Check Engine light came on with a code P0463. This indicates that the fuel level sensor is bad. This is a VERY common issue on these trucks. It causes the vehicle to no longer go into "ECO" mode which is wasting fuel. This happens every time I fill the gas tank and does not go away until the tank reaches 3/4 tank. The part is garbage and is known to fail.

This complaint concerns failure of the remedy for Safety Recall Z46 / NHTSA Campaign 22V406 involving the high pressure fuel pump (HPFP) on a 3.0L diesel pickup. The HPFP had previously been replaced under the recall by an authorized dealer. About 19 months later, while the vehicle was at a dealership for service, the replacement HPFP failed again during dealer testing. The dealer documented metal contamination throughout the fuel system caused by the HPFP failure. The dealer then replaced the contaminated fuel system components. After those repairs and during post-repair test driving, the vehicle developed new bottom-end engine noise. The dealer later documented connecting rod bearing damage / rod knock and recommended complete engine replacement. The vehicle had been brought in with no bottom-end engine noise, and the dealer’s intake inspection documented oil condition as OK. An independent oil analysis later showed the engine oil was normal and did not indicate long-term lubrication failure. This suggests the engine damage occurred acutely after the HPFP failure and resulting contamination event, not from routine wear. This condition creates a serious safety risk because HPFP failure can cause loss of fuel pressure, engine stall, or loss of motive power, and the subsequent engine damage raises the risk of sudden engine failure or seizure while driving. That could increase the risk of a crash, especially in traffic or at highway speeds. The failure was confirmed by the dealer and is documented in the repair order. The vehicle remains inoperable and is available for inspection upon request. I am requesting investigation into whether the recall remedy was adequate, since the recall replacement HPFP failed again and the resulting contamination appears to have led to catastrophic secondary engine damage.

Fuel sensor failure. Began around 60,000 miles. Unless tank is full tank will display as empty. This also causes the check engine light to be on. Causes me to never know how much fuel is in the tank. I have nearly run out of fuel several times. This is a known issues across Dodge RAM forums for this era of RAM. It is not safe to operate at speed and run out of fuel unexpectedly.

While changing oil, noticed the front fuel tank strap was disconnected from the frame. Upon closer inspection, the outboard front fuel tank strap mounting location on the frame rusted through, allowing the T portion if the strap to fall lose. There is a similar recall for 08-12 Ram 1500's, but clearly this issue persists for more than just those model years

The crankshaft position sensor and tone wheel failed which is the recall for 66A, was driving truck 45mph down heavily traffic roadway, truck died and stopped in the middle of road. took truck to dealership and dealer charged diagnostic fee explained to them that issue sounded like a crankshaft issue and was showing crankshaft codes. They refused to look into this and do the recall. Went and picked the truck up took it to a local mechanic, mechanic diagnosed issue come to found out it was indeed the crankshaft sensor and tone wheel that was the issue, purchased mopar oem parts and installed in vehicle, once repaired vehicle started and ran perfectly.

1. Front fuel tank strap bracket has corroded and strap no longer attaches, my vehicle is available for inspection upon request. (appears this was a problem for 2009-2012 ram trucks) 2. If the tank falls, fuel will let loose with the opportunity for fire. 3. Yes, (independent service center). My mechanic wants me to ratchet strap the tank up to run the fuel low (because the tank will need to be dropped to repair/replace). He can't do the work. I need to contact a welding shop to weld new brackets to my truck frame. 4. No, there was no physical accident up to this point. The strap is hanging and unable to reattach because the frame bracket is rotted out. 5. No, just saw the strap hanging under the truck. (Additionally, my truck doesn't come up as having a current recall for airbags but i have the airbag light on the dash. I see NHTSA recall #'s 17V302000, 16EO41000, 15V534000 and 15V460000 all apply to airbags with my trucks year)

