The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for a routine tire rotation but was informed there were massive bubbles on the tires, and on one tire, there was a bulge the size of an apple on the sidewall of the tire. The contact replaced the tires. The local dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was contacted and declined to accept the mileage claim and requested photos of the tires. The tire failure mileage was approximately 27,000. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 146,500.

On Saturday, XXX, at around 3:00 PM, my wife and I were traveling southbound on Interstate XXX toward [XXX] (this occurred in [XXX], just north of [XXX]). We were driving our 2023 GMC Sierra 2500HD pickup while towing our 36-foot 5th wheel trailer. I was traveling at approximately 60 miles per hour, and there was heavy traffic on the highway. Just north of Highway XXX, the passenger rear tire delaminated and went flat. The tread came off the tire, striking the wheel well, rear bumper, and tailgate of my truck, causing significant damage. It also hit the front panel of my 5th wheel trailer. The tread then flew off and struck the windshield of a vehicle traveling next to us, but fortunately, there was no damage to that vehicle. I stopped at a Discount Tire store, where the manager inspected the tire and concluded that it had delaminated, likely due to a defect in the tire. There were no warning signs before the tire failed. Before driving that day, I checked the tire pressure on all tires. According to the information on the tire sidewalls, the rear tires were set to 80 PSI before I started my trip. The tire in question was an [XXX] Goodyear Wrangler Trailrunner AT with DOT#[XXX]. I have contacted Goodyear Tire, and they have since picked up the tire for inspection in their lab. I bought this truck from a reputable GM dealership 2.5 weeks before this happening occurred. Tires only had 50k miles on them when they were rated for 80k miles: the front driver side Ttire ruptured while on major hwy in texas. No signs of air loss and the road was clear of any debris. Steering started to lightly shake and eventually came to a violent shake, then the front driver tire ruptured. Uncontrollable steering from the rupture caused the truck to slam and scrape into the concrete dividing barrier. If it were not for the other drivers around and being then cautioning their driving behaviors, this may have resulted fatally. Other drivers and my self may have easily collided with each other on a major traffic highway. I’m still extremely mindful of this happening again. This caused me as a customer, originally thinking this tire manufacturer is to be trusted, to not being a customer any longer as well as causing nearly $30,000 of needed repairs. From what I am reading from this site, plenty of other drivers have experienced the same, almost identical happenings. This is a safety issue that needs a recall on this line of tires and the manufacturer should be liable for all costs to the consumer witch includes vehicle rentals, hotel fees and insurance deductibles, s as well as the entire bill of repairs the insurance companies dish out. It appears from all of the complaints, Goodyear is producing unsafe products that is endangering consumers’ lives. Do the ethical thing Goodyear. Stand behind your product and protect, honor your customers. I have requested a subjugation claim with my insurance provider. The ruptured tire and related wheel are in my possession, available for inspection upon request. Police and GM roadside assistance were called as Onstar was prompted.

No Incident Occurred. Tire Size 275/65R20. Tire Pressure Fluctuating between 59 and 71 PSI. 3 of 4 tires appear to have a defect. Was detailing the vehicle on 7/26/26 and noticed a tear in the Side wall on the Passenger side rear tire. About 3/4" to 1 inch away from the rim along the sidewall. Running parallel with the rim for about 4". Found similar defects and indentation lines on the Passenger side front and Drivers side rear, in varying lengths around the rim. Vehicle has Not Towed, had a Load in the bed or used off road. 1,897 miles all Pavement Mixed HWY and Street use. Vehicle was Purchased 6/25/26. Scheduled for Service 7/28/26. Will have the Dealer look at the tires.

These tires are not safe for off-road to highway use. After transitioning to the highway from a gravel driveway, I noticed that rocks were stuck in the treads. A significant about of rocks became dislodged and start to contact my vehicles underbody steps. I feel as if this can create significant and costly problems for the vehicles that are following close or perhaps behind in any manner. Large rocks and what I would classify as mini boulders are often found lodged in the tread and don't come out till they are picked out or fly out.

DOT AH9K82 3425 LT265/70R17 121/118Q All four brand new tires on my brand new truck have bulges on the sides of the tires. The truck feels floaty and unsafe at highway speeds. The car dealership is saying it’s fine, won’t replace them, and says it’s a known issue with the tire.

Traveling on I-10 doing approx 75 mph head a loud boom and saw sparks coming from the read drivers side of the truck. Truck was riding a bit low on that side. Pulled over and determined the tire had blown up. Currently doing the insurance claim and repair as there was substantial damage to the truck. No crash or involvement by other motorists. Did not hit anything.

I had taken our GMC Sierra 2500 with LT275/R20 Goodyear Wrangler tires into Henderson Chevrolet for maintenance and to have the tires checked. The technician stated that the front tires were showing tread separation. I was shocked because the tires only had around 20,000 miles. The truck is not used for towing and is kept in the garage away from the sun. I asked the technician to double check the rear tires for separation and he stated they were fine. A couple of weeks later, I was driving to California and there was a loud bang on the rear driver side. The truck indicated the the tire was losing pressure. I pulled over to the side of the busy road as soon as possible. The entire tread was missing form the tire and when it came off it damaged the wheel well and the rear bumper and taillight.There was a lot of traffic on the highway and not much shoulder it was a pretty scary and unsafe situation I but got the tire changed with the spare. About an hour later the passenger side tire blew up, there was way more damage on this side including bent exhaust and damage to the fender. I had to get roadside assistance to change the tire so I changed both rear tires so i could have a spare.When I took the car back to Henderson Chevrolet they told me this is a common problem they have had 10 in the last 6 months. Boulder Autobody said they had seen 7 in the last 6 months. Henderson Chevrolet sent both tires to Goodyear to be examined and they conveniently lost one of them and stated that the tires were not defective. Thank goodness no one was hurt, this could have easily killed someone.

