When owners complained
A spike years after the car went on sale usually means a part wearing
out on schedule across the whole fleet — the kind of pattern no single
owner can see from inside their own car.

NHTSA investigations into the 2015 Hyundai Genesis Coupe
An investigation is the step before a recall: the agency has seen enough
complaints to look into a pattern itself. An open one means it thinks
something may be wrong and nothing has been fixed yet.
The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received eight Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) and eight Kia America, Inc. (Kia) Part 573 Recall Reports between 2016 and 2023. The combined 16 safety recalls all involve the antilock braking system (ABS) modules or Hydraulic Electronic Control Units (HECU) manufactured by the equipment supplier Mando. The Part 573 Recall Reports contain varying defect descriptions and differing remedy descriptions for the same or similar equipment supplied by Mando. Safety recalls included in this Audit Query (AQ) review include: Hyundai recalls 20V-520, 20V-543,...
Recalls on the 2015 Hyundai Genesis Coupe
A complaint is one owner's allegation. A recall is the point at which
the manufacturer or a regulator agreed the defect is real and dangerous
enough to fix for free — however old the car is.
Canada — Transport Canada
Canada runs its own recall programme, and its campaigns do not
always mirror the American ones.
Recall 2024080353,849 units in Canada
Brakes
Issue: On certain vehicles, brake fluid could leak into the control module for the antilock brake system (ABS) and cause it to short circuit. Note: This recall replaces recall R0246 (Transport Canada recall number 2023-527). For the Sonata model, only the Sonata Hybrid model is affected by this recall. Safety Risk: A short circuit could create a fire risk, even while the vehicle is parked and turned off. Corrective Actions: Hyundai will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the fuse for the ABS module. Hyundai recommends that you should park your vehicle outdoors and away from other vehicles or structures until the recall repairs have been completed.
Recall 2023527326,942 units in Canada

This recall was replaced by Transport Canada Recall No. 2024-080. Issue: On certain vehicles, brake fluid could leak into the control module for the antilock brake system (ABS) and cause it to short circuit.
Recall 2023125404,543 units in Canada
Brakes
Issue: Hyundai is conducting a special service campaign that provides anti-corrosion treatment to certain underbody components. Over time, components under the vehicle, including brake lines could corrode. If this happens, a brake line could fail and leak. A brake fluid leak can result in reduced braking. Safety Risk: Reduced braking can cause an extended stopping distance and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Hyundai will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the underbody, including the brake lines. The dealer will apply an anti-corrosion treatment to certain parts, and replace the brake lines if necessary.
Recall 201650815,756 units in Canada
Airbag
On certain vehicles, objects or debris located under the front passenger seat could contact the electrical connector of the Occupant Classification System (OCS) and disconnect the connector if the seat is moved. This would disable the OCS and illuminate the instrument cluster Air Bag warning lamp. If the OCS is disabled, the first stage front passenger airbag would deploy in a frontal collision, regardless of the weight and size of the front passenger seat occupant. If the seat were to be occupied by a child seat or small statured occupant, it could increase the risk of injury. Additionally, this condition could cause the second stage of the frontal passenger airbag to fail to deploy during a crash, which could increase the risk of injury to the front passenger seat occupant. Correction: Dealers will secure the OCS connector to prevent it from being disconnected.
Recall 20155562,848 units in Canada
Powertrain
On certain vehicles equipped with manual transmissions, the mounting bolts securing the rear differential may not have been properly fastened due to the suspension’s rear crossmember and differential. Over time, the bolt(s) may loosen, and could cause the driveshaft to separate from the differential, which would result in excessive noise and loss of motive power, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect, and affect repairs as necessary.

My car was leaking brake fluid but no spots on ground. My brakes started locking and not work at all. After having car serviced multiple times my brakes completly stopped all together. Left for mechanic and my car in the engine bay caught fire. Burned completly for total loss. ABS modularor had recall causing engine bay fires. Was wondering if this was why

The differential mounting bolt on the passenger side (the only one on that side) backed out and broke causing that side of the differential to smack the bottom of the car and then sag on the passenger side after letting off the throttle. Once it dropped it made the car come to a compete stop fast. Luckily there was no accident. This exact issue has already been fixed previously under recall, due to this the dealership nor manufacturer is wanting to fix it under the recall again. VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
There is a code that comes on my car, makes the engine light come on then it goes out on its own . And every year it’s back on same code. Has been happening for years . I took it to the dealership 2xs for the same reason each time they said nothing was wrong cleared the code and the engine light went out. This year being the 9th year having the vehicle the engine light kept coming back on every day after it was cleared and nothing found. So the Happy Hyundai dealership ship said leave the car overnight and see if the engine light is back on and if so he can see then what the issue is because it won’t be historical. I paid $212 for diagnostic, and then a few days he said leave overnight. He discovered that the throttle body had an issue and suggested cleaning. But the car goes in limp mode and I couldn’t accelerate but 20-25 mph. The first 20 mins of driving every day. Then it takes off. He determined that an accelerator pedal position sensor was bad. And I went years without any one diagnosing this. My car only has 34550miles approximately. And it’s almost 9 years old. 34k miles a sensor shouldn’t be bad that soon. The codes were P0651/ and P2106. And now in 2024, someone finally figured it out. But now it’s been almost 9 years and I’m paying $900 or 1k for replacement when it was clearly something wrong years ago . Undiagnosed.

While driving I noticed an engine noise/rattle about 3000RPM. The engine seemed to run fine but was making this abnormal noise. At 73,083 miles I towed the car to the Hyundai dealer. They found an anomaly in cylinder #5 and recommended engine replacement but refused warranty powertrain coverage because I am not the original owner. They also refused goodwill coverage even though this is a known issue with Hyundai engines.

AFTER REFUELING MY VEHICLE ON THE EVENING OF 11/09/2017, THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD NOT COME ON USING THE "AUTO-ON" FEATURE. THEY DID WORK WHEN SWITCHED TO "ON". THE DOORS WOULD NOT LOCK AND THE SEAT BELT LIGHT WAS ON "CONSTANT" AND THE SEAT BELT CHIME WAS AUDIBLE FOR (15) MINUTES OF THE (30) MINUTE DRIVE.
