CORRECTION TO NHTSA COMPLAINT 11754243 (8/2/2026). That complaint was submitted late at night with assistance; several fields were entered wrong and the electrical failure history was omitted. Apologies for the error. Please associate this with XXX. CORRECTIONS: Vehicles towed - YES, TWO, not "No"; my Genesis is still at the dealer it was towed to in [XXX]. Injured - THREE, not 1. Police report - YES, not "No". Mileage about 23,500. Speed at T0 per the EDR - 23 km/h, about 14 mph. OMITTED AND MATERIAL: Before this crash the vehicle STARTED ITSELF TWICE WITH NO HUMAN COMMAND - no key press, no remote start, nobody in it. Separately the entire system went completely black, causing TOTAL ECU AND ECM FAILURE. The vehicle lost electrical integrity. WHY THAT MATTERS: Genesis Service Campaign 914G is "ECM Update - P030X Misfire"; its remedy is "Update the ECM (Engine Control Module) software." It covers 2022-2023MY GV70 (JK1) built 3/29/2021-3/4/2025, VIN starting KMU. My VIN is [XXX], a 2023 GV70. Owner notice was due September 2025. The campaign was still open and unremedied when the car crashed 12/3/2025. THE EVENT: Exiting a highway at low speed with no impact, collision or obstacle of any kind, the airbags deployed spontaneously. The deployment caused loss of control and a three-vehicle collision. The deployment caused the crash. No warning lamp or symptom preceded it. FAULT HISTORY: B139500 cross coupling (SRS firing-loop interconnection fault), B1650 (airbag control unit fault history), and multiple LOW VOLTAGE codes. An electrical system that starts an engine uncommanded and blacks out an ECU can fire a restraint with no crash. EDR: The report states the EDR is part of the Air Bag Control Unit and that if ACU power is lost during an event, all or part of the data may not be recorded. Manufacturer closed its claim with no repair or explanation. Vehicle and ACU remain available; no dealer diagnostic was done on the ACU. Subject: Vehicle Safety Incident Report – Fuel Pump Disconnection and Oil Leak To: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Date: July 27, 2026 I am submitting this report to detail a recent vehicle malfunction that posed significant risks to my safety and that of others on the road. While driving to work, I experienced a situation where my vehicle was unable to shift gears properly or accelerate as expected. This loss of acceleration and responsiveness created substantial control problems, making it difficult to maneuver safely in traffic. Notably, no dashboard warning lights were illuminated at the time, which gave me the false impression that the vehicle was operating correctly. Initially, I perceived a dragging sensation in the car, which I believed was manageable. However, the situation quickly escalated when I observed smoke coming from the vehicle. The presence of smoke not only impaired my visibility but also posed a serious risk of fire or engine failure. The danger was heightened as I attempted to drive uphill; the car struggled even more, increasing the potential for an accident or collision due to impaired maneuverability. Following this incident, I had my vehicle towed to an auto repair shop for a diagnostic check. The diagnostic report revealed that the fuel pump was not attached to anything and that oil was leaking into the pan. These findings confirm that the issues were real and not just perceived. The disconnected fuel pump and oil leak represent systemic failures, which could have had catastrophic consequences if not addressed promptly. In conclusion, this experience highlighted grave risks to both personal and public safety. I urge vehicle manufacturers and regulatory bodies to prioritize detecting and preventing such malfunctions.

I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding the service I received, and the dealership’s failure to address what I believe is a serious safety issue following recall repairs performed on my vehicle. On XXX, I brought my vehicle for a routine oil change and to complete three mandatory recall campaigns, including an ECM software update related to a misfire recall. Prior to this service, my vehicle had never exhibited any misfiring, transmission, or drivability issues. However, on Sunday, XXX, and again on Monday, XXX my vehicle began experiencing dangerous driving symptoms that started only after the recall work was completed. Specifically: The engine RPMs surge while accelerating, but the vehicle does not increase speed accordingly. The vehicle jerks when braking. The vehicle hesitates and feels unsafe while driving at highway speeds. These issues did not exist before Genesis performed the recall repairs. On XXX, I contacted my service advisor, to report these safety concerns. He assured me that a manager would contact me ASAP and determine the next steps. No one ever called me back. I called again that same day. During that conversation, Rick suggested that my worn brake pads and rotors were the reason my vehicle was “misfiring.” This explanation makes does not explain why my engine RPMs are flaring and the vehicle is failing to accelerate properly immediately after an ECM recall update. Once again, I was told someone would follow up, and again, no one did. On XXX, at approximately 9:00 AM, I called Genesis of Danvers again and spoke with Rick who told that if I dropped the vehicle off today, nothing could be done with it today, and that a manager would call me back. Got vehicle towed XXX. As of today XXX I still have no update on my vehicle. No phone card no email no loaner. I am becoming increasingly concerned by the lack of communication surrounding a vehicle that was towed because of a significant safety concern. Auto Start Stop seemed to have malfunction and shut the car off completely. I had to restart the car in traffic to get going. This happened twice, once going to work and once on a weekend trip to New Jersey. The only thing that's preventing an accident is you have to stop for the auto start feature to even activate.