The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 MPH, there was an explosion, and the entire tread width of the front driver side tire delaminated and wrapped around the axle. The contact stated that the tire did not deflate, and the radial belts were visible. No warning light illuminated. The contact stated that two months later, with the second set of tires on the vehicle, the failure reoccurred with the driver’s side rear tire. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the two front tires were replaced. The contact stated that with the second set of four tires, the failure had occurred twice. The tires were the original equipment. The contact stated that the tires had a tread depth of 4/32. The contact attempted to notify the manufacturer, but the call was disconnected. The failure mileage was approximately 26,000.

LT275/65R20 is tire size. On 26 August 2025 the tread separated from the left front tire completely, but the tire did not go flat. Traveling in Texas near Christoval, TX at 75 mph on smooth roads. The vehicle had 26,000+ miles and tread depth was over 4/32nd. Front tires were replaced. On 21 October 2025 the tread separated from the left rear tire 90 percent of circumference and the tire ripped open. Vehicle had 27,600+ miles on it. Traveling near McLoud, OK on Hwy 102? at about 50 mph on smooth road. Rear two tires replaced on 23 October. These two tires are in my possession for inspection, tread depth was 4/32nd and 5/32nd. Claims have been submitted to insurance. Picture of 2nd incident attached. These two incidents indicate to me that these tires are defective and should be recalled. Failure has been verified by GMC dealer and Walmart. There were no warning lights either time.

DRIVING THE SPEED LIMIT OF 55 ON A PAVED ROAD, NO WEATHER CONDITIONS AND THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE EXPLODED. WHEN THIS HAPPENED THE TRUCK SLID ACROSS THE ROAD INTO THE OTHER LANE. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS COMING IN THE OTHER LANE AND I WAS ABLE TO GET THE TRUCK UNDER CONTROL. THE TIRE WAS FINE, TIRE PRESSURE WAS CORRECT BUT THE ENTIRE TREAD OF THE TIRE FLEW/BLEW OFF AND CAUSED EXTREME DAMAGE TO THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE WHEEL WELL AND BACK BODY PANEL OF THE TRUCK. An independent was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the tire failed due to the lump found on the front driver's tire. The tire was replaced. The contact stated the failure recurred. The contact inspected the tire and the rear passenger tire also experienced the same failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 265, 000 and tire failure mileage was not included.

Concerning Goodyear Wrangler Trailrunner AT P275/65/20 tires that came stock with my 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD, which currently has 42,000 miles on it. While driving a round trip of no more than 30 miles the evening of 11/29/24, I noticed a slight repetative jaring motion, which I initially attributed to a potential transmission issue. The bump rapidly worsened halfway though the drive. Upon inspection at the time, I could not see any visible damage to the tire. However, the issue escalated aggressively during my return home, resulting in the tire blowing out and detreading entirely. This failure caused significant damage to the body of my truck, amounting to an estimated $3,500 in repair costs. I believe this incident is due to a defect in the tire, as such occurrences are highly uncommon and unexpected from a product of your reputation. I have oil changes as recommended by the trucks service maunual and with ample tread left on the tire and good scores of inspection it begs the question on how a tire could fail so abruptly. I have 3 other tires with ample tread which should last at least another 10k miles but I'm gravely concerned with continued use of them for fear another blowout could cause a fatal accident.

I was travelling south bound on the highway at 70 mph when out of no where the left rear tire failed. The tread peeled back like an alligator skin and tore apart the side of my truck and caused me to fishtail all over the highway. I was able to avoid colliding with other vehicles on the road and miraculously made it to the shoulder of the highway. The tire is a Goodyear Wrangler TrailRunner AT in a size LT275/65/R20. I still have the remaining parts of the tire. My vehicle is still under manufacturer warranty, but the GMC dealer turned me away and told me I had to deal with Goodyear directly. I reached out to Goodyear to file a claim for the tire failure and damages related to it. They have been ignoring me for over a week, so I have filed a claim with my insurance company to handle the damages. I'm currently waiting to get my truck into the shop for repairs. There were no indications of any issues with the tire. I had them rotated as recommended by the manufacturer and kept the tire pressure at the recommended levels through the dealer when my vehicle was serviced. The TPMS light came on as soon as the tire failed and lost pressure showing the vehicle tire pressure monitoring system was working properly when the tire failed.

The contact stated that within a three-day period while hauling a camper on a road trip, all four tires experienced a failure. The contact indicated that the first failure occurred while driving approximately 60 MPH; the rear driver’s side tire experienced a blowout. During the failure, the driver’s side rear quarter panel was severely damaged. The contact stated that later on while driving at an undisclosed speed, the rear passenger’s side tire experienced a similar blowout causing damage to the passenger’s side rear quarter panel. Additionally, on another occasion while driving approximately 50 MPH on the same road trip, the front passenger’s side tire experienced tread separation. While at the service center the mechanic discovered that the front driver’s side tire had also experienced partial tread separation. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 25,400.
