While driving at a speed of around 40 mph on a paved city street in Bozeman, MT, I heard and felt a Super loud clunk in my Chevy engine transmission or drive train.. I immediately stopped to see if something ran into the vehicle. No apparent visual damage of any kind. It felt and sounded like like something jammed within the transmission or drive train. The truck has less than 12k miles and has been babied so far. I love the truck. Oil level is normal and nothing leaking underneath..I took it immediately to Billion GMC in Bozeman. They found nothing wrong however the service manager recounted this regarding another customer who described the exact same issue with the same year vehicle and same transmission: Another GMC owner experienced the same symptom before the transmission seized at highway speed and locked the wheels. Because this presents a potential loss-of-control hazard, I am requesting that Chevrolet open a Technical Assistance Center case, document all diagnostic findings in writing, and determine whether the vehicle is safe to operate before returning it to me. I am filing this complaint regarding my 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD, which has approximately 20,000 miles and has been babied since new. The truck is maintained meticulously and the undercarriage is washed weekly. The brake failures I have experienced are completely unacceptable for a truck with this mileage and maintenance history. Both the FRONT and REAR brake friction material has completely DELAMINATED from the brake components. This is not normal brake wear. The material has separated from the underlying metal, which I believe is a serious material/manufacturing-quality issue. The dealer is now reporting that the rear emergency/parking brake shoes are also defective and require replacement. These components are inside the rear rotor and are not visible during a normal inspection. I strongly dispute any suggestion that this is simply corrosion or abuse. This truck is babied, maintained properly, and the undercarriage is washed every week specifically to prevent buildup and corrosion. At only 20,000 miles, having the front brakes, rear brakes, AND parking-brake shoes fail is completely unacceptable. The brake failures are also part of a disturbing pattern of component failures on this truck. The A/C compressor failed, leaving me without reliable air conditioning and resulting in a SIX-WEEK wait for replacement during the middle of summer. Additionally, only FIVE DAYS after I purchased the truck brand new, it required replacement of the Engine Control Module. This is a 2023 truck with only 20,000 miles. I expect normal wear items to wear normally—not to physically delaminate and fail. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether there is a systemic safety or manufacturing defect involving the brake materials/components used on these trucks. A brake component physically separating from its backing material is a serious safety concern and should not be dismissed as routine maintenance. My 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD does not bear the certification label required by 49 CFR Part 567. I bought it used from a franchised Chevrolet dealer in April 2024 and am the current owner. The date reported is the date I examined the vehicle and confirmed the label was absent. This is not an incident, and I do not know when or how the label came to be missing. I checked the driver-side hinge pillar, door-latch post, door edge, and surrounding areas. The only labels present are: a GM trailering label (10,000 lb GVWR, 26,000 lb GCWR, 6,390 lb rear GAWR, no front GAWR, no FMVSS conformance statement); a Tire and Loading Information placard (states seating capacity, a 2,111 lb occupant-and-cargo limit, and tire sizes, but no GVWR and no GAWR); and a cellular module sticker with no weight information. Nothing on the vehicle states the manufacturer, the month and year of manufacture, the GVWR with front and rear GAWR, and the FMVSS conformance statement. A 2023 GMC Sierra 3500HD I photographed for comparison bears all of it. On the panel below the trailering label there is a rectangular area, distinguishable from the surrounding paint, with adhesive residue visible and palpable. I report this without characterizing it. The practical effect is that I cannot determine my front or rear gross axle weight rating from the vehicle. This truck was also built with a factory-reduced 10,000 lb GVWR rather than the approximately 11,350 lb published for the same configuration, and the certification label is the one document that would display the certified ceiling alongside the actual axle capacities. Photographs of every label present, of the comparison label, and of the residue area are attached. General Motors has not provided the VIN-specific build record or any record of whether a certification label was applied at assembly.

Driving down the highway at 60mph, dash started blinking for trailer brake service needed. Was not trailering anything. Within 3 seconds I had smoke filling the cab, pulled over and got out. Within 3min truck was fully engulfed totally gone. God forbid I was alone but even at that I did not have time to get many things out and keep imagining what a different day I’d be looking at if there were kids with me.