My 2025 Genesis GV70 stopped accelerating properly. There is a lag when you push on the accelerator pedal and it must be pushed about 75% before it begins to accelerate. When it does accelerate it has much less power than normal. This fault occurs constantly. The car can't accelerate normally at any time now. This is definitely a very serious safety hazard. This behavior has been reproduced by Genesis service personnel. There are no warning lights associated with the problem and no diagnostic codes are signaled. After 24 days the Genesis service personnel have no idea what is wrong.

My vehicle is at the Genesis dealership with what they even consider a common problem. Road debris putting a hole in the unprotected Turbo Intercooler Radiator. This is a safety issue because the loss of power in the vehicle once you lose your turbo. The radiator is very unprotected down at the bottom of the front of the vehicle and Genesis needs to do something about this. This is going to cost me $1500 to fix there not covered by Genesis even though it's a serious design flaw. I know I'm not the first person to report this, as I've seen forum posts about it and the issue is quite common. If it's so common, and it's so vulnerable, there most definitely is a design flaw in the vehicle.

I leased a 2026 Electric GV70 from Genesis in June 2025. In January of 2026, when driving the car I got a warning sign to stop the vehicle and check the battery supply. At that point, the car went into sever power reduction and would only go 20 MPH or so. After 20-30 minutes, the car completely shut down and became inoperable. Luckily, I was near home and was able to get my car home. I had to have the vehicle towed on wheels as it was completely frozen to the dealership. They diagnosed it as a failure of the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU). They replaced the ICCU but identified other issues that to this day are unresolved and my car is still in the shop. These cars were subject to a recall for ICCU failure but only to model year 2025. These ICCUs are continuing to fail on the 2026 models, and at an alarming rate. The head of service at the dealership told me they were dealing with "hundreds" of ICCU failures on Hyundai/Genesis vehicles. If I had been on a highway traveling at higher speeds and the car suddenly lost almost all power and would only drive for another few miles before completely shutting down, it would have created a dangerous situation. These cars need to be recalled - again. Hyundai/Genesis clearly dont know how to make electric cars/battery packs that work and should be held accountable. I believe they are downplaying this situation due to the prior recalls/class action lawsuits and dont want to experience further reputational damage.

I am writing to formally escalate a serious unresolved issue with my Genesis vehicle and the service experience I have received from Genesis of Huntington. My vehicle has experienced repeated and dangerous malfunctions despite multiple repair attempts. The most concerning issue is that the vehicle suddenly stops functioning properly while driving, accompanied by all dashboard warning lights flashing. In order to continue driving, I have had to turn the vehicle off and restart it. The vehicle has been brought back to the dealership multiple times for the same problem. Each time I was informed that the issue had been repaired and that parts had been replaced. However, the problem continues to occur even after these repairs. One of the most alarming incidents occurred while I was driving from Huntington back to Queens with my wife and newborn child in the car. The vehicle malfunctioned again, forcing me to stop and restart the car while on the road. This situation created a serious safety risk for my family. Additionally, the vehicle has been kept by the dealership for extended periods during repair attempts. As of my most recent interaction, the dealership had the vehicle for nearly two weeks during the third repair attempt for the same issue. Despite this significant amount of time, the problem remains unresolved. Compounding the issue is the lack of communication from the dealership. My attempts to contact the service department and management for updates have often gone unanswered, leaving me without information regarding the status of my vehicle. At this point, I have lost confidence in the reliability of the vehicle and the ability of the dealership to properly diagnose and repair the issue. I respectfully request immediate intervention from Genesis Motor America to review this matter. Given the repeated repair attempts for the same defect and the safety concerns involved, I ask that Genesis consider a permanent resolution.

