Hello I own a Hyundai Elantra 2015 SE I am having trunk latch issues the trunk will not open at all I cannot pull seats down without getting into the trunk once something is in there it cannot get out I believe this is a safety hazard I called my dealership to see if there is a recall on this but there is not this is a big issue .

I had a trunk latch recall done on my car in June 2024. Immediately after that, my trunk stopped opening with the key fob. The latch would click but not release. A few weeks ago, it started doing the same thing with the release lever by the driver's side. There was no way to get the trunk open, so I went to a different Hyundai dealership than where my recall was done at (due to travel costs from school). They had to replace the trunk latch because the recall latch was installed incorrectly. It was an almost $700 expense.

For the past 2 years, the car shuts off while driving. There is no warning lights or other warning that it is going to shut off. The steering doesn't lock but the car shuts off. I have to come to a stop and then restart the car. It does restart every time. This seems to happen frequently and then doesn't do it for a few weeks. I have had it looked at by 4 different mechanics, had multiple sensors replaces, replaced coil packs, and the problem still continues. The Hyundai dealer looked at it one time and said they do not know what is wrong.

On [XXX] I was parking in my parking spot outside my house, went to pull up 3 more inches in my parking spot when the vehicle accelerated at an extremely rapid speed, went over the high curb, up my front lawn into the tree in my front yard. It was a battle between the brake and the gas acceleration event. Then I put it gently in reverse, my car fled rapidly down into the parking lot at such a high rate of speed, I turned the wheel, my car hit 3 cars across the parking lot, shot across the parking lot, popped over that curb, went down an extremely steep hill, hit the cross street, went still in reverse over an island, wiped out two signs and crashed into a car in the middle of the 4 way stop and stopped. My insurance is blaming it on driver error like they are blaming thousands of drivers over the same experience, stating that I mistook the gas pedal instead of the brake and also stating that I did not attempt to brake, that is so far from the truth, you can look at the track marks on the ground and tell I was standing on the brake. What is being done about these awful scenerios. My car is currently in copart being assessed. My car was serviced at the hyundai dealership ever since I purchased it, all the records are there and in my possession, I had low mileage, less than 48,000 miles and planned on holding onto the vehicle for at least 6 more years. Now my car is sabotaged, being blamed like 1,000 of other drivers over the car malfunctioning. There is a sensor for the Throttle, a sensor for the Gas Accelerator that the Computer Control Unit brain waits for the analytical data from both sensors and adds additional throttle to the situation. Once the car is turned off the entire system resets itself, so there is no evidence of high throttle, gas accelerators sticking and the driver is blamed. Since the insurance companies have insured these vehicles there is a lot at stake for these cases to be proven and for the Hyundai manufacturer as well. About 6 weeks ago, my car engine began to turn off while driving. Warning lights flash on the gauge cluster. The vehicle has limited mobility for 20–30 seconds, then loses all power. This was incredibly dangerous when driving at highway speeds, as the car simply stopped. There were no warning lights or issues before this began happening. I took it to a local mechanic who identified several error messages and replaced the battery, throttle, sensors, and other parts, but the problem persisted. They could not identify the cause but verified the problem. I took the car to the Skagit, WAHyundai dealership, where they determined it was a failure in the oil pump. This exact problem is under an active recall for other Hyundai Elantra model years.

Within three months of purchasing this vehicle, I started having engine light and oil consumption issues. Within the 4 years of owning, they've replaced the catalytic converter twice, many valves, and others. I had to purchase and add multiple quarts of oil to just maintain oil levels. I've had multiple occasions where my vehicle slowed to only up to 55 miles an hour while on the interstate. The vehicle had issues accelerating where an accident almost occurred because pulling into a shopping plaza, the vehicle couldn't drive up a minor hill and almost remained in the intersection. I've had multiple times where I was stuck on the side of the road in different environments, a few of which I was genuinely worried for my safety. This last incident I did not feel safe to drive where I needed to go so I got off the interstate to travel down a local road where the vehicle stalled in the middle of a 5 lane (one direction) busy road. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership and warranty representatives. The engine and oil lights were the main issues, every time a light came on I reached out to the dealership to get it looked at. I received notice of many engines being recalled and repaired in 2022 yet Hyundai has only put bandaids on my engine.

Unknown. Why is NHTSA giving Hyundai such slack? It has been well over six months since Hyundai has alerted us of the safety recall, but has to yet to act on recall 251. They say the car would be safer outside, but many of us who live in high rises don’t have that luxury as our multi-level garages are either attached to or beneath the living units. Hyundai should be compelled to act right away, or buy their cars back. NHTSA should act immediately.

