I had my car fixed from a recall for an engine oil pump or something like that. After it was fixed, my car will shut off when I’m at a stop light or while I’m driving. It is not safe and scares me. My check engine light will come on and off, and my local dealership won’t help unless the check engine light is on when I bring it in. This has been going on since early May.

My name is Ms. [XXX] I filing a complaint against Honolulu Ford (Dealer) and Ford Motor Company for not informing me of a major recall and failure to set an appointment to repair the major recall, so I wrote a letter of complaint to Ford Motor Company XXX and a follow up XXX, XXX and XXX. As a loyal Ford customer since 1998, I respectfully request an update regarding Case #XXX and the status of my appeal. On XXX I requested reconsideration of Ford's decision denying my vehicle buyback request. I previously submitted supporting documentation by certified mail on XXX, which was received and signed for at Ford's Executive Office. I also submitted a follow-up letter on XXX requesting a status update. Per my telephone conversation with Ms. Bradley on XXX, I offered Ford provide repair assistance. and I requested a written confirmation that my Ford EcoSport will be repaired by Ford-authorized personnel, all recall-related concerns will be addressed, and a loaner vehicle will be provided during the repair process. My concern remains the major recall affecting my vehicle and the potential safety risk it presents to my family and other motorists. My goal is to have the vehicle restored to a condition that reflects its approximate Kelley Blue Book value of $15,000. Please provide a written status update, to my request by XXX. If I do not receive a response, I will consider all available options, including seeking legal counsel. Incident Date: 12/28/2025 Location: [XXX] Related Recall: 23V905 / 23S64 On December 28, 2025, while driving at highway speeds on [XXX] , my 2020 Ford EcoSport suffered a sudden engine fire. There were no prior dashboard warnings or "Check Engine" lights until the fire began, the vehicle speed started to slow down itself, and I immediately pulled over on the side of the interstate. I turned off the vehicle, and lifted the hood, since I saw smoke, and there was a fire under the hood. I called [XXX] , and the [XXX] /Cobb County Fire Department responded to the scene and inspected the vehicle under the hood. I have video evidence of the fire department on-scene and the emergency inspection of the burning engine. This vehicle is subject to Safety Recall 23V905 (Ford 23S64) for oil pump belt/tensioner failure leading to engine seizure. Crucially, a recall "repair" had been previously performed on this vehicle, yet the engine still suffered a catastrophic thermal event. This indicates either an ineffective remedy or a negligent installation. The vehicle was towed to Hennessy Ford [XXX] ). Their diagnosis confirmed: "COIL PACK BURN AND BURNED THE #2 INJECTOR AND HARNESS AND VALVE COVER." Despite the federal mandate that recall-related failures be handled at no cost, the dealership attempted to charge me over $2,000 for the diagnosis and repairs. Furthermore, Ford Customer Relationship Center (escalated 03/27/2026) has stalled the case by moving it to legal counsel with a 15-day waiting period. I am reporting this as a serious safety defect and a failure of a prior recall remedy. I am requesting a full investigation into the fire and a manufacturer buyback as the vehicle's safety integrity is now compromised. Also, I filed a claim with Ford Customer Relationship Center, here is my case number: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I took my vehicle into Apple Ford in Columbia, MD for a safety recall. They proceeded to tell me that my engine, the crankshaft, and the turbo also need to be replaced but will not cover it even though these issues were caused by the safety recall. Everything online says that with this recall the engine should be replaced under the recall. We had small issues with the car about a year ago that were taken care of. This safety recall is also unresolved according to Ford so how can i even get anything fixed?

There is a known recall for this vehicle (Reference NHTSA Safety Recall 23V905) related to the engine oil pump drive belt tensioner arm. According to the recall notice, it says "Parts are now available to repair your vehicle" and "please have this recall performed as soon as possible". My local Ford Dealership has denied my request to have this recall serviced, and refused to schedule me a future appointment for this service, and also could not provide me any approximate date on when this service might be available to me. They said they would not perform this recall unless the part has already failed and the vehicle would therefore have to be towed in, which I have in an email communication from the dealership. This obviously is a direct contradiction of the statement issued in the recall notice, so I wanted to report this as a complaint.

