On June 13, 2026 my 2023 Range Rover Velar (79,772 miles) suffered a sudden, complete engine failure at highway speed on HWY 70 in Durham, NC. No warning lights, oil pressure alerts, or dashboard notifications appeared before or during the failure. The vehicle had operated well since purchase with no prior issues of any kind. I was to cross the hwy onto the shoulder, this was a serious safety hazard for myself and other motorists. Land Rover is holding me liable for $32,000 in repairs, claiming a maintenance interval overage of ~36,000 miles caused the failure. No written root cause analysis has been provided. I am disputing this for four reasons: 1. RECALL N763 / N763v3: This recall covers a camshaft carrier oil gallery defect on 2023-2024 Velar engines causing oil leaks and engine damage. My VIN falls outside the listed range, but my failure is fully consistent with this defect. I request evaluation for recall expansion. 2. OIL FILTER HOUSING TSB: A TSB for 2023 Velar Ingenium I6 3.0L engines documents oil filter housings cracking and causing high-pressure oil leaks — a second documented oil system defect matching my failure. 3. NO WARNING LIGHTS: Recall N763 states affected vehicles display an oil pressure warning before engine damage. No warning appeared on my vehicle before complete engine failure at highway speed — indicating either the warning system failed, or the failure was too sudden and structural to trigger it. Both are safety risks. 4. MANUFACTURER BAD FAITH: Land Rover attributes this failure to maintenance neglect with no written diagnostic evidence, despite a documented federal recall covering the same defect pattern on the same engine family. I request NHTSA: - Evaluate my VIN for inclusion in expanded Recall N763; - Investigate whether the warning system functioned as designed; - Investigate if Land Rover is systematically using maintenance neglect claims to deny recall-related repairs outside the current VIN range.

UNKNOWN the vehicle has had a check engine light since purchase, the doors do not lock, the SOS systems failure, ENGINE FAULT SYSTEM and BRAKE SYSTEMS illuminate regularly. The vehicle has stranded my kids and I after purchasing, where the dealer has cleared the codes and promised it’s fine repeatedly.

As I was driving down the interstate doing about 75 miles per hour the car lost all power without a warning. It was at night in the middle of no where. I almost had a bad accident but I was able to veer off the road before the car brakes locked. I was unable to use safety flashers.

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2022 Land Rover Range Rover Velar. It was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a dealer sale. At the time of the purchase, the mileage was approximately 27,300. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for software updates months after it was purchased. A technician performed software updates and informed the contact of a mileage discrepancy. The scan tool displayed an approximate mileage of 45,000. The contact had not driven the vehicle in several months, and the mileage could not have increased while not being driven.

Summary: Remote start causes repeated, predictable failure of critical safety systems including traction control, hill descent control, and automatic emergency braking. Description of Problem: When the vehicle is started using the factory app for phones, the lower infotainment screen (the climate/drive assist panel) frequently fails to initialize properly. As a result, the icons and functions for Traction Control, Hill Descent Control do not illuminate or activate. The vehicle then displays warnings such as “Hill Descent Control Not Available” and “Automatic Braking Not Available.” This failure occurs approximately 99% of the time when using remote start. If I begin driving with the vehicle in this state, all of these systems remain deactivated. These features are essential for safe driving especially in winter conditions yet the malfunction leaves the vehicle without stability control, hill descent functionality, and automatic braking assistance. Safety Concern: This issue creates a dangerous situation where the vehicle behaves unpredictably and lacks core safety features required for traction, stability, and controlled braking. This is particularly unsafe in cold, icy, or low-visibility environments where remote start is most likely to be used. Reproducibility: The issue occurs consistently after remote start. If the vehicle is parked, fully shut down, locked, and left undisturbed for 10–15 minutes, the systems return to normal. The malfunction clears before the dealership can inspect it, leaving no fault codes stored. Dealer Response: The dealership has been unable to diagnose the issue because the fault resets itself before technicians can observe it. They report “no codes stored,” yet the problem persists daily and is easily reproducible by any owner using remote start. Why This Needs Investigation: This is not an isolated glitch. It disables multiple federally-regulated safety systems. A potential software or integration failure is affecting the control module

When I’m driving my high beams automatically come on and blind the drivets ahead of me. They come on by themselves and it’s not even dark enough for them to be on. It happens when I’m on the freeway going to work. This has happened more than once. It’s happened four times already and it worries me cause I don’t want someone to think I’m flicking my high beams at them!!!

Well maintained vehicle I’ve been sole owner of. Driving normally along highway at normal speed. Electrical issue warning alert pops up, immediately goes away. This happened again, car fills with smoke and is immediately on fire. Happened very quickly. Have had zero issues with this vehicle otherwise. No warnings. Car was functioning perfectly leading up to the incident.

