The contact’s foot was hovering over the brake pedal; however, after placing a foot on the brake pedal, the vehicle abruptly stopped. The contact was able to continue driving the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that no fault codes were retrieved from a diagnostic test. Brakes became sluggish and parking brake would not disengage. Towed car to Autonation Ford. They diagnosed and found "internal failure of electric brake booster requiring replacement. It took them 30 days to locate a part and complete repairs. Car had 41,634 miles and the cost was $3,087 not including my $2,406 rental charges before they offered a loaner. When I contacted Ford, they said it was out of warranty...I knew that.

Ford escape brakes have been a continuous issue after purchasing car 3 years ago. Brakes would make loud screeching noise when reversing car slowly. The problem seemed to get worse after it rained or the car gets wet. I’ve taken the car into the Ford dealer 3x for the same issue and they cannot seem to recreate the noise. Dealer has said the brake pads look fine. Recently, when applying brakes the car isn’t slowing down but still moving forward. After about 10seconds of “skipping” forward the car will stop.

when I am braking while slowing down on an offramp, the brakes will disengage, then hurry and reengaged. its only for a split second, but very scarry, this has happened 3 times. Then a few nights ago I was slowing down and had my foot on the brake very lightly, and the brakes caught and about threw me throw the windshield. Vehicle has 32,600 miles. On start, received the following warnings. "Check Brake System", "Hill Start Assist Not Available", Pre-Collision Assist Not Available", and the ABS light was lit. The brakes were extremely hard to use. Had vehicle towed to Dealership. Dealership tested and received Code U3000. They "reprogrammed" the ABS, PCM and IPC Modules and performed a "battery disconnect". The fix was not covered by warranty. The dealership said that this could happen again. They were vague about whether it could occur only on start or at any time. Reoccurrence at road speed would likely result in an accident as the vehicle was extremely hard to stop.

Pulling up to a stop sign going slowly as I was in a shopping center parking lot. When I applied the breaks they felt mushy and I had to pump the pedal. A red light flashed but quickly went out as I stopped. I believe it was the break warning light, but I was concentrating on stopping so can't be sure. Driving home all was well but the next day the break light came on and stayed on. I had the vehicle towed to the dealer, but noticed as I backed out of the driveway for the tow the break light was off. The dealer could not reproduce the issue and said there were no fault codes present.

The right rear brake area screeches loudly when I back up, even if I am not applying the brake. It happens at different times of the day, not just when I start the car. I have taken it in to be repaired twice and they tell me this is normal because the brakes charge the battery and this is the design. They said it happens when the brakes are wet in the morning. I park my car in the garage and every morning it screeches and does not appear to be a moisture issue. My car is new and began happening shortly after I brought it home. I think I am going to call and insist they replace them, as they are not able to repair them. I am concerned there is something wrong. Also, I don't use the adaptive cruise control, as it has accelerated and frightened me, as it tends to act on its own and may go over the speed limit. When I brake it will turn off, I just don't trust it. I think the controls aren't like other speed controls I have used and I maybe not be used to using them. I'm not sure. I had to put a tint on the front windows and a strip on the top of the windshield because it was clear and the sun came in so bright and would reflect off the dash, I was unable to see. The windshield is close to the steering wheel. When I bought the car the hood and door on the driver's side were not properly aligned. Again, they said this is normal. I had to have them repaired. I have never had so many problems with a new car. I am going to try to get the brakes fixed somehow and get something else.

Received a notice that a recall was necessary to correct fuel vapor issues which might result in a fire. Simultaneously notified the dealer that the brake booster was defective. They agreed and both assured me the part had been delivered and subsequently informed me that the part for the brakes was defective. I was told that the fuel vapor issue had been addressed and resolved however according to your records it has not. I have been waiting for a call that the parts were available for the warranty repairs since December 19.

On November 12, 2022 at approximately 1:00 p.m. an incident occurred with my 2022 Ford Escape Hybrid in Columbia, MO. As I was parking in the Forum Theater parking lot, the engine surged and I had no brakes. I was at a dead stop and when I released the brake to move into a parking slot, the engine surged abruptly. When I applied the brakes, the pedal went clear to the floor with no braking occurring. I absolutely did not hit the wrong peddle causing this surging of power. As a result, the Escape jumped a curb and ran into a tree doing $14,000 damage. The airbags did not deploy nor did the seatbelts lock with the result of my granddaughters and I being thrust sharply forward. Currently the dealer, Moberly Motor Company has no plans to notify Ford of this incident. The $14,000 repair bill is being borne by my insurance, Shelter Insurance. I have written Ford Consumer Relations but to date I have not had a response. My granddaughters and I were blessed that we were not physically injured seriously. However, we are all three having emotional/mental issues from the wreck. The only warning I had was the brakes squealed when I backed out of a parking place prior to the event. The vehicle is currently at Moberly Motor Company in Moberly, MO awaiting parts for repair.
