FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE

The contact owns a 2007 Pontiac G6. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, there was a gasoline odor coming from the vehicle. The odor was also outside the vehicle. The contact became aware of a fluid leak underneath the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, and a fuel leak was confirmed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 13E043000 (Fuel System, Gasoline, Equipment). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that parts were not purchased from the manufacturer, so the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was unavailable.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

I bought my G6 in 2022. After about a year of having it, issues started happening. Everything was fine up until my passenger side airbag warning appeared on my radio screen and it won't go off. Could be a serious issue with the airbag. Maybe around the end of 2023 I started having problems with my power steering. I could drive down the road and all of a sudden my steering wheel would lock up. I could barely get myself to a spot to get off the road. I had to force the steering wheel to turn. I shut the car off for a minute or so just to see what would happen. After I turned the car back on the steering cleared, but as soon as I decided to go back home it locked back up. Now it's starting to lock back up this year. My major issue I have is the gas smell that's coming from the car. The smell is so strong, it's coming inside the car. When I went to get some tires put on car, the mechanic said he smelled the gas and there was a gas leak coming from the tank. The smell is so strong it can cause someone to pass out. It also causes the car to stall when trying to start it. I don't think this is safe. I have to drive my grand kids in my car. There needs to be a recall on this gas leak issue. Someone can get killed or badly injured if not taken seriously. I didn't have any warning signals appear at all about the gas/fuel issue.

2009 Pontiac G6 Mesa, AZ

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Strong fuel smell from rear of Pontiac G6 near fuel tank. This is a common problem due to a cracked elbow on top of the fuel pump. This issue is happening among all G6 models from 05 to 09 . This issue should be recalled as it is dangerous to the drivers , passengers or anyone that comes within 3 ft of Pontiacs that have this issue. Fuel odor can be smelt from further than 3ft that can damage to lungs, throat and multiple other health hazards. The fumes can reach even further witch is easily ignited if someone were to walk by with a cigarette This issue is common in 75% of Pontiac G6's on the road This defective part should be placed on recall and should definitely be looked into before someone loses their lives over an easily preventable occurrence from happening. Thank you for your time and please look into this issue before it's to late.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Electrical issue with my pontiac g6 I have had to replace my headlights bulbs multiple times due to the plugs melting I have actively seen the plug smoking and it has happened on both of my drl/low beam headlight bulbs resulting in plugs having to be replaced multiple times as well. My engine light isn't working and yet I have engine codes my service air bag light comes on at random my buckle seat belt light won't go off it stays on when I'm buckled in the driver's seat. My pressure sensor on my fuel tank has low voltage issues. When shutting the car off and opening the driver door all accessories that should of shut off are still active including the radio. The oil light is always turning on but the vehicle isn't low on oil nor does the message appear. When plugging in a car scanner the anti theft system light turns on and at random times will shut the car off. When the car scanner gets plugged in the rpms drop for a second and then go up as well. At times only one of my headlights work and I have to smack the headlight that isn't working to get it working.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Bad fuel leak , location from top of fuel cell, Definitely from the fuel pump area of the top of the tank. Can't drive because it leaks so bad that fuel is dropping on top of the exhaust pipes and I am afraid of a fire any time driving the vehicle.i really like the vehicle but can't drive it because of safety reasons. What now? I have read of other G6 Pontiacs having recalls done so why isn't my vin. Covered the same way? I am very concerned about this leak and for others with the same , considering that it is high risk for loss of life...

2006 Pontiac G6 Citrus Heights, CA

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

I had to replace the fuel pump module assembly because it was leaking fuel out from above the fuel tank and dripping down near the exhaust. A strong fuel smell alerted me to the issue and upon inspection we found fuel dripping out. This is a safety issue because leaking fuel near the exhaust is a possible problem for ignighting. There was no indication from the car itself that the leak was occurring. We had to figure it out ourselves and get it inspected at a shop and repaired immediately.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

I PURCHASED MY CAR IN 2016. WHEN I FILL IT UP WITH GAS THERE IS A VERY STRONG GAS ODOR THAT LASTS FOR DAYS. IF YOU WALK ANYWHERE NEAR THE CAR, EVEN IF IT HAS BEEN SITTING YOU SMELL A STRONG GAS ODOR. I PARK IN MY DRIVEWAY AND THERE IS A BIG STAIN WHERE GAS HAS LEAKED. I HAVE CHATTED WITH PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM FOR THIS YEAR OF CAR AND WAS TOLD THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THIS YEAR. I WAS TOLD IT IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND COULD RESULT IN FIRE. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE GAS FILLER TUBE IS CRACKED OR HAS OTHER DAMAGE TO IT. WITH SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL THERE SHOULD BE AN INVESTIGATION DONE TO FIND THE PROBLEM.
