BACK OVER PREVENTION
The contact owns a 2017 Ram 3500. The contact stated that while in reverse(R), the rear-view camera image was blue. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the rear-view camera or the wiring harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted and informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V398000 (Back Over Prevention). The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
My ABS hydraulic control unit pump motor is not working properly. This has been affecting me since Oct 2024 when we were pulling our 5th wheel and losing braking and power. I learned later that It is part of a NHTSA Recall 24V-896000. Code C4B I was told by the Dodge dealer Jack Powell in [XXX] that I was on waitlist when I reported it to them 12/19/2024. During the next several months I always got the same answer so then filed a case on 7/7/2025 with the FCA. Case #XXX. During many calls after, and including the last call on 3/27/26 that the part was not available, that this was a National backorder with no ETA. I filed another case on 8/17/25 for a rental vehicle - case #XXX. After several calls I got that approved. The Dodge dealer diagnosed my truck with that active code in place. Also to be clear, the dealer has confirmed failure of the ABS system, which disables safety features Due to this defect, the truck can lose ABS braking, tractional control and electronic stability control. The dash warning lights come on all the time, with the sound too. Although I was approved for a rental vehicle, that is for $60 per day and only for a non-tow vehicle. The problem is that this vehicle is primarily used for towing. I have a 5th wheel hitch and use it for towing our 5th wheel trailer, that we purchase early 2024. We tow our boat as well. The bigger problem is that I am near retirement and we are not able to use our 5th wheel for the trips to prepare for that and the plan to travel once I retire later this year. I need to have a functionally comparable vehicle that is equipped for 5th wheel towing as a rental or reimbursement. I would also like a review for alternative remedies due to the unreasonable delay in completing the safety recall. When I contacted Stellantis on 3/27/26 I was told her was no buyback option and they would escalate to the rental dept for my concerns The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The loss of ABS/ESC/Traction control may cause this vehicle to crash . Warning lights are present, I have a horse trailer and can not use this truck to pull it due to this danger. I have waited over a year for the remedy to be offered but there is no remedy from the manufacturer for these failures of the ABS/ESC/Traction Control.. This happens EVERY TIME I attempt to drive this truck. It has LOW Mileage due to not being able to drive it.

BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS
[XXX] I got a check engine light and associated ABS and traction control light. Roads were dry and braking seemed fine. Lights eventually went out. Service department at dealership said sometimes moisture will cause this. No codes. Between May and October this problem has become repetitive and has been in the dealership service department multiple times. Codes show only when lights are on. Wheel speed sensor has been replaced (twice), but did not solve problem. Other features affected when these lights are on: 4WD will not engage, cruise control inop, rear collision sensor inoperative. My truck has been in the shop (dealership at Lithia in Anchorage, AK) since 10 Oct. Technician has said it needs ABS module and hydraulic pump, but FCA (or Stellantis who issued service contract) will not release parts (or they are out of parts and won’t admit). Apparently Ram engineers don’t believe service tech and are having him chase an electrical problem and now hub replacement. A quick internet search and it appears thousands of Ram owners (17-18) have dealt with this problem. The mileage is just shy of 110,000 and service contract expires at 125k or Jun 25. As a consumer I’m stuck between Ram engineers, and service department at dealership (currently without vehicle). A heavy duty pickup in Alaska is useless w/o 4WD on the rapidly approaching winter. This is obviously a known problem and needs resolution.

Component Failure: ABS ECU and HCU modules presented a trouble code C0020-01 after dashboard warning of ABS System problem. Safety Risk: Pulling my 12,000 trailer down the I-5 Grapevine without ABS, Traction Control or Cruise Control is very dangerous to myself and others. Failure Reproduced and confirmed by independent service center. Manufacturer (Stellantis) RAM insisted they change the HCU module before changing the ECU module (P/N 68347098AC). The HCU replacement did not clear the code, The manufactuer has a hold on shipping any ECU units to their dealer network. Truck has been out of service for three weeks! Dated 10/22/2024

Heading down a mountain grade on [XXX] came around a turn on the down grade and all the sudden warning lights starting going off. Tried braking harder but almost no brakes on the pickup. Managed to press the emergency brake, thankfully we were going at a slow enough speed. So many messages on the dash that I was having trouble getting to the trailer brakes to increase the gain so I could use them to help us get stopped. How was my safety and my Wife's at risk, brake failure on a mountain grade could have been bad. Taking it to a Ram Dealer on Tuesday, June 25,2024 in Hanover, PA. I was told by a mechanic that he scanned the system and pulled Code C0020. Was also told probably Hydraulic Control Unit or ABS Control Unit failure which is a common problem. At the time of the incident here are the warning lights and messages : Service Electronic Braking System, service abs, service trailer brakes. service rear park sensors, traction control disabled & trailer brakes disconnected ( had to unplug and replug to get back). Abs and traction control lights come on and off at intermittent times while driving, cruise control is lost when these lights come on, this has been an on going problem for about a year now but is a near constant every time I drive now starting about November 2023.

