Dear [NHTSA / Indiana Attorney General], I am filing a complaint regarding a serious safety issue with my vehicle, a 2017 Dodge Challenger, purchased on [XXX] from Wetzel Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, Richmond, Indiana). Six months after purchase, the steering column failed, leaving the vehicle unsafe to drive. The dealership confirmed the repair cost at $4,500 but refused assistance, and Stellantis has also declined support despite the fact that this is a critical safety component necessary to control the vehicle. This defect poses a significant risk of sudden steering loss while driving, endangering both myself and others on the road. I respectfully request that your office review this matter for potential manufacturer accountability, safety recall investigation, or consumer protection enforcement. Thank you for your attention to this urgent safety concern. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I purchased this vehicle from Vroom, who is also my lender under United Auto Credit. The car was sold with a washed title and undisclosed prior structural and mechanical damage. I have documentation confirming the vehicle had serious pre-existing issues and should never have been sold as a clean-title car. The differential has failed three times in under 6 months, and I’ve experienced full drivetrain failure following multiple service visits to Dodge. I had requested inspection of the transmission, but after every visit, the issues worsened. The vehicle is currently available for inspection. The car exhibits violent vibrations, power loss, and unpredictable handling, making it unsafe to drive at highway speeds. The differential is on the verge of catastrophic failure again. These issues risk loss of vehicle control, wheel lock up, and potential collisions. Has the issue been confirmed by a dealer or service center? Yes. Dodge dealerships have confirmed repeated differential failure and ongoing drivetrain problems. Independent shops have also verified signs of prior impact and poor repairs. Has the vehicle been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance? It has been brought to authorized Dodge service centers at least six times and is the subject of an open Dodge customer care case (7+ months). No police or insurance inspections at this time. This vehicle was fraudulently sold with hidden damage and has presented major, repeated safety hazards. I am asking the NHTSA to investigate not only this vehicle, but the broader pattern of dangerous sales by Vroom/United Auto Credit and Dodge, including title washing and stalling tactics to run out factory warranties before resolution.

My 2016 Dodge Challenger has less then 38,000 miles. I don’t even drive it in the rain to keep it spotless. I have taken great care of it. It started making a knocking noise from underneath the car. Took it to the dodge dealership & found out the drive shaft is bad.If you google 2016 Dodge challenger sxt drive shaft issue you will see that this is a nation wide problem starting from 2015 to 2018. I think Dodge should be responsible for fixing this issue. Its not right,

Electrical system is currently failing. I was informed that I need a PDC wiring kit to replace the fuse box and the entire vehicle must be rewired. USB Charging ports DO NOT WORK. Cigarette lighter ports to charge cellular devices do not work. Every time the service department at the dealership fixed a component to repair the radio a fuse was blown in another area of the vehicle in 2024. Currently 2025, I was told that the Radio lost connection with amplifier. The screen of the radio is on. It is changing from station to station and there is no sound. The bluetooth connects to my phone but there is no sound. The display is working for Sirius XM Radio. The amplifier was replaced 2x's although there was nothing wrong with it. The radio was replaced although there was nothing wrong with it. Vehicle consistently lacks power, car drags when you switch lanes and accelerate, headlights were not working and replaced 3 times. I almost flew over a cliff because it was pitch black. I could not see the road in front of me. Door panel control was replaced because windows were stuck rolled down/rolled up. Keypad would not work to unlock the door. I had to climb into the car from the passenger side of the vehicle because the driver's side door was locking me out of the car. Batteries in keypads were replaced. Driver's side door was locking me inside of the car. I was forced to climb over the center console to get out of the car through the passenger side. I had issues with the shocks & struts. The Michelin tires that came with the vehicles are cheap [XXX]. I replaced the tires with all-weather tires and consistently rotated them during oil changes. UCONNECT RADIO ISSUES occurred numerous times in my Black 2017 Dodge Challenger GT MODEL with leather interior and sunroof as well VIN ending [XXX]. I filed numerous complaints with Dodge customer service as well as UCONNECT. Cases # [XXX] opened with Stellantis and the FCA case [XXX]. Both are uncooperative! NHTSA complaint #11660559 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
I owned a 2017 Dodge Challenger which had electrical issues and a defective Uconnect radio system. A few months after purchasing the 2019 Dodge Challenger, I experienced electrical issues. The electric key system failed locking me outside of the vehicle while pumping gas. I had to enter the vehicle from the passenger side door. When I tried to exit the vehicle, I could not open the door. I had to climb over the center console to exit the vehicle from the passenger side. The key fab battery was replaced but the issue continued. The rear/front suspension failed in 2020. The westbury service department blew my alternator servicing while replacing the radiator and fixing the electrical issue with Uconnect. The driver's side window would not roll down. It was stuck down in 2021. The door panel switches were replaced. The door issue was not resolved. I randomly remained locked out of the vehicle. I complained that the heat would turn on randomly inside of the vehicle. My headlights stopped working twice and my light bulbs were replaced although the bulbs were good. I couldn't see the road in front of me at night and almost drove off of a cliff. The radio/gps/bluetooth system continuously failed ten times. The service department replaced the radio. and amplifiers twice, although they were in working condition. This did not resolve the issue. The Jamaica service department explained that the issues that have been occurring are electrical and tried replacing the fuses to fix the reoccurring issues. When I bought the car to them to fix the radio issue in 2024 my charging and USB ports stopped working. The fuse issue has since caused other safety hazards. They replaced the fuses several times and have explained that the entire electrical component "body harness wiring" must be replaced. I should not be responsible for replacing this part. When I bought the vehicle in for electrical issues while it was under warranty it should have been fixed immediately.

