NHTSA complaint #11747410 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
Date of Incident: XXX Location: [XXX] Vehicle Speed: 0 Description: The right front and right rear doors on my 2017 Lincoln Continental (VIN: [XXX]) became completely inoperable from the outside — the exact same safety defect addressed under recall 19S03. The recall repair was previously performed by an authorized Ford/Lincoln dealer, however that repair has since failed, leaving me with the same dangerous condition the recall was issued to correct. A door that cannot be opened from the outside while driving creates a serious safety risk to both the driver and passengers. I was forced to hire a locksmith just to access my vehicle and subsequently paid $1,142 out of pocket for professional diagnosis and parts. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate the adequacy of the recall 19S03 repair, as it has clearly failed to permanently resolve the defect. Ford should be held accountable for ensuring their recall repairs are effective and lasting. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
NHTSA complaint #11742865 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
Vehicle door handles are prone to failure and unresponsive for the lock/unlock. Potential safety concern for customers like myself which should be brought to Lincoln’s attention. Driver side door handle and other door handles known to be unresponsive when locking/unlocking with keys or pressing button behind door handle.
NHTSA complaint #11726993 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
Drivers door latch is failing to engage properly making it so the door can not closed right away. No matter how you close the door it always pushes right back open sometimes the door will semi latch but still poses the hazard of opening while driving. It has been inspected by the dealer to confirm the issue. There has been a recall for this exact issue however my vin number was not included and upon contacting Lincoln I was told there was nothing that they could do and my options were to wait until there could be the recall extended to my vehicle or just pay out of pocket. The dealership charges 2,600+Tax for the door latch replacement. As of now there is no warning lamps present and no warning lamps/driver display messages have appeared at all from the issue. If the door opens while driving there is the hazard of potential of falling out of the vehicle, or the door crashing into another object or vehicle causing an accident and or damage.
NHTSA complaint #11726717 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
The rear doors on my 2017 Lincoln Continental do not open from the outside when the exterior handle button is pressed. The doors do open from the inside. This failure is very similar to the symptoms described in Ford’s existing recall for defective door latches on 2017 Continental vehicles, but my VIN is not included in the recall. This is a safety hazard because first responders or bystanders may be unable to open the rear doors from outside during an emergency such as a fire or crash. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether the recall should be expanded to include additional VINs, including mine. The failure was intermittent initially and then the door latches eventually stopped working completely (from the exterior.

Drivers door latch takes a long time to unlatch/latch there have been numerous times where the door won’t close and stay closed. My door has also had to be left open as it won’t latch. This is a serious safety hazard there was a recall but my vin was not included.
NHTSA complaint #11724674 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
I have a 2017 Lincoln Continental that started off last year not letting me open one of my back doors from the outside (which I did take to the dealership and got a quote but was too expensive), two weeks ago, it was both back doors not opening from the outside, then last night, the front passenger door stopped opening from the outside. It does not matter if I have the doors locked or not, I cannot open the three doors from the outside. There is a recall for this condition, but not on my VIN. I am worried that I am not going to be able to get into my car at all soon, and this is concerning since I do take my husband and pets with me sometimes. My husband has had triple bypass surgery and if something happened and I could not get to him, this would be a major safety issue.
NHTSA complaint #11709303 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
This vehicle has been repeatedly getting a "Door Fault Service Required" alert on the dashboard. I have even had the burglar alarm (horn honking and lights flashing) go off for no reason in my garage with my garage door shut. This is the exact problem that was covered with safety recall 19S03. For some reason, my vehicle was not included as part of this recall, even though it was built at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant where the other problematic vehicles came from. The build dates that were included in the recall were from November 30, 2015 through November 14, 2018. My vehicle was apparently outside of this range, but the problem continues. The cutoff date ranges for this recall was obviously too narrow because the problem persists. Now, because the applicable range was too narrow, I am left to have to pay for a factory mistake. Please expand the affected dates on recall 19S03. This is an issue that poses an imminent threat to the safety of this vehicle because the door latch is intermittently operative. There is a potential for the door to open while driving which poses a risk of accident and/or injury.
NHTSA complaint #11684194 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
The 2017 Lincoln Continental started using electronic door latches. When they fail, there is no way to open the door from the outside other than to break the window. The driver side door is the only door that has an emergency escape latch. If someone is trapped inside the car, even though the door is unlocked, it will not open if the switch is faulty. There is a notice online calling out the issue [XXX] . I believe this is a safety issue because if a child or unconscious passenger is in the vehicle during an accident, the door cannot be opened without breaking the glass. They cost several hundred dollars to fix and should be on the MFR to replace due to safety concerns. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Rear passenger door will not open. Lincoln has active recalls on other VINs but mine is not included. I ask that mine be included. My door will occasionally pop open, but the most common problem is the handle will not engage from the outside. My Lincoln has the door handle on the trim piece. This is a common recall but my car is not included. It needs to be as not being able to open a door or it randomly opening poses threat or harm to myself and my family.

