FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

While driving in the middle of active traffic, the vehicle experienced a sudden and dangerous loss of motive power. The first indication of a problem was the A/C abruptly blowing hot air. Immediately following this, the vehicle began violently shaking before the engine stalled completely. The low oil pressure warning light was triggered on the dashboard. Losing all acceleration in the middle of active traffic created an immediate, severe crash hazard. The engine failure occurred after a franchised dealer service department failed. They had said at the dealership that my oil was fine. They didn’t even check it.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL

When the cruise control is set and I go down hill my car increases the speed by 8 mph faster than the set speed. My car also makes a loud grinding noise when it does this. I spoke with different Toyota auto employees and some say that the increase in speed and noise are normal and others say the opposite. I have been in many cars driving with cruise control on and never experienced this.

The air bags did not deploy. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact suffered bruising and neck pain, but no medical attention was received. The contact's mother, who was a passenger, suffered body aches and pain. The contact stated that her mother passed away from an unrelated illness a month after the crash. There was no police report filed. The vehicle was able to be driven away from the crash site. Furthermore, the contact stated that the vehicle was equipped with unknown tires, and that the front driver's side tire and spare tire had a blowout four times within a year. The front driver side tire was replaced by a tire retailer, Walmart, and an independent mechanic, but they were unable to determine the cause of the tire failure. The contact stated that after the crash, the front driver's side tire was flat, the rearview camera was inoperable, and the front passenger door handle had fractured and detached. The message "No Rear Visibility" was displayed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, and the front bumper detached while being towed. The dealer informed the contact that the recall was not related to the failures. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and had an engineer inspect the vehicle. The engineer determined that the rearview camera and forward collision avoidance feature had failed. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION

I was traveling on the interstate home from work one night, I was kinda tired, I put on my turning signal to let the person behind me know I was getting in the right lane know when all of a sudden a car sped by, the blind spot warnings didn’t come on at all, as a matter of fact I only saw them appear only twice since I had this car and they haven’t been on since and I’ve had this car for a week and two days, that’s an accident waiting to happen.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL

I HAD TO DRIVE AROUND 600 MILES TO AND FROM FAMILY FUNERAL. AS OTHERS HAVE REPORTED THE CRUISE CONTROL ON A DOWN HILL SLOPE GOES OUT OF CONTROL. AS I REACHED THE TOP OF A HILL AND STARTED DOWN THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD ACCELERATE TO 4000 RPM ( IT IS REALLY LOUD) THE SPEED WOULD START INCREASING AND GO 15-20 MPH OVER WHAT THE CRUISE CONTROL SPEED WAS SET AT. I HAD TO TURN OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL TO REGAIN CONTROL OVER THE SPEED. I WAS AFRAID THAT SOMETHING MIGHT HAPPEN IF I DID NOT. WHERE IT SEEMED MY CAR SHOULD DOWN SHIFT IT WAS NOT. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE PROGRAMMING OF THE CRUISE CONTROL. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN ON A DECLINE. ALSO, AT ONE POINT WHEN I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE AND A CAR PASSED ME ON THE RIGHT, MY CAR SLOWED DOWN REALLY QUICKLY. IF SOMEONE HAD BEEN BEHIND ME IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. THIS IS MY FOURTH TOYOTA AND I HAVE NEVER HAD THESE PROBLEMS BEFORE.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

I HAD A CAR ACCIDENT ON JANUARY 15, 2021. MY CAR WAS TOTALED AND NONE OF MY AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. MY EMERGENCY BRAKE SENSOR DIDN'T GO OFF AS WELL WHICH USUALLY ALWAYS GOES OF FOR ANY MINIMAL CLOSE OBJECT. BECAUSE OF MY AIR BAG NOT DEPLOYING I CUT MY LIP OUTSIDE AND INSIDE GOING TO THE HOSPITAL AND GETTING A STITCH IN THE INSIDE OF MY LIP. I HAD A HOLE THE WIDTH OF A DIME FROM HITTING THE STEERING WHEEL AND BLED NON STOP FROM MY NOSE AND LIP/MOUTH. THE HOSPITAL HAS IN MY CHART THE PICTURE OF THE HOLE.
