABLAZE, AFTER I PUT OUT THE FIRE AND TALKED WITH THE FIRE DEPARTMENT FROM FIRST GLANCE WE KNEW THIS WASN'T ARSON BUT A POSSIBLE ELECTRIC AND OR MALFUNCTION WITH THE CAR ITSELF. I CONTACTED MY INSURANCE COMPANY THE NEXT DAY AND TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPENED, THEY THEN PROCEEDED TO PICK UP THE CAR THE NEXT DAY VIA TOW TRUCK AND TOOK IT TO A PROFESSIONAL TO LOOK AT WHAT CAUSED IT, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE FIRE STARTED NEAR THE ENGINE BAY AND AS STATED BEFORE A MALFUNCTION WITH THE VEHICLE (SPONTANEOUS COMBUSTION), IT WAS THEN LABELED A TOTAL LOSS AND MY INVESTMENT WAS GONE.