I am filing this formal complaint against Genesis Motor America (a division of Hyundai Motor America) for the repeated failure to repair my defective 2024 Genesis GV70. The vehicle has been a nightmare of safety hazards, financial ruin, and life degradation, with over 240 days out of service in 8 months. This saga began as a dream purchase, but quickly turned into a relentless horror story of mechanical and ADAS failures, dealer incompetence, and manufacturer indifference. The vehicle has been in the shop on six separate occasions under three (3) different dealers, with collective downtime exceeding 240 days, far surpassing Florida's Lemon Law thresholds (3+ repair attempts for the same defect or 15+ days out of service).

My car exhibited a random loss of power which led to dangerous driving conditions. At times, when I wanted to accelerate to pass a vehicle on a two lane highway, I would enter the left lane to pass a vehicle and had zero acceleration which left me in a vulnerable position relative to oncoming traffic. Other times, the vehicle would not accelerate from a stop, rev to high RPMs and not shift out of 3rd gear without manual intervention. Another time, I was accelerating to make a lane change and the vehicle lagged, nearly causing a rear end collision by the vehicle behind me. There were no warning indications whatsoever on the dash, but I my OBD-II code reader indicated "P26CB00". When I researched this, I took my car into the dealer. The were able to replicate the problem and informed me that my vehicle had a punctured intercooler radiator which was caused by a road hazard and therefore would not be covered under warranty. After my inspection, I noticed a design flaw in the lower portion of the grill which allowed objects to impact the lower radiator without any protection whatsoever. Apparently, this leak caused my car's turbo system to not engage which is why there was a random loss of power. The repair of the radiator and water pump (which they said had failed because it ran dry) was over $2500. The dealer told me that they had had another Genesis GV70 with the same issue the prior week but that all cars have some unresolved problem or another. Based on my experience, this was a serious safety issue and so I also reached out to Genesis Corporate on 2/12/26 and they assigned it case #42240745. I have not heard back from them as of yet. Several people have posted about the issue on GV70 internet forums: [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I moved to Reno, NV where I need to merge onto route 80 everyday. During several attempts to merge onto 80, my Genesis GV70 stopped accelerating at 42 MPH, roughly 5000 RPMs and I was almost rear ended on two occasions because of the 'stalling' of the vehicle. An 18 wheel truck almost hit me because I couldn't accelerate past 42 MPH. Luckily, I was able to pull off the road. There was no warning light or check engine light on the dashboard. This was not a one time issue. Everytime I tried to merge at high speeds the car would not respond. I've attached a video that shows the issue. Genesis towed my car to a dealer in Mountain View CA. I did notice that I was leaking radiator fluid in the days prior to my incidents but when I checked the overflow tank, it was full. Again, there were no check engine lights on the dash. The Mountain View Genesis service manager replicated the issue and discovered that a small rock had come through the bottom grill and damaged the intercooler radiator. He unequivocally stated that "it's a design flaw in the lower grill. The grill has such a wide opening that foreign objects can enter through the lower grill." He went on to say that the intercooler radiator sits below the regular radiator and is made of a softer metal than the regular radiator which makes is more susceptible to damage. He also said that another Genesis GV70 came into his shop the same day with the exact same issue. The cost of the repair was $2,200 dollars to replace the intercooler radiator. (the intercooler was on backorder which may be demand) I opened a case with Genesis and they say that the repair is not covered under a warranty. The Genesis owners forum has numerous complaints of 'lack of acceleration' issues. Someone polled owners and 28 people responded that they experienced a similar lack of acceleration dangerous situation. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Office of Defects Investigation 1200 New Jersey Avenue SE Washington, DC 20590 Subject: Safety Defect Complaint – Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) Failure Vehicle: 2026 Genesis GV70 Electrified (EV) VIN: [XXX] To Whom It May Concern, I am submitting this complaint to report a safety-related failure involving my 2026 Genesis Electrified GV70, which experienced a sudden “Check Electric Vehicle System” warning consistent with a failure of the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU). Incident Summary On February 5, 2026, at approximately 4,480 miles, the vehicle displayed a “Check Electric Vehicle System” alert and was no longer safe to operate. Due to the risk of propulsion loss and electrical system malfunction, the vehicle required flatbed towing to an authorized Genesis dealership for evaluation. A dealership service advisor subsequently informed me that the vehicle has been diagnosed with an ICCU failure, a component responsible for charging the 12-volt battery and maintaining critical electrical systems. Failure of this component can result in loss of drivability, propulsion limitations, or vehicle shutdown, creating a significant roadway safety hazard. Safety Concern Failures of the ICCU have been widely reported across Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis electric vehicles and have been the subject of prior recalls due to the potential for unexpected loss of motive power while driving. Despite prior recall actions, failures continue to occur, including in my vehicle. Current Status The vehicle remains out of service pending repair, and no written repair completion timeline has been provided. The failure rendered the vehicle unusable and required emergency towing. I respectfully request that the Office of Defects Investigation review continuing ICCU failures affecting Genesis, Hyundai, and Kia electric vehicles to determine whether additional corrective action or expanded remedies INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATIO

