EXTERIOR LIGHTING

I am retired and have always bought GM vehicles which are taken care of with required oil changes etc. This one I have only owned 25,000 mi each year (I have owned two years). So, when purchased it has high 50,000 miles not sure of exact, and it has only been driven 2 years. When calling escalation at GM, they act as though it doesn't matter and too bad. 110,000 miles and the truck needs a new motor. This is what we are told and 10,000 more than the initial 1500 to tear it down. This truck is not broken due to us, this is a problem with the manufacturer and the responsibility needs to be addressed. My husband has a heart issue and he almost didn't make it home. I'm not accepting that nothing be done, since next we need a lawyer and a media appointment. This isn't right when you see thousands of people with the same GMC Sierra trucks online with complaints of the same valve and motor issues. This needs completely replaced and not by a customer, by the manufacturer. How can 1500 people new wrong on one sight stating the same as we have had. This person who is responsble for reporting and making sure we are safe needs to be fired. I am writing my representatives, senators etc to let them know this is going on. No one should pay for the mistakes of bad engineering. PERIOD.

The contact owns a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that the trailer lights flashed intermittently while the vehicle is turned off. Additionally, the contact stated while driving with a trailer hitched to the vehicle, the messages "Trailer Disconnected" and "Trailer Connected" were intermittently displayed, and the running and marking lights were inoperative. The contact related the failure to GM TSB Numbers: 20-NA-198 (Trailer Running Lights Shut Off Due to Excessive Load on the Running Lamp Circuit), PIT5747B (Diagnostic Tip - Trailer Lighting Complaints with Trailering App RPO U1D) and N192213550 (Service UpdateTrailer Integration Module Software Error). The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was determined that the failures were due to a wiring or software failure. The contact was informed that the failure was a factory defect because the fuses were in good condition. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were not contacted yet. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000.

2019 GMC AT4. PROBLEM OCCURS AT NIGHT. WHEN PUTTING THE TRUCK IN REVERSE, THE DISPLAY MONITOR ON THE DASH TURNS TO FULL BRIGHTNESS (AND CANNOT BE TURNED DOWN). IT IS VERY HARD TO EVEN SEE THE SIDE MIRRORS DUE TO THE BLINDING BRIGHTNESS OF THE DASH DISPLAY. THERE NEEDS TO BE A FIX TO THIS PROBLEM AS IT MAKES BACKING UP AT NIGHT VERY CHALLENGING.

WHEN BACKING UP IN THE DARK THE BACKUP CAMERA GOES TO FULL BRIGHTNESS AND IS VERY DISORIENTING AND MAKES USING YOU MIRRORS VERY DIFFICULT SINCE YOUR EYES ARE ADJUSTED TO THE DARK. USING THE BACKUP CAMERA SCREEN IS USELESS DUE TO HOW BRIGHT IT IS. HAPPENS WHEN VEHICLE IS STATIONARY OR IN MOTION.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

PUTTING VEHICLE IN REVERSE TURNS THE INTERIOR DISPLAY BRIGHTNESS (REVERSE CAMERA) ON AS BRIGHT AS IT GOES, LIKE A FLASHBULB GOING OFF RIGHT IN YOUR FACE. THIS IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS AT NIGHT AND LEAVES TEMPORARY BLINDNESS WHICH AFFECTS THE ABILITY TO SEE OUT INTO THE DARKNESS AFTERWARDS. THERE IS NO ABILITY TO ADJUST THE BRIGHTNESS OF THE INTERIOR DISPLAY. I CAN EVEN TURN THE DISPLAY OFF AND SHIFTING INTO REVERSE TURNS THE CAMERA BACK ON WITH MAXIMUM BRIGHTNESS.

THE BACKUP CAMERA ON THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM IS BLINDINGLY BRIGHT AT NIGHT. WHEN YOU PUT THE TRUCK IN REVERSE THE BACKUP CAMERA POPS UP ON THE INFOTAINMENT SCREEN AND BLINDS YOU MAKING IT A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD AS YOU CANNOT SEE ANYTHING OUT YOUR MIRRORS. THIS NEEDS CORRECTED SO THERE IS A BRIGHTNESS CONTROL TO ALLOW THE SCREEN TO BE DIMMED SO THAT YOU CAN SEE WHEN BACKING UP.