I had a flat tire while driving to work and was unable to pull over for about a few thousand feet. As the tire went flat I swirled into the grass on a street without a shoulder. The tire snapped off and was not locatable. I filed a police report and called the police at time of incident. The total damage on the vehicle was under $3,000 but because the tire snapped off and damaged the firewall Dodge stated that the vehicle had to be a total loss. This was a 2019 challenger there should be no reason for a wheel to snap off like such. After visiting several Dodge chat rooms I have learned that this is very common with the challenger and needs to be addressed with a class action suit and safety recall! This happens very often to Dodge challenger consumers

Seat belt buckles have stop locking on drivers side and back seat belt after putting a carseat in the back. Front end driver side sounds like a crinkled noise and steering wheel feels like car wants to go a different direction then you actually turn.

2012 Challenger SRT8 TIPM is this issue and there is no recall for this, while it should due to being a major part of the electrical system that controls all aspects of the safety system. Also now I am being told Dodge does NOT make this part any longer....how is that possible. This IS a recall for other Dodge models, why not mine

ANY TIME THERE IS A FRONT END COLLISION, THE STEERING COLUMN INTERMEDIATE SHAFT MUST BE REPLACED WHEN REPAIRING. THAT WAS NOT THE CASE HERE BECAUSE EVERY TIME I DRIVE NOW, MY PEDALS ARE BINDING ON ME CONSTANTLY. ALMOST FEELS LIKE SOMETHING IS GETTING CAUGHT OR IS IN THE WAY AND I WAS DRIVING OFF A HIGHWAY RAMP AND I COULD FEEL IT IN THE PEDALS THAT IT WAS BINDING ON ME AND AS SOON AS I DRIVE OVER THE SMALLEST BIT OF WATER THAT WAS ON THE GROUND, I LITERALLY SPUN OUT OF CONTROL AND ALMOST DID A 360 AND CRASHED. THANKFULLY, NO ONE WAS AROUND ME, BUT THIS IS VERY UNSAFE. SAME THING HAPPENED IN MY 05 CHRYSLER AND WHEN I INSPECTED IT, YOU CAN SEE HOW EXTREMELY LOOSE MY INTERMEDIATE SHAFT IS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS.

I PURCHASED A 2015 CHALLENGER, UPON DRIVING THE VEHICLE HOME NOTICED THE AXLES MAKING A NOISE. A WEEK LATER THE NOISE BECOMES WORSE I ALERT THE DEALERSHIP AND BRING THE CAR IN. THEY TELL ME THAT IT'S COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY PROMISE THAT WHEN I FINALIZE FINANCING THE WILL FIX IT. UPON FINALIZING FINANCING THE CAR FAILS INSPECTION AND THE WARRANTY IS REMOVED DUE TO THE PREEXISTING ISSUES WITH THE CAR. THUS RESULTING REPAIR COST COMING OUT MY POCKET FOR A CAR I HADN'T HAD A WEEK. NEXT I RUN INTO A ISSUE THE WITH ENGINE. I TAKE IT TO GET A DIAGNOSTIC AND THE TECHNICIAN SHOWS ME THE HISTORY OF THE CAR STATING THAT IT HAD A REPLACEMENT ENGINE INSTALLED IN THE PAST. THE DEALER NEVER MENTIONED THE REPAIRS TO ME BEFORE FINALIZING THE DEAL ONCE SO EVER. NOW I BROUGHT IT TO THEIR ATTENTION AND THEY'RE TELLING ME THAT I CAN TRADE IT IN BUT THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO. THE DEALERSHIP IS RICK HENDRICKS CHEVROLET IN DULUTH GEORGIA, 3277 SATELLITE BLVD. THE DEALERSHIP GOES UP AND BEYOND TO AVOID ME, EVEN WHILE THE CAR WAS IN THEIR POSSESSION FOR REPAIRS FOR WEEKS. THEY NEVER FIXED ANYTHING IN THE CAR. I HAVE VIDEO PROOF OF THEM MESSING UP THE CAR AND JUST LEAVING IT FOR ME TO DEAL WITH. I ALSO HAVE VOICE RECORDED CONVERSATIONS WITH SALES ASSOCIATE MANAGERS AT THE DEALERSHIP WHO LIED TO ME AND MY FATHER IN OUR FACES ABOUT CERTAIN INFORMATION REGARDING THE DEAL.

CAXMAX SOLD ME A CAR THAT MY MECHANIC DESCRIBED AS FLOOD DAMAGED UP TO THE BODY LINE JUST BELOW THE WINDOW. RUST FROM THE ENGINE TO THE EXHAUST TIPS. ROCKS AND SAND IN ALL BODY CAVITIES ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. I CONVEYED THIS INFORMATION TO MY SALESMAN WHO FACILITATED A REFUND. I INCLUDED PHOTOS. A WEEK LATER IT WAS BACK ON THE CARMAX SOUTH SACRAMENTO WEBSITE (WHERE I BOUGHT IT) WITH UPDATED MILEAGE INFORMATION AND NO MENTION OF THE FLOOD DAMAGE. AS IT IS IN 'UNAVAILABLE' STATUS IT IS LIKELY BEING RESOLD TO ANOTHER UNSUSPECTING CONSUMER.
