SUSPENSION:REAR

The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, his wife heard an abnormal whining sound coming from the rear end of the vehicle. The contact pulled over and discovered fluid leaking from the pinion gasket. Upon discovery of the failure, the contact started driving to an independent mechanic; however, the rear wheels locked up. There was no warning light illuminated. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to the independent mechanic, who discovered that the pinion nut had detached from the vehicle, causing the pinion shaft to drop into the rear differential, which caused the rear wheels to lock up. The dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure, but the contact had not yet received a response. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 122,000.

The air suspension system on the truck fails, it will not raise. I’ve replaced almost all the components of the air suspension system and it’s still not working. The system fails in any type of weather but often it does so more in winter. System has been reset multiple times. Compressor has been replaced twice, relay replaced, fuses replaced, lines have been checked, height sensors have been replaced. Looking at online forums, this seems to be an issue with many Dodge Rams of 2014 as well as other years.

honestly the compressor failed for the air suspension and keeps failing many times for many people in different altitudes and humidity levels as you guys should already know by now. the system is supposed to be a sealed system that no air should be able to get into, right? so my question and things i really would like you guys to look into is why, if this true why do they need a dryer for the n2 gas based system they is not supposed to be able to get air in it? more so when n2 gas is supposed to expel moisture and being a dry gas. I bought this truck in Colorado and in the dry cold of Colorado I had no issues like this but the moment i had my first winter in a more humid environment and it dropped to 20 degrees Fahrenheit the system failed such as the fact that im in Texas now. being a sealed system no air is able to vent out unless triggered buy certain modes so my ride just leveled out to normal drive mode but will not engage the compressor properly. I'm currently in college though just starting for diesel engines even my instructor is stumped. this system to me doesn't make sense and its failing from what I gathered in more humid cold environments not so much dryer cold, and popping the fuses by trying to pull more power to dry the system that supposedly isn't getting moister in it. so this system is clearly flawed and doesn't make seance plus it also truly depends on how and where the company tested the product. in the end my suspension triggered the red code of immediate air suspension repair/replacement and no longer works properly this is almost a 500 dollar fix that many have to do every winter including me. some may have to pay more for those who cant do it themselves. please investigate the compression and dryer system in higher humidity and extreme cold based environment and if im right im right if im wrong im wrong. i just want answers and the problem fixed since this issue has been going since 2013 to now.

Stellantis/Ram for over 10 months now have claim that the ABS Module is under engineering review to me. The ABS Module controls the brake anti skid, sway control, cruise control and other systems. Since 3/2024 I've tried to replace this module but it's not in stock because of not being produced. It's a manufactured control item only. I was informed by Gator Dodge this has been a problem for almost a year now if not longer. Called Stellantis/Ram and was informed to go to a junk yard to get a replacement with no product control. Tried to exchange it for a new truck but the dealer does not want it on it"s lot because of no anti skid and other functions this module controls. If it's not safe enough for Ram to sale how can it be a safe vehicle on public road ways? To answer any questions, yes the truck has been inspect by Gator Ram and a certified independent mechanic. As a retired Airline Captain if this was a plane the FAA would have grounded it until the problems were address.

My front ball joints went out own my 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 truck recently and had to be replaced the vehicle only had 58, 343 miles at the time. I contacted Chrysler even though the vehicle was not under warranty, because one of there team members said all the could do was try to get me a reimbursement, but I was recently denied. The vehicle also has right arm shifter issues that keep occurring even though I have had it repaired at the Chrysler dealership in Stockton, Ca. I paid around 27,000 for this vehicle in 2019 at Fremont Toyota in Fremont, Ca. The vehicle had supposedly over 21,000 miles own it at purchase.

Approximately 1 year ago, the factory air suspension system on my 2014 Ram 1500 Limited would cease to function, displaying an alert saying "Air Suspension Immediate Service Required", and the suspension system would drop down to the point that the truck suspension was riding on the bump-stops. I took the vehicle to a Dodge/Ram Dealership service center, where the suspension compressor and air distribution valving was replaced, costing of $5,000.00. Initially this cured the problem, but a few months later, the problem cropped up again. This issue has now progressed to the point that at about 30=45 minutes into driving, the same alert comes up on my dash display, with the same results.