In May 2026, my vehicle began exhibiting serious and dangerous problems. It would shake violently after starting and occasionally stop on its own while driving. On [XXX], my wife and I got into the vehicle and started driving from our home in West Virginia. While driving uphill at approximately 30 mph, the vehicle suddenly began shaking severely and then came to a complete stop. After a few moments, it restarted itself and accelerated to about 30–40 mph while continuing to shake violently. This happened several times during the trip. Fuel consumption also became extremely abnormal, dropping to approximately 6 miles per gallon. Because Team One Chevrolet in Oakland, Maryland, is the nearest dealer, we drove there for service. After several hours, the dealer returned the vehicle and informed us that they had replaced a sensor. However, after leaving the dealership, the Check Engine light came on again after only three engine starts. I immediately returned to the dealership, where the warning light was cleared. The following day, the Check Engine light returned. When I contacted the dealership, I was told to continue driving the vehicle with the warning light on for one to two weeks. After more than a week, I returned to the dealership, and the light was reset again. A few days later, the same problem reappeared. At that point, I was informed that, according to dealership procedures, replacement parts could not be ordered until the issue had been reported three times. After the third visit, the parts were finally ordered, and I was required to wait several more weeks for another service appointment. I also reported the issue directly to Chevrolet. Despite multiple visits, repeated failures, and a significant amount of time spent attempting repairs, my vehicle remains unrepaired. My factory warranty is approaching expiration, and no one has provided a clear answer regarding what will happen if the upcoming repair attempt fails to resolve the problem. Rear tailgate opening and closing repeatedly on its own. Background: Arrived home from work yesterday evening, Jun 4, 2026. Parked my truck in the driveway. It was a hot sunny day. Turned the vehicle off, exited the vehicle, and locked the doors. Upon walking around behind my vehicle, the tailgate was opening and closing repeatedly. I attempted to manually close it to see if it would stop, I pushed the lock button on my key fob, and I pressed the tailgate button on the dash which would normally cause it to either open or close depending on its current position. None of those steps resolved the issue. I quickly googled the problem, identified the correct fuse in the dash, and pulled the endgate fuse to stop the tailgate from opening and closing on its own. With the fuse pulled, the tailgate does not function. I called my dealer who informed me it is a known issue with some Silverado trucks and that some had been recalled however he noted my 2022 was not included in the recall for this issue. I have an appointment on Jun. 19, 2026 to have it repaired.

Electric-Release Tailgate opens unexpectedly on its own, when vehicle is put in park. This had happen when a trailer was hitched and now has caused a dent in the tailgate. There is a recall # N232426400/N232426401; but apparently my VIN is not showing in the recall.

There is an incredible reliance on navigation and communication while driving. This and many other vehicles have intermittent disconnects to CarPlay This causes inattentive decisions while attempting to reconnect. I have personally had two trips to dealership with no resolution numerous photos showing loss of communication with vehicles main information center.

Transmission Control Valve Body (Recall #N242454440) Your truck is part of the massive recall issued late last year (expanded in February 2026) regarding the 10-speed Allison transmission. The Problem: Internal wear in the valve body causes a drop in pressure, which can cause the rear wheels to lock up suddenly while you're driving. Multiple occurrences. It has been taken to the shop for this issue.

THREE WEEKS I NOTICED THE HEADLINER ABOVE THE REAR WINDOW WAS WET. THE REAR WINDOW HAS SOME CRACKS ON THE TOP PLASTIC MOLDING THAT HOLDS THE WINDOW TO THE CAB OF THE TRUCK. THIS MOLDING IS IN BETWEEN THE HEADLINER AND THE REAR GLASS.

My husband and I were driving his Chevy Silverado with our two dogs in the back. Without any warning or any alert, our vehicle came to a complete stop in the middle lane on a three lane highway. Not a slow stop where there was any time. I’m confirming immediate. At that time, the vehicle would not move at all for almost 5 minutes. As we sat there praying to God that we wouldn’t die as tractor trailers and other vehicles came flying past missing us by inches. It’s truly a miracle that no one was killed. He put truck in neutral and pressed start button and was not able to go any faster then 5 mph and once again a miracle we were able to make it to shoulder of highway without being hit. The vehicle was shaking excessively and flashing things like emissions, traction, as our videos and pictures will show when we made it to side of highway. This is a disgrace that any vehicle would ever be manufactured with this outcome. I am deeply grateful that my husband and I and our two dogs are alive and not injured but this should NEVER happen again.

The engine block heater in my truck keeps tripping the circuit breaker. Dealership says it that 'it appears that the block heater cord is shorted recommend replacing cord' estimate $500. I understand that Chevy has recalled some trucks from this year for this very problem however it and they don't include my truck. This is a fire safety hazard!!! I was leaving my farm property after loading my truck and tailgate and drove home 20 miles. At some point in the drive my tailgate dropped and fell onto the trailer tongue. This caused damage to my tailgate. I have called the dealer and they informed me there was a recall on the tailgate latch but they completed the work on the recall defect. I am questioning this and want to understand what to do now. I don't trust the tailgate and the truck has no warning system for when the tailgate drops like a door open signal.
