The worst model year for it is 2019.
The vehicle’s air conditioning began turning on and off intermittently while driving. I initially had the issue inspected by an independent mechanic, who checked the refrigerant and confirmed that the freon level was normal. After further inspection, the mechanic determined that the radiator cooling fan was not operating properly. The failed cooling fan appears to be affecting the vehicle’s cooling system and air conditioning operation. A malfunctioning radiator cooling fan can create a safety concern because it may prevent the engine from receiving adequate cooling, potentially leading to engine overheating, especially during extended driving or in hot conditions. The vehicle could potentially become disabled while being driven if the engine overheats. The problem was reproduced and confirmed by an independent service center. The cooling fan assembly is available for inspection upon request. The vehicle has not been inspected by Nissan, police, or an insurance representative to my knowledge. Prior to the failure being identified, the primary symptom was the air conditioning repeatedly turning on and off unexpectedly. There were no known warning lights or messages prior to the issue. The refrigerant was checked and found to be at an appropriate level, which led the mechanic to further investigate the cooling system and identify the nonfunctioning radiator fan. Unkown whether the fan failure is related to a larger manufacturing or design defect. However, I am concerned because premature radiator cooling fan failures have been reported on Nissan Rogue Sport vehicles, and a class action lawsuit was filed in July 2026 concerning premature fan failures and engine overheating in certain 2017 to 2022 Rogue Sport models. As of mid 2026, Nissan has not issued an official recall for the radiator cooling fan assembly in the Rogue or Rogue Sport. Had to pay an excessive amount of money to get this repair
NHTSA complaint #11757323 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
The driver-side door and left rear passenger door do not properly lock or unlock using the key fob. This is a consistent issue and creates a safety concern because the doors may remain unlocked while the vehicle is in operation. This malfunction poses a potential security and passenger safety risk. Manually locking and unlocking the doors while entering, exiting, or operating the vehicle is inconvenient and could create hazardous situations. No warning lights, alerts, or diagnostic messages have appeared related to this issue. The vehicle is less than four years old and has been maintained under normal operating conditions. A failure involving the power door lock system should not occur at this stage of ownership.

I am reporting a serious safety incident involving my 2021 Nissan Rogue, which caught on fire unexpectedly on Feb. 6, 2026 approximately 4:30 am. The fire originated from the vehicle without warning and posed an immediate danger to life and property. The vehicle was parked at the time of incident. There were no actions taken that would reasonably explain a fire of this nature. This incident could have resulted in severe injury or death. I believe this may be related to a manufacturer defect involving fire risk, and I am submitting this report so NHTSA can investigate and take appropriate safety action to protect other drivers and passengers.

Door lock actuators on driver side doors failed after less than 4 years. Both were “burnt” out according to Nissan tech. Unable to lock, unlock doors. Safety concerns.

The CVT transmission in my 2018 Nissan Rogue Sport is malfunctioning and poses a serious safety hazard. The vehicle hesitates, loses power during acceleration, and displays warning lights while driving. This failure creates extremely dangerous situations, especially when merging into traffic, accelerating from a stop, or crossing intersections. Despite the widespread CVT issues in Nissan vehicles and identical symptoms reported in other Rogue models, Nissan refused to repair my CVT because they claim the Rogue Sport is not included in the extended CVT warranty. I also requested Goodwill Assistance due to the clear safety risk, but this was denied as well. The dealer quoted me around $1,500 just to diagnose the CVT problem, with repair costs likely much higher. It is unreasonable for a critical safety component to fail at this mileage and for Nissan to reject all support. This issue continues to occur unpredictably, and the vehicle can suddenly lose power during normal driving, putting me and others at serious risk. Nissan has refused responsibility despite this being a well-documented, safety-related CVT defect. I am filing this complaint because the malfunction poses a risk of crashes and injuries, and Nissan has declined to address a known safety problem.

The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport. The contact stated that upon entering and closing the door, the message "Door Ajar" was displayed. The dome lights failed to turn off. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined there was a failure with the electrical system for the crumple zone; the occupant sensor, ignition, and that the voltage was low. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 167,000.

The car would not start after it rained all day.I had it towed from my job at Walmart to Firestone and they said it was an electrical problem and that I need to have it towed to the Dealership .So I had it towed to the Dealership and they called me the next day and said it was an engine Harness. They also told me that this car was bought in March the 12th by the previous owner for the same problem.I brought this car from DriveTime on July the eleventh and they did not let me know that this car needed major work. Now they refuse to help me solve the problem.