Background: Vehicle purchased in Madison, WI at Schoepp Motors (July 2019). Has been continuously titled, registered, and insured in Wisconsin for over 6 years. Vehicle is fully legal in the U.S. and has a valid Wisconsin title. Issue: The fuel tank strap rusted and failed. This is a well-documented problem for Ram trucks, and Stellantis created an Extended Warranty (Code X75) to address the issue. Stellantis’ database still lists this VIN as a “Canadian market” vehicle. Because of this coding error, U.S. dealerships cannot process coverage under the Fuel Tank Strap Extended Warranty (X75, 12 years / unlimited miles). The X75 program exists specifically due to a safety concern (fuel tank strap corrosion). Despite multiple attempts to resolve this with Stellantis, I have only been directed to “contact a broker,” which does not address the underlying database problem. Timeline: 2019: Vehicle purchased in Madison, WI. 2019–2025: Vehicle continuously titled, registered, and insured in Wisconsin. August 26, 2025: Dealer confirms VIN is coded as Canadian and cannot process warranty coverage. August 27, 2025: Case opened with Stellantis US Customer Care (#[XXX]). Multiple calls and emails → Stellantis repeatedly instructs me to contact a broker, without identifying required documentation. I offered to provide Wisconsin title, registration, and insurance history. Broker consulted → confirmed import documents are not retained after 5 years (per CBP retention rules). Stellantis refuses to escalate meaningfully; no path forward provided. Concern: The X75 program is a safety-related warranty that Stellantis is refusing to honor for a U.S. resident with long-term U.S. ownership. All reasonable avenues with Stellantis Customer Care have been exhausted. I am requesting regulatory review and intervention to compel Stellantis to correct the VIN market assignment and honor the X75 safety program. The contact stated that within 2,000 miles of receiving the recall repair, while driving at approximately 55 MPH the vehicle lost motive power while attempting to accelerate. The contact coasted to the side of the road however, the contact was unable to turn off the vehicle. After several attempts, the contact shifted to park, restarted the vehicle, and continued driving. The contact stated that there were several unknown warning lights flashing. While driving 40 MPH, the vehicle continued sputtering while attempting to accelerate. While stopped at a stop light and then accelerating, the vehicle only accelerated to 15 MPH and then stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after several attempts. The vehicle was driven to the dealer and the contact was informed that the high-pressure fuel pump could not be replaced since the VIN was no longer under recall related to the failure. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic who diagnosed the erratic reading of the fuel pump at the fuel rail and removed the fuel filter that was black and contaminated with metal and debris. The fuel filter was replaced; however, the vehicle was considered inoperable due to fuel pump failure. The contact was informed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 203,225.

My 2014 Ram 1500 with a 5.7 Hemi is constantly displaying the check engine light. Computer scans reveal it is the fuel level sensor. This appears to be a very common problem for this era of Ram trucks. So many comments in Ram forums and on YouTube. This should be a recall due to the stock ones constantly being worn out. Videos and comments online show that mileage does not play a part in failure, as this is happening on vehicles with as little as 60,000 miles and up. This should also be a recall as this should not be attempted by vehicle owners without repair knowledge. So many videos online about jacking up the bed and being supported by 2x4 boards or if removing the gas tank, the static electricity concern. Though this code has come up at least twice before, I am including the most recent issue. I simply refill my truck with the highest premium to help clear the problem. It has worked thus far, but many others complain about the problem also resulting in a failed fuel gauge that constantly shows empty.

Took the truck to Larry H Miller Ram in Surprise AZ for the high pressure fuel pump recall on 29 Nov. Picked up the truck on [XXX]. About 1.5-2 miles down the road the truck started spraying fuel everywhere, losing traction. Was on a main road so I had to go about a mile before I could pull off the road safely. Called the dealership to come get me and the truck. Service advisor let me know the low pressure line fitting had failed! When I picked the truck up again on 3 Dec, the advisor told me that they are being pushed by the manufacturer to re-use one time use fittings and that is what failed on my truck! UNACCEPTABLE.
