The contact owns a 2010 Toyota Venza. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and occupied, while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to respond as intended. An independent mechanic was contacted. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to be diagnosed; however, an independent mechanic arrived at the residence to diagnose the vehicle and retrieved a fault code related to the ECM. The mechanic also informed the contact to call a locksmith regarding the key fob. The contact stated that the failure had occurred on several occasions. The engine control module and the purge valve were replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH the vehicle suddenly hydroplaned causing the driver to loose control of the steering and the vehicle crashed into a concrete median. The contact stated that during the crash the frontend of the vehicle was damaged but no air bags deployed. No injuries were reported. Police were called to the scene but no report was taken. The vehicle was later driven home. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was not contacted. The contact indicated that prior to the crash the maintenance light had remained illuminated. The failure mileage was 72,800.

The contact submitted the complaint on behalf of her friend. The contact stated that while the contact's friend was driving, the friend heard a ticking noise and the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact's friend drove the vehicle to the intended destination. The contact's friend exited the vehicle and noticed a large amount of oil on the ground that had leaked from underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with failed oil cooler hoses. The contact's friend was informed that the oil cooler hoses needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. In addition, the contact was informed that the previous unknown warranty for the failure description had expired. The failure mileage was approximately 184,000.

The engine is consuming oil at an alarming rate. Didn’t reach my normal 5000 miles for an oil change and the oil stick was bone dry. Its put me and my family at risk because its the main reason the car is driving. No it has not been reproduced. No. Yes there was a warning lamp almost a year ago when it first happened where the engine burned most of the oil leaving nothing in the engine.

I had a 2011 Toyota Venza. Notice oil leakage. Took for oil and filter change and a check. Nothing was found, however four months later car began rattling and driving rough - I took to dealership and was told the Water Pump needed to be replaced. I have since found out that Toyota has had a many issues with the VVT-i Oil line failures AND Water Pump failures- Both that lead to a Failed Engine!! They fixed the water pump, however 45days later, my vehicles just stopped running as I was driving down the road. I checked oil - it was empty! Car would not start. I had car towed to dealer. I was then told 3days later that I needed a New Engine! That the Compressors were bad. In my research I found that when the compressor is starting to go out- the vehicle begins to run rough! This is what was told to the Dealership. I believe they failed to properly diagnosed my vehicle. And they wanted me to pay $9400 to Repair!!!! $5500 for a used Engine!! If Toyota knows they have the issue with the oil line... they should have checked for this... and checked the Engine when they KNOW THAT THE WATER PUMP FAILURE EFFECTS THE ENGINE!!!!!! I AM NOT THE MECHANIC!! The service guy at the dealership had his head down the entire time ... he knows they screwed up!! Of Course taking NO OWNERSHIP. I asked him why wouldn't they check for Engine compression when I told them it was driving rough - he says they just don't check for that!!! NOT MY FAULT.... This is NOT what I expect from a Toyota- has anyone else had this issues??? Vehicle had 168,000 miles. I had a Toyota Landcruiser with well over 220,000 miles and NEVER an engine issue!

I complained to a Toyota Dealer about this problem in 6-2017. The took it for a road test and the car did not do it and it did not record a code. So they could not find a solution. Intermittently and without warning the electronic link between the gas pedal and the engine is inoperative for 3-5 seconds. During this period the car is not under power, it is coasting and depressing the gas pedal has no effect on the engine speed. After this period the electronic link is automatically restored and the engine is again responsive to pressure on the gas pedal. I have been dealing with this scenario ever since I purchased this car in 8-2013. It seems to be happening more frequently. Needless to say, it is a very dangerous situation. I no longer feel safe driving this car. .

THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA VENZA. THE CONTACT STATED UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS A LOUD RATTLING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. OIL CONSUMPTION, I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR THE NEXT FEW MONTHS, REPLACED THE OIL HOUSING, THE TUBING, HAD THEM RUNNING OIL CONSUMPTION TESTS, AND THEM TELLING ME THAT MY CAR PASSED AND CHARGING ME FOR ALL TEST. MY CAR NOW, IS EATING ABOUT 15 Q OF OIL EVERY 5000 MILES AND TOYOTA STILL SAYS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR. THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNING I NOTICED A MILDEW TYPE ODOR COMING THROUGH THE VENT SYSTEM WHEN I CUT ON THE HEAT. I REPORTED DURING SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THE FILTER WOULD BE CHANGED AND SOME TYPE OF ODOR REDUCER PLACED IN THE VENTILATION SYSTEM. IT'S WINTER AGAIN AND THE ODOR IS SO BAD THAT I AM GETTING CAR SICK WHENEVER THE HEAT IS ON, WHETHER DRIVING OR STATIONARY. I SEARCHED THE WEB AND THERE ARE MANY INSTANCES OF THIS ISSUE WITH TOYOTA VEHICLES. IS THERE ANY RECALLS IN PLACE FOR THIS, I WILL BE GOING TO THE DEALER AGAIN AND WILL FOLLOW UP WITH THIS COMPLAINT. DURING THIS PERIOD THE CAR IS NOT UNDER POWER IT IS COASTING AND DEPRESSING THE GAS PEDAL HAS NO EFFECT ON ENGINE SPEED. AFTER THIS PERIOD THE ELECTRONIC LINK IS AUTOMATICALLY RESTORED AND THE ENGINE IS AGAIN RESPONSIVE TO PRESSURE ON THE GAS PEDAL.