I moved my Genesis GV-70 to my home in Reno, NV. My complaint is in regard to my car becoming very dangerous! I'm giving you my move to Reno because its relevant to this complaint. I didn't need quick acceleration while I was living in Florida. In Reno, I have to merge onto Route 80 everywhere that I go. Acceleration during a merger is extremely important here in Reno. So what I've experienced in Reno is a VERY DANGEROUS situation with my Genesis. My GV-70 stops accelerating around 40MPH, or roughly 5,000 RPM. The transmission stalls out and the car revs at 5000 but does not respond. I've almost been rear ended by tractor trailers and other vehicles because of this dangerous situation. I have since found out that my recall for a ECM Software Update-P030X Misfire problem is the acceleration issue that I've described. Here is my complaint: My car should not be allowed to be driven in this current condition. Genesis has understated the severity of this issue dramatically and certainly the language in their recall letter didn't reference not being able to accelerate past 40 MPH/5,000 RPM. I didn't experience this issue while driving mostly local roads in Fort Myers Florida, but here in Reno, this car and it's condition is DANGEROUS! It has caused near misses with very catastrophic consequences. I am driving my car to Rocklin California (2 hours away) next week for service which includes the Misfire problem as well as other service issues. The Misfire recall should taken my car off the road, Genesis did not address the severity and dangerous possibilities of this issue.

The coolant system on my 2022 Genesis GV70 has repeatedly failed despite multiple repairs. On April 2, Greenway Genesis diagnosed a coolant leak and replaced several components. The problem returned, and I brought the vehicle back on April 29 because the coolant appeared low again and the engine sounded louder than before. On October 25, Holler Hyundai confirmed another coolant leak, this time involving the integrated thermal management system. The recurring coolant loss places my safety at risk because it can lead to engine overheating, sudden power loss, or engine failure while driving. The issue has been reproduced and confirmed by two separate Genesis/Hyundai service centers. However, the root cause has not been identified or corrected, and the manufacturer has not provided a permanent solution. The vehicle has been inspected multiple times by authorized dealerships, and repair invoices are available for review. Despite these failures, no coolant warning light or dashboard message ever appeared, which raises concern that a sensor or monitoring component may not be functioning correctly. There were no warnings or messages at any point before or during the coolant loss. The vehicle is currently at Greenway Genesis and is available for inspection. Based on multiple repeated failures and the absence of any warning indicators, there appears to be an unresolved defect that could create a safety hazard while the vehicle is in operation.

While driving on the highway, the car shut down with no warning messages and gas fumes filled the interior of the car. I was not able to move over to a completely safe spot on the road because the car shut down so quickly. I was not able to put the windows down as there was no power to the car and unable to exit the car because I was not in a safe spot on the highway. I had to remain in the closed car inhaling the gas fumes. I called 911 and they had me sit in the sheriffs car until a tow truck came to keep me out of the fumes. The car was towed to the dealership, it had 53 miles on it. This event was extremely dangerous. It is currently at the service department of the dealership for repairs.

When I press the gas pedal halfway or 3/4 nothing happens - which is really bad in heavy traffic situations. On the highway, I floored it and the RPM was racing but it wouldn't shift up, so the engine was racing but there was no acceleration at all. I backed off and accelerated lightly, it would speed up. Scary. I have stomped on the accelerator it will rev to between 4 and 5 thousand rpms never up shifting or accelerating. Happens to frequently and I only have 11,000 miles on the vehicle. Genesis service can't locate the issue.

The vehicle has 1500 miles on it. I was driving around 40mph when the engine suddenly lost power and the immobilization light appeared. I was no longer able to accelerate. I coasted to a side street where the vehicle placed itself in Park. I restarted the vehicle and it worked. The next morning, the vehicle would not start and the immobilization light was present again. After checking the key fobs and battery, roadside assistance and I could not find the issue. Remote start from the app also did not work. It was towed to the dealer for assessment which is where it currently sits. If this happened on my regular highway route, I would possibly be stranded in the middle of the highway endangering me and others.