There is an open recall on my 2020 Ford EcoSport (VIN: [XXX] ) involving the engine oil pump. The recall was issued back in 2023, and I have been repeatedly told that the part would be available “at the beginning of the year” — first in 2023, then 2024, and now again in 2025. Each time, no resolution has come, and the part remains unavailable. This delay has made my vehicle unsafe and unreliable. I’ve been unable to drive it confidently or use it for essential transportation. Despite contacting both Ford and the original dealership (Preston Ford West in Randallstown, MD), I have received no specific repair date or clear guidance — only repeated postponements year after year. Meanwhile, I am forced to continue making high monthly loan payments on a vehicle I cannot safely operate. This has become a financial burden as well as a safety risk. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate Ford’s handling of this recall and assess whether consumers like myself should be protected under a buyback, warranty extension, or similar resolution process. My Ford 2020 EcoSport caught on fire last 12/22/24 for a recall that Ford acknowledged. I am still waiting for it to get fixed, it is now 01/30/25. Now I have been paying for a car rental from my own pocket, not sure how much longer this will be. Also, I will pay for $1,000 deductible when I pick up my car because I filed a claim through my insurance which covered only my towing and a portion of the cost for repairs after my deductible. This is so unfair because Ford said they will NOT cover anything. This is now causing hardship financially with my family. I am a single Mom, sole provider and now, I will have to be late on my rent depending on how long it will get fixed too, since I need to get a rental in order to continue to get to work, take my daughter to school and care for my elderly parents. I feel so defeated because I can't rely on a car that I need for my livelihood. I did not cause nor ask for this, but Ford is not helping alleviate the ripple effects that this caused my family. What's worse is that when I spoke with Ford in 12/27/2024, they acknowledged that this only a band aid, not a definite solution for the problem. I don't think that I will have any more money in the future to deal with something they know may catch on fire again. It is so immoral. I would like to also add that I purchased an extended warranty when I purchased the vehicle in 10/2020. Since I am now over the miles stipulated, Ford will not budge. I only got free oil changes from an extended warranty that was over $6,000. Again, very immoral. Please help me and my family. I would like to join if there's an ongoing class action lawsuit.

My ecosport’s coolant reservoir has a leak. Due to this, my car overheated and went into limp mode. A week later, my ecosport would crank but not start, I believe this is due to a cracked cylinder from the oil pump recall. I received a recall notice for the oil pump in June with no current remedy. Now, I am having these issues with my vehicle. A mobile mechanic looked at my vehicle.

There has been no incident because we are afraid to drive the car due to the recalled part. The first letter regarding the recall stated the parts were anticipated 2nd quarter 2024. Now it's 1st quarter 2025. What are we supposed to do in the meantime? Drive it and wait to be stranded on the highway? And will Ford push off the fix again once 2025 comes? There has to be a better solution in the wait-time.

The vehicle had been making a noise and would occasionally lose power. I had made an appointment with Ford and had just left my home to drive the car to drop off when the oil light came on, then the check engine light and a wrench light. The car was making a terrible noise and I had to turn around. The engine was starting to smoke when I got back to my home. The car had previous issues with losing power and Ford had said this was due to a faulty temperature gauge and had replaced the temp. gauge.

