RECALL REMEDY FAILURE-DEALER DENIED SAFETY REPAIR On 7/31 vehicle would shut off after cranking up. Eventually got a check engine light. I was out of town at the time and it was 630pm. I was able to take vehicle to a Advanced Auto so they could do a quick diagnostic check. Codes P0505--Idle Air Control System DTC Severity 2 of 3 and P0507--Idle Control System RPM Higher than expected also showed. I was able to drive back home but had to immediately give the car gas for the car to stay running. On 8/3 I contacted Land Rover/Jaguar and was told to bring the car in 8/4 for an appointment. By my 8/4 appointment I had already researched what could have been wrong with my vehicle and found that a recal for the same issue was done in 2022. Recall number--N627 H376..My land rover and VIN was associated with this recall. Once I arrived at the dealership and the car was looked at--it was determined the PCV assembly was bad (positive crankcase ventilator) and purge valve was bad. This is the exact same part (PCV) that was recalled in 2022. The dealership told me that the recall had been completed/closed in 2022 with the previous owner. I was told that I was responsible for the charges since the recall was completed in 2022. I do not believe this is correct. If the same issue happens again the manufacturer should reopen the recall again and I should not have had to pay for this. There was obviously another failure with the PCV assembly and the dealership/Land Rover Jaguar refused to fix the issue. In my research I also found out that this was an emissions recall and if not fixed I could possibly fail a DMV inspection check. In short--The exact same mechanical failure has returned and created an engine hazard. Land Rover/Jaguar refused to execute a permanent safety fix and charged me $1600 out of pocket for a failed safety component. I'm attaching information about PCV recall and can send invoice information/receipt when I can get it uploaded to my computer.

On June 13, 2026 my 2023 Range Rover Velar (79,772 miles) suffered a sudden, complete engine failure at highway speed on HWY 70 in Durham, NC. No warning lights, oil pressure alerts, or dashboard notifications appeared before or during the failure. The vehicle had operated well since purchase with no prior issues of any kind. I was to cross the hwy onto the shoulder, this was a serious safety hazard for myself and other motorists. Land Rover is holding me liable for $32,000 in repairs, claiming a maintenance interval overage of ~36,000 miles caused the failure. No written root cause analysis has been provided. I am disputing this for four reasons: 1. RECALL N763 / N763v3: This recall covers a camshaft carrier oil gallery defect on 2023-2024 Velar engines causing oil leaks and engine damage. My VIN falls outside the listed range, but my failure is fully consistent with this defect. I request evaluation for recall expansion. 2. OIL FILTER HOUSING TSB: A TSB for 2023 Velar Ingenium I6 3.0L engines documents oil filter housings cracking and causing high-pressure oil leaks — a second documented oil system defect matching my failure. 3. NO WARNING LIGHTS: Recall N763 states affected vehicles display an oil pressure warning before engine damage. No warning appeared on my vehicle before complete engine failure at highway speed — indicating either the warning system failed, or the failure was too sudden and structural to trigger it. Both are safety risks. 4. MANUFACTURER BAD FAITH: Land Rover attributes this failure to maintenance neglect with no written diagnostic evidence, despite a documented federal recall covering the same defect pattern on the same engine family. I request NHTSA: - Evaluate my VIN for inclusion in expanded Recall N763; - Investigate whether the warning system functioned as designed; - Investigate if Land Rover is systematically using maintenance neglect claims to deny recall-related repairs outside the current VIN range.

