My leased 2026 Genesis GV80 2.5T has three unresolved defects: (1) a persistent vibration felt while driving, most noticeable at highway speed; (2) a separate vibration present at idle; and (3) excessive heat in the second-row floor area, discovered during a highway drive — the floor became dangerously hot to the touch, creating a burn risk to rear-seat occupants. Safety risk: The heat issue poses a direct burn hazard to anyone seated in the second row, including a child or pet. The driving vibration affects vehicle stability and confidence at speed. Together they compromise safe operation. Reproduced/confirmed: The vehicle has been brought to two dealers — Genesis of Lake Norman and Genesis of Columbia. Neither has resolved the issues. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Manufacturer/other inspection: UNKNOWN whether Genesis Corporate has independently inspected the vehicle. No police or insurance inspection has occurred, as no crash resulted. Warning lamps/messages: None observed. No dashboard warning lamps or messages appeared in connection with either the vibration or the heat. Symptoms first appeared during normal driving [around MONTH/YEAR] and have recurred since, without resolution despite dealer visits.

In March 2026, I was driving on the freeway when the car shut itself off and put itself into neutral and accessory modes. There was no warning. I was driving my 2022 Genesis GV80 on Sunday April 5th, 2026 when the vehicle started to overheat. This is the second incident that happened due to the vehicle overheating. The first time reported was in December 2025 at a cost of $3400 out of pocket. Now I see this recall for a potential fire that can be caused by the manufacturer defect. This is very concerning, since the vehicle has been serviced since I purchased the Genesis as a gift to myself in November 2021. This does not sit well with me, with Genesis being a "Luxury" brand. I believe that I should have my vehicle repurchased by Genesis due to these mechanical manufacturer defects.

Purchased my 2024 GV80 3.5t in June of 2024 and have been experiencing intermittent issues with the acceleration. Car hesitates when accelerating and can causing accidents while at an intersection making a turn. I have bought the car into the dealership three times, and they are unable to reproduce. Unfortunately, after reading the complaints and symptoms of the fuel pump recall for the 2021-2023 this issue seems identical. I have reach out to Genesis Corporate and they are no help and don't return calls or emails for days.

Battery begins discharge without warning while driving the vehicle. System begins complete shutdown without warning. Experiencing clunking and or jerking while driving no matter if speed acceleration/deceleration. Infotainment system goes out of function without notice - radio, sound, navigation, and safety cameras included. I feel unsafe during driving this vehicle as it does not give any warning when these issues occur. Once in traffic I had to slam on breaks after the truck just shot off after lightly pressing the gas to move forward. Whenever the vehicle is taken in for inspection, no issues are found. I reported the clunking before, the dealer claimed it was a faulty fuel pump. This is a brand-new vehicle and none of these issues should be happening.

Total battery system failure to where vehicle would not start/restart, or if started via jumping, would stall out shortly thereafter. Battery problem to point to where jump starting is difficult due to shorted battery lowering availalble power to start/restart engine. This could have caused unexpected removal of power from the vehcile during traveling or in unsafe areas. This appears to be a very common problem with this vehicle as seen on various online forums and lack of part (battery) availability.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECU/ECM)
The contact owns a 2022 Genesis GV80. The contact stated that in November of 2023 while driving at 80 MPH with cruise control engaged and approaching another vehicle, the contact changed lanes and the vehicle automatically slowed down. The contact stated that while returning to the set speed, the warning lights except for the check engine warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed, and it was determined that the battery was not maintaining enough voltage for the ECU and that the battery needed to be replaced. The battery was not replaced because the dealer did not have the battery in stock. The contact was informed that he could go to any Genesis dealer, and the battery would be replaced if it was in stock. The contact drove the vehicle to Houston, TX in December of 2023 and the failure reoccurred with the check engine warning light and other unknown warning lights illuminated. The dealer, Genesis of Spring (20440 Interstate 45 N, Spring, TX 77373) informed the contact that the battery did not need to be replaced but the ECU needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the ECU was replaced. The contact stated that on [XXX], while his wife was driving and had stopped the vehicle in the driveway, without warning all the side air bags and seat air bags deployed. The seat air bags located in the front driver side and passenger seats as well as the seat air bags in the rear driver seat and passenger seat. The frontal driver’s side and passenger’s side air bags had not deploy. The contact stated that the air bags warning light was not illuminated before or after the failure. The Insurance provider was contacted and had the vehicle towed to a USAA repair facility. The vehicle was inspected by a Genesis engineer at the repair facility. The manufacturer sent an email stating that no assistance would be offered as the air bags had not deployed due to a manufacturing defect. A case was opened with the manufacturer. After 3 weeks of sitting idle, the car door had trouble to open. We changed the key batteries but didn’t fix the issue. The next day, car door opened without issue and the car was fine to drive. The 3rd day, the car went dead with no response to the key. The 4th day it came back to live again. However, the car went completely stalled during driving. The engine stopped and no lights or electricity can be turned on. After 15 seconds, the car restarted by itself. I sent the car to dealership but they cannot find any issue.

The dealer determined that cylinders #1 and #3 were misfiring. The dealer replaced the #2 fuel injector. The contact stated that upon picking up the vehicle from the dealer, the check engine warning light was no longer illuminated; however, there was a strong gasoline odor inside the vehicle, and the odor persisted while driving. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was test-driven, and the contact was informed that the odor was no longer present. The contact stated that upon picking up the vehicle, the failure persisted. The dealer was contacted but no assistance was provided. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing hesitation while driving. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

When I was driving my 2023 GV 80, I was applying pressure onto the gas pedal and the car suddenly started jerking. The car was not accelerating then the check engine sign came on and then the car completely turned off. Then I restarted the car and it was moving really slow. Similar incident happened few other times and luckily I was able to pull over to the parking lot after turning on the hazard light. I drove my car over to the dealership and dropped it off. I am afraid that someone is going to get killed in an accident while they're driving on the highway or crossing the streets

I bought my 2021 GV80 used with 15,500 miles. After driving not even 100 miles, we experienced the vehicle stalling and having no power. Giving it gas, the RPM's would not rise and the engine then shut off. The engine light briefly turned on but did not stay on. After the car shut down and turned back on, we kept driving. We took the vehicle immediately to the dealer where they proceeded to tell us there is nothing wrong because the diagnostics came back fine. But now this exact same thing has happened on 7 different occasions after driving a little over 1,000 miles. This has happened on the freeway, on busy intersections and feel unsafe to drive. On one occasion, we were almost hit from behind because we stalled making a left at a buy intersection. I took it back to a Genesis dealer and one week in their service, we were told they can't duplicate it and we should pick it up. Again, I do not feel safe driving this vehicle. There are no recalls but many complaints about this same problem and no recourse to fix this.

I have been driving my car and it will automatically flip to neutral and start blinking all sorts of engine lights. I can sometimes stop the car and restart it, and it will be okay, but it typically takes a few tries. It has happened after I start my car and am in the driveway, when I'm going ~40MPH and when I'm on the interstate going >70MPH. I have an infant and have been in the car with him when this has happened. This is obviously anxiety inducing anytime I get in the car, but even more so when I need to transport him. I have requested a loaner car from multiple Genesis dealerships until they can diagnose and fix it, but most do not have appointments until September and expect me to drive my car until then.