Door latch failed and will not unlock the front passenger door. Dangerous situation if the battery dies. Similar recall but Lincoln said there's nothing they can do only 2019 was recalled for that. Would not make an exception. Dealer was surprised and advised me to report.

The contact owns a 2019 Lincoln Continental. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the “No Key Detected” warning light was illuminated and the vehicle would not start. The contact stated that whenever the sign was off, the vehicle would start up right away. The contact stated that the vehicle would start normally while at his residence. The contact stated that he thought that there was an electrical interference that prevented the vehicle from starting and was worried that the failure occurred from another electrical source. The contact had towed the vehicle to a local dealer who could not duplicate the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact stated that the battery was in good condition and was not the cause of the failure. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 23,000.

THIS IS A COMPANY CAR AND I SOMETIMES WORK FROM THE BACK SEAT DURING MY TRAVEL TO CLIENTS AS IT'S LARGE AND COMFORTABLE. I RECENTLY HAD OCCASION TO MEET WITH A CLIENT DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER SO WE WERE IN THE REAR OF MY CAR FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES. AFTER THIS TIME I COULD NOT RELEASE THE DOOR LOCKS WITH THE KEYLESS REMOTE, I AM PARTIALLY DISABLED AND HAD TO CLIMB OVER THE FRONT SEATS TO MANUALLY RELEASE THE DRIVER'S DOOR! I WAS TRAPPED AND MY CLIENT WAS VERY UPSET. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE. ALL DOORS - WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE DRIVER'S DOOR ONLY OPEN WITH A SOLENOID! I AM TERRIBLY AFRAID THAT IN THE EVENT OF ACCIDENT PASSENGERS WOULD BE TRAPPED IN THE VEHICLE. I AM ASKING THE MANUFACTURER TO TAKE THIS VEHICLE BACK AFTER APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR OF USE. NOTE THAT THE DOORS CAN BE OPENED FROM OUTSIDE WHEN THIS OCCURS, JUST TRAPS PASSENGERS INSIDE THE CAR. I CAN NO LONGER DRIVE THIS CAR!

RANDOM PROBLEMS WITH MULTIPLE ELECTRICAL AREAS; APPROACH LIGHTS NOT COMING ON, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DEPROGRAMING PRESETS, INTERIOR LIGHTS, OUTSIDE MIRRORS FOLDING WHEN PROGRAMMED NOT TO DO SO, INTERIOR REAR VIEW MIRROR MARKEDLY CHANGING POSITION, HUD MALFUNCTIONING. LINCOLN TELLS ME THAT I AM NOT DRIVING IT ENOUGH AND THE BATTERY IS GOING DOWN. THAT THEN MAKES THE COMPUTER TO MALFUNCTION. THE LATEST ATTEMPT TO REMEDY THIS IS THE INSTALLATION OF A TRICLE CHARGER. THE CONNECTION TO IT HANGS OUT A HOLE IN THE GRILL WHERE I SUSPECT IT WILL BEAT MY BUMPER TO PIECES. THEY NOW TELL ME THAT I MUST STORE THE FOB NO LESS THAN 50 FEET FROM THE CAR SO THAT THE FOB TALKING TO THE COMPUTER WILL RUN THE BATTERY DOWN.