While under warranty in 2020 with approximately 15000 mile the ABS light and traction control light came on my truck. I was told that a new Hydraulic control unit and ABS module were being redesigned to replace the manufacturing defect, they lied at ram mopar! This is November 2023 and still no replacement parts, This issue affects the antilock brakes and traction control and cruise control and four wheel drive functions on my 2017 ram 3500 tradesman. I just contacted the local dealership parts department who told me that replacing these defective parts with new replacement parts will not work. The manufacturer must redesign the ABS module and Hydraulic control unit with with the new estimated date of July 2024 availability. In other words never!

While driving the vehicles message display center says "service emergency braking system", the traction control indication light turns on and off, the abs indicator light turns on and off, the park sense indicators turn on and off, and if cruise control is on it is deactivated and turns on and off. An audible chime indication is also sounded when the message center displays a message. With the traction control and abs turning on and off creates an extreme safety problem especially with the winter months ahead. The vehicle has not yet been looked at by a anyone but an appointment has been made with the local dealership. This first started while driving on 11/11/2023. However, the indicator lights and chime still occur while the vehicle is in park and motor running.

Service Electronic Braking System and Service Anit-Lock Braking System alarm lights. Code C0020-01 ABS Pump Motor Control- General Electric Failure. This issue is related to Anti-Lock braking that can cause injury to my safety and family safety. Problem is very well know and fully reproducible at dealers. Vehicle has been at dealer for long term waiting for dealer to find/repair issue .Dealer is at loss for repair. Dealer repair for this was change HCU and ABS Module. This repair has shown to not work in many scenarios and multiple repair and replace of the same units are not fixing the issues.

This is the third time our 2017 Ram 3500 is showing "Service Electronic Braking system" ABS and STC inoperable. The dealer said it is the same issue as the last 2 times and the parts, ABS controller and hydraulic modules will not be available until February 2024 at the earliest. Major safety issue that needs to be addressed now.

My Ram 3500 DRW has about 45000 miles and it now requires the replacement of the hydraulic control unit (HCU) and the anti-lock braking system (ABS) module. I discovered this issue prior to the warning light flashing and sounding when I had to do sudden braking in order to avoid an obstacle in the road encountered during a storm last week. I just barely got my Ram to stop and not swerve off into the ditch as the pumping of the brakes did not stop the truck. The truck just slid as if it did not have ABS capability. I was told by the Ram dealership in Spartanburg SC that these two repair parts are not available due to increased demand due to what the technician said was a "known issue" for the last couple of years. You cannot even order these parts today as the Ram parts system doesn't even allow you to add the parts to your shopping cart. To add insult to injury, the service manager told me that these two repair parts needed to repair my truck will not be available until August 2023! This is my work truck and I do not have another vehicle to use as I wait for these parts to be available. I can continue to drive the truck but will do so at my and my family's risk all the while with the ABS warning message flashing and warning chime sound constantly dinging. Not to mention not having emergency braking capability when it is needed the most.

BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS
The reason for this report is to let you know that my anti lock brake system has been malfunctioning for at least 10k miles. This is the same symptoms that you can read about on the internet. Flashing warning lights on the dash board and loss of cruise control. The warning alarm for the most part now is alerting continuously. When it first started the Chrysler dealer said that it was no longer in warranty. The truck is still like new and has 55k miles. I would like to see Chrysler do what is RIGHT and correct this widespread safety issue!! [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
The vehicle had a sudden acceleration problem and the driver ended up in a big crash. The driver is in the hospital with many injuries. The vehicle was taken to the dealer before, at the beginning of March, because the check engine light was on and the throttle control light on and the truck didn't shift properly and dealer said that he doesn't have a transmission mechanic for about a month. They worked on the recalls and the oil and fuel filters change. Afterwards I took the truck to another shop. They changed the oil at the transmission, but the truck showed the same messages on the cluster almost immediately. I took the truck to another mechanic and they changed the solenoids in the transmission, but in a short time the same messages (Check engine light and throttle control light) came on the cluster. When these light came on the truck didn't shift properly so I spoke with another mechanic about the problem and he programmed me for an appointment on August 4th. This date is too late now, because on July 25th I lost the truck in a terrible accident due to sudden acceleration of the truck and the driver could not stop it. The brakes failed and he tried to slow it down driving it against the concrete curve but he couldn't, the truck kept on speeding then he hit a big tree in order not to crash other cars on the road or the people in the driveway close to the place of the accident.
