A spike years after the car went on sale usually means a part wearing
out on schedule across the whole fleet — the kind of pattern no single

Recalls on the 2010 Pontiac G6
A complaint is one owner's allegation. A recall is the point at which
the manufacturer or a regulator agreed the defect is real and dangerous
enough to fix for free — however old the car is.
Canada — Transport Canada
Canada runs its own recall programme, and its campaigns do not
always mirror the American ones.
Recall 2014173194,314 units in Canada
Electrical
On certain vehicles, intermittent electrical connection faults may cause the brake lamps to illuminate without the brake pedal being depressed, or not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed. This could also interfere with cruise control, ABS and/or vehicle stability control function. Failure of the brake lights to illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed or erratic brake lamp function could increase the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will affect repairs.
Recall 201230740,045 units in Canada
Powertrain
On certain vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions, shift cable locking tabs could fracture without warning. If this occurs, the transmission may not be in the PARK position and may not match the gear position indicated by the shift lever. The driver would be able to remove the key from the ignition, but the door locks may not unlock automatically and the PARK indicator lamp would not be illuminated. The driver may not be able to restart the vehicle and the vehicle could roll away after the driver has exited the vehicle, resulting in a possible crash which may cause property damage or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will install a shift cable retainer clip, or replaced the shift cable, as necessary.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
I BOUGHT THIS CAR FROM A DEALERSHIP CALLED DRIVE NOW IN LEBANON TENNESSEE. ABOUT 2 MILES AFTER SIGNING AND TRADING MY VEHICLE FOR THIS ONE THE ESC, TC OFF, CHECK ENGINE, LOW TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR LIGHTS ALL CAME ON ON THE DASH. I TOOK IT TO THEM 4 DIFFERENT TIMES NOW AND THEY STATED TO ME IT'S AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM AND THEY CLAIMED TO HAVE FIXED IT!! A MONTH LATER IT ALL BEGAN AGAIN. IT STARTS WITH THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT GOING OUT THEN THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT GOES OUT AND THEN ALL THE LIGHTS COME BACK ON AGAIN. THIS TIME HOWEVER ONCE I REPLACED THE LIGHT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE I NOTICED IT HAD MELTED INSIDE THE WIRES. I DRIVE HOME AND SEEN THE CAR WAS SMOKING FROM UNDER THE HOOD AMD THE BATTERY CABLES WERE BLAZING WITH FIRE. LUCKILY I HAD A GALLON OF WATER THAT I PUT THE FIRE OUT WITH. I AM TERRIFIED TO DRIVE IT AND THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THEY ARE NO LONGER LIABLE TO FIX IT BECAUSE IT WAS ONLY THEIR PROBLEM FOR THE FIRST TWO WEEKS. SO NOW I HAVE A CAR PAYMENT ON A CAR THAT CAUGHT FIRE OVER THEIR ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING. WHAT DO I DO TO GET THIS CORRECTLY FIXED

SEAT BELTS
I lost my low beams about a year ago and also one high beam. Just one month ago that headlight went out also. I have read that there are wiring problems r/t the Pontiac G6. I am unable to drive my car at night without headlights. The fuses, bulbs and relay switches are intact and working. My mechanic says it’s a wiring problem. Is the manufacturing company responsible for this kind of problem? Other electrical issues are present. When my seatbelt is on I get a message that it is not. Sometimes if I wiggle or reinsert it the light goes out, but more often than not it is on. I also get messages that says my airbag isn’t working on drivers side. The check engine light goes on and off if I hit a good size bump. I also had a mechanic spray WD40 under my drivers seat and that made the check engine light go out for several months.

STEERING
The power steering angle sensor malfunctioned/stopped working properly at approx. 197,000 miles. The part was taken out and replaced by a local GM dealership. With the sensor malfunctioning, we experienced intermittent loss of power steering as well as shaking in the steering column which made it suddenly VERY difficult to steer. We lost power steering mid-drive many times and could have been killed because of this issue. The vehicle would be functioning completely normally and all of a sudden lose power steering mid-turn or while backing up and become nearly impossible to control. The problem was corrected out of pocket from us by a GM dealership service center. Unknown if it has been inspected. The dash light "ESC" would come on AS the power steering disengaged, but not until then. The dash display would also show "power steering" after we lost the power steering, but not before as a warning or anything.

The electric steering assist went out while driving, making it very hard to steer. I am in the process of getting this replaced. I will try to have the mechanic give me the old part so it is available. It was very hard to steer and stay in my lane. Could have easily gotten into an accident. No dealer, or independent service center has verified it yet. Trying to get it scheduled now. Nothing inspected yet. No warnings. The "Power Steering" light came on when it failed.

I will start my car with my power steering not working, turn it off and turn it back on and it will be working fine. I was driving down the road and it went out and I could not stop and restart the car because I was in mid traffic and not near a red light. The steering wheel is hard to control and takes all my effort to turn the steering wheel to get where I needed to go. My car has not been worked on about this recall order and I believe this is the problem that is occurring.