Please note that this is not reporting incidents, accidents, collisions or injuries. This is reporting actions taken regarding, (previously referenced here), the Important Safety Recall Number 251. Although this problem was recorded in September of 2023 (please refer to [XXX] ), I only recently received this Safety Recall notice in the mail on Monday, November 27, 2023. The notice states: "due to fire risk, you are strongly advised to park your vehicle outside and away from structures until the recall remedy is completed." It also states the car is not safe to drive. I do not have another place to park my car. I contacted my local Hyundai dealer several times, urging them to please hold my car until Hyundai fixes the ABS fuse problem. I was told by the Hyundai dealership that they will not hold my car, while we wait for them to fix the ABS fuse problem. I am asking for your help in having Hyundai hold the car temporarily, as It is imperative to do so for safety reasons. Thank you. I'm beyond frustrated! I dropped my car off Saturday May 18th and got my vehicle back on Monday June 26th for my car to completely stop working and not cut on come July 2nd. I called Hyundai of Concord 3 times and left multiple voicemails for Dennis to return my calls. I spent $799 in repairs to walk away thankful I completed the needed repairs to run correctly. In return I spent $799 for NOTHING! My car won't start! I understand the 4th is tomorrow, but the most professional thing is to address my concern. June 26th I was provided with a diagnostic and NOTHING on my diagnostic signified I had an urgent repairs that would prevent my car from starting. I'm extremely unsatisfied. I trusted Hyundai of Concord being that I live closer than Keffer Hyundai! I'm so disappointed! I will be without a car until who knows how long! I finally got a call back from Dennis who rudely cut me off as I was talking and did not provide a resolution. Dennis advised me Tony the regional manager would be contacting me, but hasn't. I also left two voicemails for Tony and no call back! Staff is incompetent and not helpful! I was forced to trade in my vehicle due to lack of response from Modern Hyundai of Concord!

The Pearl White Paint on my 2015 Hyndaui Elantra has been chipping continuously. In 2017 I had the car repainted and also in 2019 I had the car repainted. Now it’s 2023 and the car is chipping paint again. I was told my cars VIN number wasn’t apart of the known paint recall for this color. But clearly the 2015 pearl white Hyundai’s should be included. I see many white Hyundai’s with chipping paint. It’s ridiculous.

i only have 4,100 miles on my vehicle. several months ago i was driving and i could not go over 40 mph, even putting the pedal to the floor. NO WARNING LIGHTS EVER CAME ON, could not find the transmission plug to check that fluid. brought to the dealer even though vehicle was running okay several days later to find out why this happened. their machine did not pick up anything wrong. i only do city driving so i rarely go over 40 mph. dealer blamed bad gas. could it be possible that because i hardly ever go over 40 the vehicle put itself in limp mode. dealer did not check my transmission fluid even though i asked them to. the us postal service sends me pics of the mail i will receive for that day. around june 14 2022 it showed a letter from 2015 hyundai elantra official business penalty for private use 300 important vehicle information address change? please contact our customer service dept- can you please send me that letter

Both of my front power window regulators broke while driving with my children in the car. When they broke I was rolling the window down in June, nothing else. The jazzers is that there was a loud metallic sounding bang, similar to something like a brick or a rock hitting the car, which was enough to make me and my children scream and I of course reacted by squinting or shielding and almost crashed into the person in front of me in traffic the 2nd time, the first one was the drivers side and I was on a parkway in May (one month after the car turned 5 years old) Thank goodness I didn’t but this is a huge hazard that could of resulted in someone getting hurt. I know there are many of these issues and because my car is 6 years old and under 100,000 miles (only 62,000) it doesn’t qualify for warranty coverage. I can’t roll my windows down and I have one window taped up temporarily until I can afford to fix it.

Purchased my car from CarMax in February 2020 as a used vehicle with 30k miles on it and towards the end of 2020 around September I noticed my car paint was literally falling off in small chips and in November a huge chunk of paint fell off my the trunk part of my car. I went to the Hyundai center on Cassatt to see if it can be repaired by warranty and I was informed they couldn't do it but would file a good will claim on my behalf. I waited months for my claim to be processed and it was never done. I filed a complaint with Hyundai Corporate office and after waiting 3 months to hear from them they said they couldn't do anything. I discovered online that there was a lawsuit filed against Elantra for cars that had pearl white paint and it was thrown out. I also discovered there are currently thousands of complaints on Facebook in an Elantra car group where people who recently purchased Elantras within the past 5 years that carried pearl white paint are having the same issues and have also filed a complaint and their complaint is being ignored because Elantra is claiming expired warranty and no recall when they in fact have had recalls on cars with white pearl paint. They are not accepting responsibility for defective paint and they aren't willing to do another recall when clearly there are many people upset about this issue and it's gonna cost people thousands to fix the paint on cars they are still paying for. It's not fair to the customers who spent their money and it's not right and I believe an investigation should be a factor to the complaints of many customers who are left with a huge bill just a few months after buying. No recalls were on my car fax paperwork and I felt deceived by the purchase I made.

On about October 3, 2021, around 5 pm ET my car, a 2015 Hyundai Elantra, shut off while driving. I waited a few minutes and it started; I was able to make a u-turn and it shut -off again. I waited a few minutes and my car started. I drove home slowly and ran through a stop sign to keep my car from shutting off again. On October 4, 2021, I had my car towed from my home to Jim Ellis Hyundai in Atlanta. On October 5, 2021, the dealer said because they are not able to replicate the error, they cannot repair my car and to come and pick it up and pay a diagnostic fee. My car has a remaining 10 year/100,000-mile warranty on the engine, transmission and trans axle. I searched the internet and found that my car model and other Hyundai models have shut off/stalled while driving. The dealer service mgr. responded that these internet articles don't mean anything. For safety reasons, I have not picked up the car because I am afraid to drive the car. The dealer states they will drive around and try to replicate the issue, but refuses to repair the car, or provide a loaner or car rental reimbursement during this ordeal. I have filed a complaint with their Consumer Affairs Dept., the Better Business Bureau and the Georgia Consumer Affairs Office. The consumer provided information a lawsuit pertaining to the same year, make, and model of her vehicle.