Front suspension bracket where the crossmember is welded to the frame. The weld failed and separated from the frame. Possible metal fatigue. Vehicle was driving in a straight line at low speeds when it became wobbly and unstable driving. Pulled to the right hard and almost caused a wreck. Components separated causing brakes to stop working, damage to oil pan, inner & outer tie rod, spring, shock, bushings, tire, wheel, and body damage. Would have been detrimental and potentially fatal if this happened with speeds higher. Vehicle is not drivable and had to be towed by rollback. Emergency brakes had to be used in order to stop vehicle.

The factory installed air suspension has failed more times than I can count. It’s has been going on for years mainly during the winter months, but so far this year with the warmer weather it still fails probably at least once or twice a week. This issue puts everyone in danger that is around these trucks while the are having these issues with the suspension air bags deflating when on public roadways. The truck is available for inspection anytime and I encourage you to follow up with any of these trucks with complaints that suffer the same issue because if you do maybe you will realize that we are not all just crazy. This is a serious issue that needs addressed by the manufacturer. The message of immediate air suspension service required shows on the dash, or air system cooling. The defect has been confirmed/observed/examined by multiple members of law enforcement because the truck is terrible to drive and bounces so bad as it drives straight down the road with minimal bumps. The report was mentioned to dealerships before but the act like they have never heard of this issue 🤷🏼‍♂️. I don’t know how that’s possible.

I bought this 2014 RAM December of 2022. I drove the truck from Charlotte NC to Cleveland Ohio and back with no issues the week after I purchased it. At the end of January this year the FACTORY AIR SUSPENSION started giving me trouble. The Air bags deflate and will not pump back up and it becomes almost un drivable because it bounces violently and it slams down hard on the bump stops so hard it literally jars your insides and this is very very dangerous. The truck seems to have a mind of its own because it does this and then anywhere from 1-15 days later the warning lights go away and it seems to work just fine. It will pump back up and stay like it's supposed to be for anywhere from 1 day to a week and then it just automatically on its own deflates again all the way down to the bump stops and it is a terrible unsafe to drive all over again. This cycle has gone on and on and on since January. I have done all kinds of research and it seems there are possibly thousands of these trucks out there with this same issue and no factory recall that I'm aware of. Now a truck out on the roads and highways with no suspension I believe is very very dangerous I mean it literally feels like it's riding on square tires and the bouncing is so so violent and it slams down so hard after a larger bump or pot hole in the road it feels like something could actually just snap or break off. Most people like myself can't afford to make payments on a vehicle like this and she'll out thousands of dollars on a repair that is clearly a factory/ manufacturing issue and not something caused by me or any other customers with this same issue. I could really use some help with this because without transportation I can't work and driving the truck this way is going to possibly kill me or some other innocent people and I don't want that to happen for sure so I hope to hear back with some encouraging news from you guys on this issue. Thank you very much. [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6

While driving on the highway my air suspension fails dropping my front end all the way to the frame stops causing speed wobble and an almost loss of control. After replacing a fuse dude to the compressor failing The very next day the right rear dropped while driving causing unsafe driving conditions. This is the third time in 6mo that this has happened with my truck. My truck is welcome to be inspected anytime. My safety, my kid’s safety, and other on the road are in danger if this happens and I lose control. There was no warning besides a service air suspension immediately notification on my dash as it was happening. There are thousands of reports of this being an issue in 2014-2019 ram trucks with air suspension. The dealer and manufacturer have been no help and I’ve been told by the dealer even after fixing it it will fail again in cold weather. This needs to be addressed NOW this is crazy this has not been corrected by Dodge.