My 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport is affected by recall 23V-093, related to the jackknife key potentially collapsing while driving and shutting off the vehicle. The only remedy currently offered is a spacer inserted into the key fob to permanently prevent the blade from folding. This disables the folding feature — a core function of the product — and turns a jackknife key into a permanently extended blade. I consider this an unacceptable fix. It does not restore the key’s intended design or function. No alternate solution (such as a properly redesigned or replacement fob) is offered. My dealer confirmed the “repair” is only the plastic spacer. Nissan Consumer Affairs escalated my case, but the call was dropped during transfer and I could not reach a resolution. I have not experienced a shutdown incident, but I am filing this complaint because the offered recall remedy removes a core feature and does not constitute a true repair. Nissan should be required to provide a fix that both eliminates the safety risk and restores original functionality.

The fuel gauge has failed. The ac unit has been finicky since I purchased the vehicle and has already received one repair. Fuel gauge has been reading incorrectly for 2 weeks now. Read that it is a common issue for the nissan rogue sports. A few days ago my forward collision warning came on and said system error. There were no objects in front of me or stuck to the vehicle.

I am first concern with the fact that the CVT transmission is not listed under the “component” section and this concern is a major problem many Nissan drivers are seeing. I would like to additional know how this transmission malfunction is not a safety concern as it tremendously affects the speed and operation of the vehicle regardless of maintenance. I have a 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport that recently started to stall at red lights and even lose speed acceleration while in operation. Upon researching what this issue could be I discovered that most 2015-2022 model Rogue have this issue and it associate with the CVT transmission! My question and maybe great fear is why this doesn’t constitute for an immediate recall for Nissan by the NHTSA?! There are multiple reports on this issue to support our claims yet nothing. I strongly advise someone look into this matter before any loss of life happens.

I believe my cars computer is being hacked. Some things I’ve noticed are stereo issues the volume goes up and down or the music skips intermittently. Some times the music turns off. The collision symbol prompts on the dash. Acceleration issues. Antilock breaks don’t work, sometimes. Safety features are being turned off. My maps goes offline. My update for maps in Nebraska isn’t listed but all the other states are listed. Awd button doesn’t work, sometimes. I am worried for my safety. I took it to Nissan and they updated the sonar component system. It helped some. Stereo issues are still present. Music is still turning off by itself. Volume is still going up and down and the radio not a CD is skipping intermittently. Nissan stated they have no testing to see if any malware has been installed. I contacted Nissan consumer affairs. They are chosing to do nothing at this time.

Several problems have shown up since purchasing this car in December of last year. The back window has rolled down on it's own about 6 times within the same week I purchased the car. The head unit in the vehicle had to be reset by the dealer when they first traded the car in, according to service history and it's still having problems. I can hear the other caller on phone calls intermittently but they can't hear me. My phone has briefly disconnected from the Bluetooth system saying it couldn't be found. I thought it might be a phone issue but I got another phone and it still does it. I have a video of the head unit being completely unresponsive. The music was playing but none of the buttons were doing anything when I pushed them and the map was all that it would show. I've also had issues with burning smells when using the heated steering wheel and heated seats. I believe there is an electrical problem causing all of this but since the dealer can't duplicate the problem when I've driven it into service, they are refusing to do anything. The collision detector also goes off on it's own when I'm nowhere near another car.

Hi. I was driving my Nissan car at around 45 to 50 miles per hour and the car abruptly/suddenly stopped in the middle of the road without any warning. I was about to be hit by other cars behind me but Thank God that didn’t happen. I am very scared of driving this car now. My kids also drive this car and I am extremely worried about their safety. I am hoping Nissan will do something. Extremely worried and scared.

The part that failed was the cooling fan. According to a litany of Google searches, and from a few dealerships, Nissan has known for years about faulty cooling fans and has done nothing about it. My cooling fan went out last night and sprayed coolant everywhere. Not only did the coolant become gaseous as it burned against the hot engine, this poses a huge safety issue as it can cause a vehicle to stall on the highway and become a safety hazard in the event that other vehicles ram into the stalled vehicle, and vice versa. This problem has been confirmed as an issue by the dealership that I go to and yet Nissan has refused to do anything about it. Prior to the failure, there were no warning lamps or signs, until it actually happened and then the check engine light came on. By then it was too late. This issue can cause problems if someone is driving on the highway and are none the wiser. After doing some research, there were class action lawsuits against a few 2013-2017 models of Nissan vehicles, but not for anything beyond that. Confirmed by the dealer, these issues are well known and could be fixed with a recall. Thankfully, my car was parked at the time of the incident, right before I started on a 45 minute drive back home from where I was at. I live in the Chicagoland area, where traffic tends to be high and had it happened on the highway, it could’ve caused an even bigger issue to those around me.

The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle failed to accelerate as needed. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal, but the vehicle failed to respond and was unable to merge into traffic. The contact stated that the vehicle shifted from drive without driver input. The contact stated that the vehicle was locked in an unknown gear. The contact pulled over and restart the vehicle with an unknown warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was due to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V093000 (Electrical System). The contact called an independent mechanic, who failed to determine the cause of the failure. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 56,000.