The system of my car kept saying that low oil pressure and I was confused because I just got my car oil changed two weeks ago. So I went to Jiffy Lube to get my oil checked. They said it was full and that I had a mass flow light on and they stated that there was something wrong with the oil pressure due to the airflow or something, so then my car stopped on side of the road 2 minutes after I left jiffy lube. I almost got to into a wreck. Someone almost hit my car because my car was accelerating slow, so I had to pay a tow truck to take my car home then I have to pay for a mobile mechanic to come out to my house to see the issue. he said that it was , the vacuum pump, the engine oil pressure was low due to the airflow just like jiffy lube said and also the timing belt or chain tension needed to be replaced. Now I have been without a car for a week and every time I call the dealership they said that there is no parts in stock. I have also called the vehicle safety hotline 1-888-327-4236 and the number is out of service. So I don’t know what to do. I am without a car I don’t know how to rent a car because I don’t have the money for it because I just paid over $600 (Tow truck, oil service and diagnosis test). I don’t know if you guys can trade my car in for something else or give me a loaner car but something has to be done. You guys have to help me out some kind of way due to this recall. This is acceptable especially since I have to Uber my kids to and from school and daycare and I have to Uber myself to work, pick up my kids and home every day. Please contact me as soon as possible [XXX] so this issue can be resolved. Thanks [XXX] . INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Unknown. About two weeks ago my car started periodically not starting. There were no indications of an issue. The car would operate as normal now the car check engine light is on. I have taken it to the dealership knowing about the recall they stated the issue is likely caused by the recall and they will not have the part to fix it until Q3 or Q4 of this year. I have already been stuck away from home 3 times and fear the car is going to shut down while driving. I do not have a nother form of transportation for work and getting my child to school. I can not wait until the end of the year for the vehicle to be fixed and don't want to drive it and risk others safety.

[XXX] while I was driving the low oil pressure warning came on. The car lost power, made terrible loud noise. I parked. The car was towed. It’s been sitting at James Ford Service, 100 Seymour St, Half Moon Bay, CA 94019 undriveable awaiting repair. It needs an engine which is not available. 7 months they have been telling me the parts are on backorder with no etd. My safety and others safety was at risk because the vehicle lost power along with braking power when the oil pump failed. FORD had known about this problem for quite some time. I am paying my car payment, insurance, DMV, car rental expenses and no car of my own to drive. I have cancer and had major surgery in November and now have weekly chemotherapy and other doctor appointments that I struggle to have transportation to get to! They have NOT been able to repair my car and they are still lying about the parts. I cannot go on like this and they need to compensate me immediately. The recall of January 4, 2024 further allows them to have more time to lie about the issue with these vehicles. They have known and haven’t been forthcoming whatsoever. Sometimes when you're driving, the rear cargo door opens on its own. Sometimes it opens completely and stuff falls out. I took it to the dealership and they kept it 2 days. A couple year ago I got a random pop up saying low oil pressure I pulled over immediately and started hearing a noise. I called around and got told I should tow the car to a mechanic. Then, I was told I had to get a new engine, and that was not cheap. I have also had the problem where every time I get into the car the screen turns off and says “turning off to save battery” sometimes the screen turns back on and sometimes it stays off not allowing me to see navigation. Plus when this happens it sometimes turns my whole dash and air conditioning off, and I am unable to use the reverse camera. Now there was a recent recall on my vehicle for the low oil pressure warning. But I have also had multiple problems with the auto start stop function where I have to manually turn it off every time I get into the car, the reasoning is because multiple times on the road the car would not start and I would have to put the car in park and restart the car but on hills it really has a problem starting.

My oil pump is faulty just like the others. That I have read about my oil light came on after a warning light dinged on the dash stating that I had low oil pressure issues. My brother in law is a diesel mechanic and took a look at my car and said that if I move my car from my house my engine is ruined. He checked my oil and everything. I was driving back home at very low speeds and couldn’t use my car right now I am paying on a car I can’t use?! This just started 3 days ago. I called my dealership and I can’t afford to pay for them to fix my car!! The dealership is aware of the recall but won’t do anything until they’re allowed too. My husband was driving when both the oil light and the engine light came on. He lost power. Thankfully he was on a road with no traffic. The oil pump is not working. The engine needs to be replaced only after 3 years. Took it to the dealership, they told him that the engine would need to be replaced. He was then told he could drive it back home, he was in a different county than what we live. We took it to a non dealership shop and they told us the same thing. Called Ford, they told me there was nothing that they could do. I have $12,549 left to pay so a trade in is out of the question. Please help

The car began to have problems going up the slightest incline with the wrench light coming on but going off when stopped. Then the oil pressure light came on. When it was in the dealership I was told I needed a new engine because the oil pump had gone out which they said had been causing the deceleration when going uphill at all. They said they were metal shavings in the engine. The car was in the shop for over 2 months. I did trade the car off while they were waiting on a engine. I had the extended warranty which covered this expense. This was a very difficult and dangerous situation.