For numerous years my 2014 Ram 1500 Laramie with 4 wheel air suspension has been failing. 1: When it fails it mostly drops the complete left side and the steering wheel is off center to the right approximately a 1/4 turn and alters the steering behavior pulling the truck to the right while driving. This alters the alignment of the truck. 2: The truck also at times drops all of the air out of the system and the truck is riding on its jounce bumpers / suspension stops making it very dangerous to drive. When operating on the roadways with bumps or pulling into parking lots the read of the truck can launch into the air and a hard jarring is felt throughout the truck, and is dangerous to drive on slippery surfaces such as snow/ice covered roadways when the system fails. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer numerous times and Stellantis ( FCA ) has previously sent a representative up only to suggest a new compressor ( Its had 3 now ) which was replaced in the last few months and now the system has failed again. Vehicle has been inspected by a stellantis service service representitive in the early summer of 2022. It displays " Immediate Air Suspension Service/Repair Required " I have taken photos almost every time showing mileage of when the incidents happen. This issue is a North American safety issue with quite a few failures between the USA and Canada. So much so that the Canadian owners have started a class action lawsuit. Napoli Shkolnik Canada are the lawyers filing the class suit. It should be noted that Jeep Grand Cherokee's are also having the same issues.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? my suspension and also my engine are the first problems that i have noticed while driving this vehicle. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? When I drive I am scared to go even the speed limit of 30mph because my suspension makes my car bump aggressively and also there is a loud ticking noise I notice under the hood I have looked up reviews of this vehicle and seen that others have similar complaints for the dodge ram 2014 1500. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center?] I took it into palmens dodge dealership and they didn't want to diagnose the vehicle unless the took the engine apart though they said it was better off replacing just by hearing the noise. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Not as far as I'm aware Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? the problem started towards the beginning of the new year

Suspension is air ride and is defected. It stops working and makes the truck bounce with any disturbance/bump on the road. Truck sways from side to side. Have had to replace the front axles/joints and the front end alignment. The mechanic stated that something was welded (that shouldn't have been) probably was caused because of the suspension. Every now and again the warning message "service suspension" comes on but not every time it happens. I haven't had the money to have it inspected because I put a lot down on the vehicle and to have the front end repaired. Our insurance wouldn't cover the claim.

Air suspension system fails intermittently. If it fails while driving, the vehicle has virtually no suspension and is unsafe to handle. It has failed at highway speeds, and rapidly deflated. When hitting bumps or anything in the road that is normally easily traversed, the vehicle will bounce and or skid, sometimes uncontrollably. The vehicle has been at the dealer multiple times for this issue, and it has not been solved. Dealer claims they can't find a problem due to their diagnostics not showing a fault, but the vehicle has failed right in front of the service manager! Currently they have had the vehicle for going on three (3) weeks, and the failure has not been fixed. When the system fails, there are multiple alerts present in the vehicle information center on the dash, but sometimes these do not appear until sometime AFTER the failure, and at highway speeds this does not help. My truck is absolutely available for inspection. A quick internet search reveals this is a very common issue, well known to Chrysler. Dealers do not know how to fix it, and refuse to replace parts unless they test as failed, which these generally do not. This is a dangerous situation, and it is known. Something should be done about it.

Vehicles air suspension freezes in colder weather causing the suspension to lock up. Just purchased this vehicle in August (warm weather) first time it happen was the first below 35° weather and almost bounced us off the road on the highway. Many complaints about this on line for 4th generation 1500's. We talked to dodge and they gaslighted the issue and told me is a recall comes up they will reimburse any issues caused by this. They CAN NOT reimburse a life if it bounces us off the road and causes a accident!! It's already caused another issue with either the cv boot or axel which were taking it tomorrow to be looked at. This is EXTREMELY unsafe and could definitely cause a accident!!!!

Airbag suspension fails when the compressor fails causing a fuse to blow and loose all air ride suspension. The ride leaves you feeling terribly unsafe hoping you can make it home in one piece. Its all over the web about this issue. Canada has a class action lawsuit filed. There are service bulletins but we need a recall with a permanent fix. It costs over 3000 with no guarantees to be fixed if you live in cold weather. internet information...........PLEASE READ............ If the outside temperature dips below freezing, there's a good chance Ram's air suspension will stop working. That's a big deal for people who live in places that have, oh what's it called ... WINTER. When the air suspension stops working, it doesn't fail gracefully. It delegates the task of absorbing bumps and keeping your vehicle safely upright to four deflated rubber bags. And as you might imagine the ride quality sucks. That can also affect steering control and make the entire experience miserable. Owners will stop using their very expensive trucks when it gets too cold outside because the alternative is to feel drunk or queezy after the ride.
