My HMI was "bricked" when onstar pushed an incompatible update when I changed the service plan. While driving the screen has intermittently turned off and on causing temporary unexpected loss of navigation functions, Bluetooth connectivity, and use of the back up camera. This causes a safety issue as the unexpected loss of display and connectivity has caused me to be unable to continue using hands free features during operation, and to no longer view behind the vehicle during entirety of backing. When I contacted OnStar support I was instructed to perform some troubleshooting and was then referred to the Connection Center Team. The CCT representative told me that my hardware was outdated and could not support the update. If a representative can confirm the problem retrospectivly, I think the representatives making changes to the service plan should also be able to proactively confirm incompatibility before causing the issue. There were no warnings. The issues first occured while I was driving on the day (6/25/26) my new plan began and the update was sent. I can make the HMI available for inspection upon request. I don't believe there is any actual issue with the hardware, just a negligent and incompatible software update.

The tailgate opens unexpectedly, it can be inspected but it is in for repairs on 6/15/26. There was luggage in the back and it could have fallen out on the freeway. The problem has not been repeated by the dealer, but it has occurred several times in the past. The vehicle had not been inspected by others. There was no warning that the tailgate opened. They start to occur randomly several months ago.

My 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD was previously repaired under GM safety recall N232426400 / NHTSA recall 24V060 for the power-unlatching tailgate switch, which can fail from water intrusion. The recall repair was completed and the recall now shows as closed. Recently, the same tailgate switch problem occurred again. The dealer diagnosed water intrusion/corrosion affecting the tailgate release switch circuit, including damage to the related wiring harness/connector. GMC customer assistance stated they could not assist because the recall is closed. I am reporting this as a possible failed or inadequate recall remedy. The same water-intrusion condition addressed by the recall appears to have recurred after the recall repair, and the vehicle now requires additional repair to the same tailgate release system. This raises concern that the recalled safety defect was not fully remedied and that other vehicles may experience repeat failures after the recall is marked complete.

XXX Power Assist Step Reversing I have a 2021 GMC Sierra 2500HD that the local dealership (Ozark MO 65714) is stating has expired and not covered by the warranty. I researched online and as I understand this recall falls under SAFTEY recalls and is to be fixed and doesn't expire? It requires no parts but the reprogramming of the K4 Assist Step Control Module. What is my next step or recourse?

After starting the vehicle, I turned on the rear defrost button and within a few minutes the rear window started producing smoke inside the vehicle. I turned the truck off immediately and then approximately 30 seconds later, the rear window on the passenger side shattered. There is a recall that was issued for this exact problem but when i contacted the dealership, I was informed that the recall applied to Canadian vehicle models only and that there was no recall issued in the U.S. for this problem. I believe that there was a great risk for my family's safety as my child sits directly in front of this window and presented an injury risk to her, as well as the overall fire risk that could have occurred if I had not noticed the issue immediately. There were no warnings before the incident occurred. I had to pay out of pocket to have the window replaced.

Component / System Failure The exhaust system, specifically the exhaust manifolds and previously the EGR system components, appear to have failed or malfunctioned, allowing exhaust gases to enter the passenger cabin. The dealer initially replaced the EGR cooler diverter on December 23, 2025. However, the condition persisted. On February 3, 2026, cracked exhaust manifolds were identified by the dealership, and a major front-end teardown was advised to complete the repair. The vehicle is currently available for inspection upon request. ⸻ How Safety Was Put at Risk The malfunction allowed exhaust gases, including carbon monoxide, to enter the passenger cabin during vehicle operation. Carbon monoxide readings inside the cabin reached up to 50 parts per million (ppm) while driving. Carbon monoxide is a toxic gas that can cause: •Headaches •Dizziness •Impaired concentration •Nausea •Vision disturbances Because carbon monoxide is odorless and colorless, this presents a significant safety risk, particularly at highway speeds where driver alertness is critical. The exposure occurred while operating the vehicle in normal driving conditions. This created a potential risk of driver impairment and increased risk of collision. ⸻ Has the Problem Been Reproduced or Confirmed? Yes. The vehicle was presented to the dealership three times for the same exhaust intrusion concern: •December 16, 2025 •December 29, 2025 •February 3, 2026 During the February 3 visit, the dealership confirmed cracked exhaust manifolds requiring major disassembly for repair. The carbon monoxide readings were observed during vehicle operation. The exhaust odor and intrusion symptoms were consistently present following the first attempted repair. ⸻ Has the Vehicle Been Inspected by Manufacturer or Others? The vehicle has been inspected by the authorized dealership on multiple occasions. Two manufacturer customer care cases were opened.

I own a 2024 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate 2500HD diesel that has been out of service for 52 days due to an oil cooler / service bulletin related failure. The vehicle is under warranty. The required replacement part is on national backorder and, as of today, has not shipped. The current estimated ship date is February 17. During this time, neither the dealership nor GMC has provided proactive communication. I have had to repeatedly contact them for updates. This extended inability to repair a critical component, combined with the lack of parts availability and communication, raises concerns about the reliability of this system and the manufacturer’s ability to support safe operation of the vehicle in a reasonable timeframe. The truck is my primary vehicle and is intended for towing and transportation. Being unable to repair it for nearly two months due to parts unavailability presents a significant safety and reliability concern.

Loss of audio throughout an entire drive/ignition cycle. This includes the loss of the blinker click/clack audio when the blinker is on. When the loss of audio issue occurs, the driver has no audio input indicating a blinker is on even though the actual blinker is flashing to other drivers. Therefore, an unaware driver (due to no audio feedback) with a blinker left on could have another driver pull out in front of them thinking they intended to turn with the result being a collision.

Cracks in the rear sliding window plastic upper rail glass guide causing Rear window leaking water and causing mold from water leaking. GMC has a service bulletin number 18-NA-383 knowing of this issue and not telling customers purchasing the GMC vehicle. The service bulletin was released in 2019 before purchasing the truck and they still didn't inform the customers. My child rides in the back in a car seat and now has been breathing in this mold and mildew for how long. Safety Concern Report: 2024 GMC Sierra Gear Shifter Obstruction ⸻ Vehicle Information: 2024 GMC Sierra [Specify 1500/2500/3500] [Optional: VIN Number] ⸻ Description of the Problem: I am writing to report a design concern with my 2024 GMC Sierra. The location and height of the gear shifter on this vehicle significantly obstruct the driver’s view of the center infotainment screen and console, especially while seated in a normal, upright driving position. The gear shifter blocks important information such as navigation directions, ETA, media controls, and other on-screen notifications. This forces me to lean forward or reposition myself in an unnatural way while driving, which I believe creates an unnecessary distraction and increases the risk of driver error or loss of situational awareness. I have attempted to adjust my seating position, steering wheel angle, and seat height, but none of these adjustments fully resolve the obstruction. After discussing this issue with other owners online, I found that multiple GMC Sierra owners have experienced the same visibility problem. Some have even resorted to aftermarket modifications to address the design flaw. I believe this is a design oversight that affects safe vehicle operation. I respectfully request that GMC and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration review this issue for potential corrective action. ⸻ Requested Action: Please investigate this safety concern and consider potential solutions, such as a recall, design revision, or retrofit option to improve screen visibility without forcing the driver into unsafe driving postures. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

There is no warning that this has occurred other than there is no warning chimes/tones, only visual indicators.

Vehicle was locked up and only able to drive 55 Mph and there was a countdown to it dropping even lower. Dangerous to limit speed.