Driver side door will not lock. I took it to the dealership and they replaced the door handle and it worked for a little while. The vehicle locks after you start driving but when you unlock or open the door you can’t relock the car. This is a safety issue. I have taken it to many repair shops and they say it is not the mechanism, it is the software issue. Land Rover continues to say it is not. I have found that many people have had the same issue on different forum.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
I've been having various start/stop issues with my car in the middle of traffic with are real safety issues. My first visit at Land Rover dealership was back on July 12, 2024 for a powertrain recall. Full inspection during that time revealed that everything else worked fine with my car expect that a new set of tires were needed. Since then, I had intermittent window and blinder issues not working and various not functional start/stop feature. I had to replace the window driver switch and recently, I started having start up issues and have changed the battery. Going back to the dealer for inspection, I was informed that the reason why my car will randomly stopped in the middle of traffic is I need an update of my software transmission control module. I feel is a fundamental safety issue that was undetected from previous visit. Other issues that were raised by the dealer include an oil leak and the need to replace both the supercharger adn main drive belt because of oil saturation. I would add that this type of car had a known water pump manufacturing issues that I am not sure has been recalled. I also had to bear the costs of replacing the water pump for my car.I would like Jaguar/Land ROVER to cover these costs of repairs and work with me to address the outstanding issues specially the software related issues.

I am writing to bring to your attention a series of critical malfunctions I have experienced with the InControl Touch Pro infotainment system in my 2020 Range Rover Velar. The persistent issues outlined below pose a significant safety risk and warrant immediate action through a comprehensive vehicle recall. USB Connectivity Static: When utilizing the USB connection, the audio output is excessively staticky, compromising the overall driving experience and distracting while driving. Navigation Screen Freezing and Blackout: The navigation screen frequently freezes and blacks out during operation, particularly while driving. This not only hampers the navigational capabilities of the vehicle but also raises serious safety concerns as it interrupts the focus on the road. Real-time Display Failure While Reversing: The infotainment system fails to provide real-time visuals while reversing, as the screen freezes. This deficiency nearly resulted in a collision with a pedestrian at a grocery store I was at when backing up. CarPlay Malfunction: The CarPlay functionality is consistently unreliable, impacting seamless integration with essential mobile applications and causing unnecessary frustration which is distracting while driving. Dropped Calls While Driving: Calls constantly drop during driving, creating an unsafe situation as I have been compelled to divert attention from the road to address the issue, endangering both myself and others on the road. Recurrent Service Visits: My vehicle has already been in for service at Land Rover twice due to these issues, indicating that the problems persist despite attempted resolutions. A comprehensive recall is recommended to rectify these systemic failures. These issues collectively create an environment of unpredictability and compromise the safety of drivers and pedestrians alike. The intermittent nature of these technological malfunctions are examples why the urgency of a vehicle recall to address safety issues.

Safety feature: Day time running led light is not working properly. Turns on when the engine starts but then cuts off. The problem is that in order to repair the issue the whole headlight assembly has to be replaced. The dealer refuses to replace the assembly under the extended warranty because they indicate led lights aren’t covered. Due to the complexity of the issue and the cost of the part, the life expectancy of the part should last well past 5 years. All other dealerships cover the replacement of this part under their extended warranty as it is a common issue.

The latest incidence of this problem occurred while paused in an intersection waiting to turn left when the flow of traffic allowed. As has happened on other occasions, when attempting to proceed forward from a stop, the transmission had changed to Neutral. The shifter position could not be changed without shutting off the car and turning it back on. All the while people behind are blaring their horns and oncoming traffic is resuming. This problem has occurred on numerous other occasion, most often when stopped at a stop light. It is an intermittent problem, and the majority of the time the car operates properly. However, it seems to be occurring more frequently lately. The problem has been reported to the dealer service department, and they could not duplicate it when the vehicle was provided for evaluation. They also say that there are no service bulletins on this. As an additional note, we thought perhaps this problem could be associated with the automatic shutoff feature, so we have been turning that off when driving the car. However, the problem still occurs when that is disabled.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE
The contact owns a 2022 Land Rover Range Rover Velar. The contact stated that the vehicle was designed with the auto Stop/Start system that allowed the vehicle to turn off while at a complete stop and to restart when releasing the brake pedal and depressing the accelerator pedal. However, while at the stop light, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to respond. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact noticed that the transmission was in neutral (N). The contact shifted into park(P) and then shifted into drive(D). The contact continued driving however, the failure reoccurred twice on two different occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where an unknown software update was performed; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and remained at the dealer for a month. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 500.
