Driver Assist & Collision Avoidance complaints by model year
The master brake cylinder failed. not once but twice. It is available for inspection at the dealership currently. I lost the ability to be able to stop my car and use my brakes. Luckily I did not hit anyone elses car as I had to pull off the freeway. This is a major safety and liability concern. Yes, the problem has been confirmed by the dealer. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by a GM engineer yet for the 2nd time it happend. No, the only watning signs that came on was when the failure was occuring.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
On XXX we were in the acceleration lane on XXX, merging onto the highway. When we engaged the cruise control the car rapidly accelerated up to 97 mph. We were unable to get car to slow down, or disengage the cruise for approximately 1 minute. The care ran for 97 mph for the minute or so this happened. Husband was driving and he did all we knew to do to disengage the cruise and get the car slowed down. After approximately 1 minute the car started to slow down. We immediately took the car to Kelly Chevrolet in [XXX]. We were told that General Motors usually doesn't do anything to help the consumer unless there have been 4 reported cases. (This happened one other time about 2 weeks prior, but we thought it was a fluke and didn't report it.) We had this car for 1 1/2 years with 22,000 miles. The warranty would repair, but I refused to drive it again, under the circumstances. We have since traded the car ini on another car as we couldn't drive it. I have a warning on my dash, "Service Brake Assist" that comes on and off, but will not stay on. The dealer says they can't identify the problem unless it stays on and then bring it in. I did some research and find a class action complaint suit in 4 different states, of several GM cars manufactured between 2017 - 2020. Mine is a 2019 Buick Envision. The class action suit identifies the "Brake Vacuum Pump" defect. The defect will be known, when you step on the brake, the pump fails by exploding, and you have little or no brake whatsoever. More than likely causing a car crash and potentially loss of life. So what am I to do ? Wait for the pump failure and CRASH! Please look into this situation and potiential save lives.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
The lane assists and cruise control does not work and the GM dealership here in Southern Pines, NC can't fix it. They are sending the car back on the street with a 19-year-old girl behind the wheel of a car with electrical issues. Telematics module drained my battery mid drive. Car shut off on highway. Module malfunctioned and caused safety features to malfunction. After communication with Dealership, OnStar, ultimately GM refuses to issue a recall on the module. This is a NATIONWIDE issue with GM Telematics Module. Warranty will not cover the module on any of these vehicles. Someone is going to sustain serious bodily injury or maybe even die eventually if this issue isn’t resolved. Dealerships are telling drivers it is ok to drive like this. My car shut off on me twice. I had to buy two new batteries because the module continues to suck the life out of them. Serious safety issue not only to self but unsuspecting drivers because there is NO WARNING! Please help the millions of people nationwide who are having issues with their GM vehicles that have malfunctioning Telematics modules before someone gets hurt or dies!

Multiple Electrical parts became faulty starting with 3 tire sensors, then the front passenger airbag sensor, immediately followed by both rear sensor control modules. Milage at onset was approx 85000. Brought to dealer for dx due to my vehicle applying breaks when it shouldn’t, when auto start/stop was still on, the vehicle powersteering would stop working intermittently when going from a stopped position in drive to accelerating. Dealership ran diagnostics and determined the air bag control module is faulty and requires replacement of the entire seat to replace the sensor, as well as both rear sensors need to be replaced . This vehicle has been in no accidents. I had a second opinion completed with the same diagnosis. Now today- my OnStar system began blinking red and forcefully called OnStar twice. I spent over a half hour on the phone while they tried to reset the system and the car wasn’t responding as they would expect it to. There is something VERY wrong with the electronics of this vehicle, I dont feel safe in it . Please advise

November 2024 his vehicle was purchased used with only 5600 miles on it an unaware that this vehicle did not have the side blind alert or rear cross traffic alert. It was after downloading the original window sticker it was noticed that the vehicle did not have these safety features. The original window sticker shows a $ 350.00 credit for these safety features. My opinion these safety features should be required. This Buick was purchased through a Ford dealer as used and we were not informed of this. In doing some research it appears that GM had a chip issue and this is the reason for the credit. I don't understand how the forward safety features are installed but the rear safety features are deleted. I don't think that Buick and GM should have been allowed to sell a vehicle that didn't include these important safety features.

We have two problems what we would call safety issues. First, all the sound in the vehicle was lost which included safety belt warning alarm, turn signal bells, door open alarms, etc. We were told by the dealership that it was a faulty amplifier. Secondly, the sunroof opened by itself, and is locked in the open position which makes the vehicle undrivable due to weather conditions and makes it an easy target for theft. The vehicle was locked and parked in our driveway when we noticed the sunroof was open. We know this occurred on it's own as we had just washed the vehicle and locked the doors. The next day we found the sunroof open and the doors still locked. This is a computer software issue within the vehicle as these issues occurred within a matter of days of each other. The sunroof opening on its own is a safety issue as a unsecure car is a problem, opening during traveling in a storm is a real threat to driving conditions. During our investigations we have found other cases the same as ours.We have reached out to GMC and we were told no recalls have been issued and to file a complaint with NHTSA and our state Attorney General. Our vehicle has been sitting at the dealership since August 5th, waiting on back ordered parts with no anticipated delivery date for those parts. This is not a dealership issue but rather a manufacturer design defect. Buick has not taken any interest or responsibility for this issue as the vehicle was out of warranty recently. This 2020 vehicle only has 55,000 miles. I have a 60-mile roundtrip commute to my job at a local hospital and have been without a vehicle since July 28th. This issue is not due to any neglect on our part and the cost so far is over $3,000. Buick should be responsible for their design and poor engineering as this has the potential to cause an issue if this happens while the vehicle is moving. The safety bells are an added reminder to buckle up and if they are not working it is a safety issue for those in the vehicle.

RE: N222375790-06. Due to the industry-wide semiconductor shortage, the park assist feature is not functional on this car. I was informed of this at the time of sale and told that when parts were available I would be contacted for a "no additional cost retrofit". I have not been contacted and Buick now tells me I have to use NHTSA.gov to report this issue so that my vehicle is marked "Open" on the Investigate Vehicle History screen of the GM Global Warranty Management system.

The contact owns a 2019 Buick Envision. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle abruptly stopped without driver input. The brake assist warning light was illuminated. The message “Brake Assist Failure - Drive with Caution” was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the local dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

I put the car into park and I exited the vehicle because I forgot to push the stop button. So I reached accross the driver's seat and push the stop button. When I did this the car began to roll back as if it was in neutral. I did not touch the shift knob. It shifted into neutral on its on. The front down was open at the time. The car should not have moved if the front door was open. The car ended up rolling down a small hill and ran over me.