My 2019 Range Rover Velar P250 R-Dynamic SE began experiencing cooling system issues approximately 5 months after purchase. The vehicle was brought to an authorized Land Rover dealership several times during the warranty period. Despite these visits, the underlying problem — including cracked thermostat housing, leaking coolant hoses, and plastic cooling system components — was never permanently repaired. Over time, the unresolved defect caused catastrophic engine and turbocharger failure, which I paid for out of pocket. The cooling issues are consistent with known Land Rover service bulletins covering: “Thermostat housing / coolant outlet leaks”, “Coolant crossover pipe / O-ring leaks”, “Turbocharger coolant pipe leaks”. The defect substantially affects vehicle reliability, safety, and value. I am submitting this complaint regarding a serious safety and operability issue involving my 2018 Land Rover Range Rover, which has rendered the vehicle inoperable and unsafe to drive. Within approximately four months of purchase, the vehicle experienced repeated mechanical failures, including persistent check engine warnings, limp mode activation, failed compression testing, fuel injector failures across all cylinders, exhaust and turbo-related faults, and a full diesel particulate filter (DPF). The vehicle currently will not perform as designed and is unsafe to operate. The vehicle was repeatedly brought to Jaguar Land Rover South Orlando for service. Despite assurances that diagnostics showed “no issues,” the vehicle rapidly deteriorated and ultimately became inoperable. While in the dealership’s custody, additional concerns arose, including unauthorized third-party access to my vehicle without my consent and delays in releasing the vehicle for towing. Additionally, when the vehicle was finally released, the battery was fully depleted despite the vehicle being in the dealership’s possession and not operated by me, raising further concerns about improper handling. The dealership has quoted repair costs exceeding $13,500 and has refused to assist, citing “as-is” sale status, despite the vehicle failing shortly after purchase and exhibiting severe engine-related defects. These failures pose a potential safety risk due to loss of power, limp mode activation, and inability to safely operate the vehicle. I am concerned that these issues may reflect a broader defect pattern in this model year. I am requesting that NHTSA document this complaint and evaluate whether these engine, fuel system, and emissions-related failures present a safety defect warranting further investigation.

Well maintained vehicle I’ve been sole owner of. Driving normally along highway at normal speed. Electrical issue warning alert pops up, immediately goes away. This happened again, car fills with smoke and is immediately on fire. Happened very quickly. Have had zero issues with this vehicle otherwise. No warnings. Car was functioning perfectly leading up to the incident.

At approximately 39,000 miles, my 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Velar developed a coolant leak from the front lower crossover in the engine valley. A repair facility confirmed the issue and recommended replacement of the front upper and lower crossovers, water pump, and hoses. The repair estimate is $2,727. This problem is a known defect in other Jaguar Land Rover vehicles (crossover/elbow coolant leaks) that were subject to recalls and lawsuits, but my VIN is not currently included. The defect creates a serious safety risk: coolant leaks can cause sudden engine overheating, loss of power, or engine failure while driving, putting occupants and other drivers at risk. The issue has been diagnosed and confirmed by a service center. Prior to the diagnosis, I observed low coolant levels and warning messages. I believe this is part of a widespread defect affecting the 3.0L supercharged engine, and I urge NHTSA to investigate whether 2020 Velar vehicles should be included in recall coverage.

1. The components that failed were part of the coolant system, specifically the coolant pipes. JLR used plastic coolant pipes which over time deteriorate and lead to massive coolant leaks, and in my car it got so bad that even with the engine off the coolant would just pour out in a couple seconds. 2. This leads to severe overheating issues. While I was regularly driving home, the vehicle started smoking which prompted me to pull over. If I had kept going, there is a chance a catastrophic failure could have happened and put my life and others at risk since I was traveling on a high speed road. 3. This problem has been reproduced and reported by many owners, since the plastic coolant pipes have been used in many vehicles. The dealership also said they were aware of this issue and explained how the part deteriorates over time. 4. My car has not been inspected by the manufacturer, but has been by the dealership. 5. I did notice that the coolant was dropping a few weeks prior (it was significantly under MIN but no warning lights). I took it to the dealership and they conducted a pressure test but found no leaks. Then a few weeks later, as I was driving regularly, the vehicle started smoking and the low coolant light appeared. This was the first time the light appeared, and the coolant level was extremely low. I have videos/pictures of most things including the coolant level that prompted me to initially take the vehicle to the dealership, inspection report from the dealer, also the smoke and coolant level of the car during the breakdown, and the repair documents the dealer provided with the broken parts.

Auxiliary radiator has developed a leak which has led to “coolant low” message in the dash. ASE Certified shop inspection confirms auxiliary radiator needs to be replaced. This should be a recall covered repair as it is a known issue under TSB - JLRTB02027NAS1.
