I was driving the truck on my way to work in [XXX] , last March 12, 2026, at around 6:50 am. It was raining when I entered the exit ramp to work going west; the truck died, and the steering wheel locked. I tried to start it, but it wouldn't. The dashboard displayed: 'Trailer Park Brake Failed,' 'Power Steering Pump Needs Service,' and 'Axle Repair Error.' I was on the exit ramp for a highway that runs north and south, and I could have been t-boned; it was still dark. The truck was towed to Curry Chevrolet in Scarsdale. They said it was the ECM and ordered the part. They installed the new ECM module last Tuesday, March 17. The service manager called me and said they tested the truck, but it is still showing active codes. A GM advisor called me saying the truck should be ready for pickup this Friday. However, this afternoon, I got a call from the service manager saying there is another issue—the engine wiring harness—and they will order the part; now it will not be ready until next week. GM owes me my life. I do not want to drive the vehicle. The service department people at Curry Chevrolet are very professional, but did I pay and spend a lot of money for a garbage truck? My 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Bison ZR2 (VIN [XXX] ) suddenly lost all power steering, acceleration, and propulsion while driving my children to school at approximately 8:00 AM on March 16, 2026. The truck came to a complete stop with no warning lights or prior indication. This matches the exact ‘critical issue with the engine and transmission system’ alert I received from OnStar Advanced Diagnostics the same morning. Steering was completely unresponsive and I had no acceleration. My children were passengers — this was extremely dangerous. I have not driven the vehicle since and have requested towing to the dealer. Please investigate under any open probes into 2024 Silverado HD power-loss and steering failures. This has happened three times with the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD LTZ truck. Each time, the failure was following a remote start in my driveway. It has occurred at the approximately 40K, 80K, and now at 128K mile mark. First two repairs were covered under the warranty and extended warranty, with the third time there was no warranty and the cost for repair was ~$2800. Each time, the vehicle was remote started in the January timeframe with cold (0 to 30°F) temperatures to allow the vehicle warm up prior to driving. I know two of those events occurred when we had a more significant temperature drop as there was snow on the ground. Upon getting into the driver seat and putting into Reverse to back out of the driveway, I discovered the brakes and power steering had failed. The dealer on this third time indicated a check valve somewhere was "sticky" resulting in the failure of a hose with a booster tied to either the brakes or power steering (not sure which) failing taking the other part out. In this third case, either power steering or brake fluid vapors had been sucked back into the heater as things had sprayed around the engine compartment. The cab of the vehicle presenting a haze/fog in the vehicle causing me to realize there was something wrong upon opening the truck door. All three times, the vehicle was towed to the dealer for service repair. I do not know if this could have presented a fire hazard or had I been driving down the highway or interstate how fast I would have lost braking or steering ability.

Steering great box replaced steering still not stable, electrical glitches such as stability trac service message, hill assist, breaking assist messages pop up and then disappear constantly, power steering pump, hydro boost and master cylinder replaced multiple times, no sound emitting for seat belt, door chime , turn signals with no accessory mode power when key is turned. Vehicle has been in and out of shop for repairs and noone can figure out the sound or electrical issues and keep replacing the steering and power steering components. When using driver side window switch all dashboard lights increase in brightness then dim back down

When vehicle is placed in park the safety lock will not allow the key to turn to the "off" position and be removed. The vehicle will not turn "off" any further than the accessory position. Sometimes after turning the steering wheel back and forth while working the ignition the key will release. If this does not work after a minute or so, sometimes you can start the truck and immediately turn it all the way off and get the key to release. If all of that fails the last option is to disconnect the battery. It is an intermittent issue that will happen 5 times a day for a week, and then will not replicate again for a week or two.

I’m have 1-2” dead space in steering. It is hard to stay in lane on highway as when a road dip takes extra movement keep straight. I was told this is normal but had dealer change steering box. Replacement helped a lot but truck is starting to get the 1-2” of play once again. Seems like similar issue to 2016 model year.

The car pulls to the left while driving. The steering wheel turned to the left when I stopped. I have taken it to the dealer three times but the problem is not resolved.

steering wheel has excessive play. i have had it looked at by two different dealerships and they are trying to convince me that this is normal. there is about 1 inch of dead band in the straight-ahead position. the dead band movement of the steering wheel shaft does not move the pitman arm at all. the last time i took it to the dealership i asked if they could check the over center preload on the steering gear. they said they checked it and it could not be tightened any further without causing secondary problems. I do not believe they performed the actual adjustment as it would have required the steering gear to be removed and adjusted on the bench. the free play results in delayed corrections in correcting for lane drift. i have driven similar trucks and there is very little if any free play. this issue has been present since new.

Chevy Duramax trucks, 2011-2016 use a CP4 fuel pump that will eventually fail. The engine shuts off and there is a loss of steering and brakes. This is a major safety issue. I called Chevy GM 1800 222 1020 and was told, " we are aware of the problem, have no remedy, no recall has been issued yet, call back in a month". My daughter has a 2015 that failed when she was hauling expensive horses, the dealer put the same type defective pump back in the truck. Every diesel repair shop, dealer, and GM is aware of this defect. There is a class action law suit C/O JND Seattle WA. 1 866 848 0815 that may reimburse owners that have had a failure, assuming they are still alive. GM needs to recall, and replace these CP4 pumps with a CP3 or whatever they did to correct the issue in 2017 and later engines, prior to failure. Let ne know if I can provide any more information or assistance.

Charging system failed The system failed with no warning, we were traveling on a country curvy road and about to descend a grade. With the charging system failure, the truck lost power to brakes and steering. It's at the dealer, being inspected etc. No warning lights or message until the failure occured, then a battery light appeared and a charging system failed message.
