While driving my 2015 Chrysler 200, the vehicle randomly shifts into neutral without the driver initiating any gear change. Prior to this occurring, all dashboard warning lights illuminate simultaneously and the odometer display starts blinking so many lights — these appear to be warning signs of an electrical failure that then causes the transmission to shift into neutral while driving and sometimes even not able to shift gears. This has occurred multiple times at normal road speeds and causes sudden loss of power and vehicle control, creating a serious safety hazard. The vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop who confirmed it was an electrical issue beyond their capability. It was then taken to a Chrysler dealership who charged $250 per hour for diagnostics, kept the vehicle for a full day, and was unable to identify the cause. Their only suggestion was an aftermarket radio installed by a prior owner — however an aftermarket radio would not cause all dashboard lights to activate and the transmission to shift into neutral while driving. I contacted Chrysler corporate (Case #97099954) who confirmed no open recalls exist and refused to cover the repair stating the warranty has expired. However this is not a wear and tear issue — this is a safety defect. The sequence of all warning lights activating followed by the transmission shifting to neutral points to a failure in the vehicle electrical control system, possibly the TIPM or Transmission Control Module — both known problem areas on this model. This is a serious safety defect and I am requesting NHTSA investigate this issue on the 2015 Chrysler 200.

I am reporting multiple safety-related issues involving my 2016 Chrysler 200 S. On 02/06/2024, after an oil change at a dealership, the underbody skid plate bolts were not reinstalled. While driving, the skid plate fell and I lost control of the vehicle, creating a serious safety hazard. No warning indicators were present prior to this failure. The issue was identified immediately after leaving the dealership and is not properly documented in service records. In July 2022, following a battery replacement by the same dealership, the vehicle repeatedly lost power and stalled, leaving me stranded multiple times. I paid for diagnostic testing, but there is no documentation confirming proper diagnosis or repair. I was later advised incorrect hardware had been installed. On 02/27/2026, I was told the check engine light was on and diagnostic codes were cleared without repair. There is no documentation of the codes or repairs performed. I was also informed on 11/19/2022 that parts were ordered for a safety recall. From that date until 02/27/2026, I was repeatedly told parts were unavailable. I scheduled repair and dropped off the vehicle on 03/13/2026. I received notice that repair had begun, but later discovered the vehicle had not been serviced at all. No explanation was provided. Additionally, service records are inaccurate. A vehicle history report shows service on 03/17/2026 at a dealership I have never visited. The vehicle was not serviced anywhere on that date. These issues involve loss of control, repeated stalling, improper repairs, failure to complete a recall, and inaccurate reporting. Documentation is incomplete or missing. There was no warning light illuminated. Due to the failure, the passenger’s seat became inoperable and could not be adjusted or properly positioned. The dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact was informed that the vehicle would not be repaired due to a previous repair completed under NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V282000 (Electrical System, Air Bags). I’m not sure but it will randomly die and have to be restarted there are times it does it more than others but every time is extremely dangerous because you essentially lose control of the car until it is restarted and it shift extremely hard sometimes like it feels like the transmission is going to fall out it jerks the entire car violently and there are numerous low voltage codes as well

While driving, my 2016 Chrysler 200 (3.6L V6) experienced a sudden and complete electrical failure. All systems shut down simultaneously, including the dashboard, engine, power steering assist, and electrical accessories. The vehicle coasted to a stop and would not restart—no crank, no dash lights, no response. After allowing the vehicle to cool for approximately 30–45 minutes, electrical power returned and the vehicle restarted normally. This failure mode is identical to the Power Distribution Center (PDC) connector defect that resulted in a recall for the 2015 Chrysler 200. My vehicle is the same platform with the same component architecture, yet no recall exists for the 2016 model year. This is a serious safety defect that creates a risk of crash, loss of steering assist, and loss of vehicle control while driving.

While driving at approximately 60 MPH on a highway, the vehicle suddenly lost motive power, stalled, and entered "limp mode," shifting into neutral or a low gear unexpectedly. This failure caused a rapid deceleration in high-speed traffic, effectively disabling the vehicle and creating an immediate safety hazard and risk of collision. The engine stalled completely, requiring the vehicle to be coasted to the emergency shoulder. After a key cycle, the vehicle restarted but the check engine light remained illuminated. Independent diagnostic scanning retrieved Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) U0018 (Medium Speed CAN Communication Bus Short) and P0894 (Transmission Component Slipping). These specific codes and symptoms (intermittent electrical short causing stall/shift-to-neutral) are identical to the safety defects addressed in NHTSA Recall 15V-470 (FCA Recall R24 - Power Distribution Center Electrical Connector) and NHTSA 16V-529 (FCA Recall S55 - Transaxle Wiring Harness). Although records indicate Recall R24 was marked as "completed" on this vehicle in July 2015, the specific safety defect has recurred, presenting the exact same failure mode. The Authorized Dealer was contacted regarding the recurrence of this safety defect but refused to perform a no-charge inspection, citing an expired repair warranty. The Manufacturer (FCA US LLC) was also contacted to report the recurring safety failure but refused to open a case or authorize a diagnostic inspection, despite the life-threatening nature of the defect. The component and vehicle are available for inspection. The failure has not been resolved.

transmission service (power train ) caused my parking rod dislodged/broken to slip/jerk to lose control of vehicle. It had put us at high risk, no airbags didn't go off to causing passenger to hit their head blacking out and non-stop pain in rotating cuff of right shoulder. It was inspect by the police and city from not being drive-able to be towed and inspected by the towing/mechanical person. Techniction Stating the following: on technical service bulletin they state inspect and install a jumper harness in the front seats. Why do I have to reroute electrical. The contact stated that when the A/C failed, the temperature gauge on the vehicle was elevated. The contact parked the vehicle, turned off the engine, and called a tow truck. The vehicle was towed to the residence, and then towed to the dealer. The contact was informed that the Power Distribution Center (PDC) electrical connector had failed, which caused intermittent power failures of certain electrical components. The contact was provided with an image of the fuse box, which showed that the fuse box was burnt. The contact was informed that the fan fire, PDC connector, and assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle remained at the dealer pending the repair. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V470000 ( ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 147,000.

2011 Chrysler 200, 156k miles, Original owner. At Highway Speeds engine will shut off! Extremely dangerous as you lose power steering and brakes on a busy interstate. No warning lights. No check engine. Issue just started happening and has happened multiple times in last 3 weeks. Car is unsafe to drive. After occurrence car will restart after about 30 minutes. I do not know why NHTSA or Chrysler hasn't done anything to initiate an investigation and recall. This issue is widely reported on many forums. After second instance, a repair shop reproduced issue and saw U1403 so they updated PCM/ECU as they couldn't find anything else. It has happened since then and my scanner showed DTC codes P061C status code 30 and U0401 status code 20.

The problem seems to be with the electrical system the TIPM is malfunctioning. Wipers will stop midstream or run constantly, any time power is engaged in the car the wipers will begin to work whether the switch is on or off and regardless if the key is even in the ignition or not. Airbag lights are lit up, blinker switch will engage wipers to run.

I started having the oil pressure warning light come on same day after an oil change. It was a 3-hour drive, and the light will come on while my foot is on the break. Oil level was in the safe marker. Then I started feeling rumbling like I was driving a stick shift car. One major incident I was waiting for my turn at a light and when it turned green, the car was stalling but went. All of sudden it stopped and cut off and wouldn't crank back up. When it did the light was red and cars were going around me. It was running hot but started back up for me to drive home. But it I stopped it shuts off. The inside lights do a weird thing like comes on randomly while driving and it's scary at night. Also, if using the left turn signal the lights comes on.
