Washer fluid pours out onto windshield instead of spraying. This causes excessive use of washer fluid and a windshield that is not being cleaned effectively resulting in possible hazardous driving conditions due to visibility issues.

NHTSA complaint #11741034 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.

Frisco, TX

VISIBILITY/WIPER

Driver's side mirror has a distorted view and vibrating, most noticable at highway speeds, especially at night. Took it to a dealership and they were not able to recreate the problem both times it was taken to them. This puts my safety and the safety of others at risk as the mirror has a distorted view, making it extremely difficult (nearly impossible) to accurately judge if a car is in the lane next to me when I wish to change lanes.

VISIBILITY/WIPER

The panoramic sunroof glass on my 2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid spontaneously shattered while the vehicle was parked and unoccupied in an indoor garage for approximately one week. There was no external impact, airborne object, or temperature extreme involved. The vehicle is stored in a covered underground parking structure. The glass shattered inward, with fragments falling onto the driver seat, passenger seat, center console, and floor. The sunroof frame shows no signs of external force or impact point. The vehicle had approximately 5,194 miles at the time of discovery. No warning lamps or prior symptoms appeared before the failure. The component is available for inspection. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by a dealer or manufacturer representative, though I intend to bring it to a Honda dealership. This issue poses a significant safety risk, as spontaneous shattering of glass over an occupied cabin could cause injury to passengers. I am aware of a class action lawsuit (Tappana v. American Honda Motor Co., Case No. 2:21-cv-09046) alleging Honda has known about this sunroof defect since 1995.

The component affected is the passenger side mirror. The plastic cap over the mirror spontaneously cracked. It sounded like my CRV was hit by a rock. I looked over and my mirror was folded into the vehicle. The mirror works, it is not cracked and the movement via the driver side buttons works. Upon stopping and looking, the plastic was broken from the bottom around the interior of the cap. Exterior plastic piece was left. I used black duct tape to keep the remaining pieces together. No warning signs. Pieces of plastic flew off the mirror into the roadway where cars were parked and people would be standing. My CRV is going in for an inspection on 4/2/2026.

With temperature in mid 20sF, defrost system would not clear drivers side windshield. With freezing rain i had to stop and clear windshield multiple times. Inability of defrost system design to clear created a driving hazard. 2025 Honda CRV Hybrid windshield wiper fluid does not spray. Instead the fluid is dribbled on to the sides of the front windshield but does not clean the majority of the windshield that you need to navigate with. This new design is highly INEFFECTIVE in cleaning window of dirt, bugs, grime, etc., and makes seeing clearly while driving very difficult and UNSAFE. Even after initiating the windshield wiper "spray" numerous times in a row, the window was left dirty and difficult to see through. Terrible, unsafe, design.

Torrance, CA

VISIBILITY/WIPER

The drivers side wiper does not sweep the whole windshield. It stops short of the upright pillar (at the top of the sweep) by several inches. This extends the natural blind spot (created by the pillar) an extra few inches. When the wipers are put in service mode, it comes to where it should be, but only does this in service mode, not when actually using. The dealer inspected it and suggested the wiper arm could be repositioned. After attempting this, with even with the smallest possible adjustment, it sent the wiper smacking in to the pillar and had to be put back in it's original position. There are no system warnings about a problem with the wipers.

While driving my 2025 Hybrid CRV with 4K miles in a light rain, the wiper stopped going all the way to the edge and now only goes 90% of the way up no matter the setting. In a heavy rain, it will go 96%, and in accessory mode it goes up 100% of the way. I took it to the dealership and they said that this range of motion was standard, then showed me a video they took of a new CRV they had on the lot whose range of motion was slightly better (~95%). I pointed out the clearly visible grime line from when it was working correctly and how in accessory mode it goes up to the line. I also have the anecdote that in the summer I used it to clear pollen and it always went up all the way. They continued their stance that the operation was fine. Since it goes all the way up in accessory mode, I told them it must be a computer issue and asked them if they could reset/troubleshoot it. Since they had put off looking at this issue for the two days they had it at the dealership, they said they would need to address it at another time or keep it a third day. I just took it back and scheduled another appointment, as I need it for work. I am taking it in again, but from my post on the CRV sub-reddit many other new honda owners are experiencing the same issue. The windshield wiper stops at a variable distance form the end of the windshield on the driver's side. Sometimes several inches form the edge, not wiping all the way and at times it impacts the A pillar. This affects safety in rainy weather.

Today (Saturday) was the coldest day since I got my car and I used the remote starter to heat up the car. When I got into the car 15 minutes later there was a crack in the side mirror that was not there the last time I drove it (Thursday) and the car was parked all day yesterday (Friday). I believe the cold temperature combined with the heating element in the mirror caused a crack in the glass. It looks like other CRV owners have had similar issues.

NHTSA complaint #11701976 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.

Cherry Hill, NJ

VISIBILITY/WIPER

I am reporting a safety issue with my 2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid. The driver-side front mirror becomes blurry at highway speeds (60–70+ mph) and sometimes even above 40 mph on uneven roads, making it difficult to see vehicles behind me and creating a significant safety hazard, particularly when changing lanes or merging onto highways. The visibility issue worsens in rain, wind, or other adverse weather conditions, further compromising safe driving. Despite four service visits at my dealership, including a complete mirror replacement on August 25, 2025, the issue persists. Follow-up visits on October 20, 2025, and November 2025 confirmed that the problem was not resolved. My dealership has acknowledged that this may be a manufacturer defect and recommended that I contact Honda directly. This recurring issue directly affects safe vehicle operation and remains unresolved despite multiple documented repair attempts. I am submitting this complaint to formally document the safety concern and request appropriate manufacturer action.

After exiting the vehicle and inspecting it, the contact discovered that the small window near the rear passenger’s side door had exploded and fractured into several pieces. The glass landed inside the cabin of the vehicle on the rear seats. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The dealer confirmed that the window needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 1,850. The VIN was unavailable.

The fluid dispenser is virtually useless. It seems that instead of coming from the bottom of the windshield and squirting upwards on the windshield, it comes from the blades. This causes the washer fluid to squirt almost everywhere except where it's needed. This causes an instruction of vision if the windshield is exceptionally dirty. Seems like a terrible design flaw that Honda doesn't seem to acknowledge.

I copied the following from another complaint, as it describes the problem perfectly: My windshield wipers are ineffective. The liquid cleaner does not spray until the wipers are pointing out, thus causing the liquid spray to roll off the car and NOT clean the spots in the driver's field of vision. The miniscule amount of liquid left on the wipers simply smears the debris on the windshield resulting in a driving hazard

The windshield washer system on my new Honda CRV is not operating to effectively clean the windshield. The washer fluid is sprayed from nozzles on the windshield wipers, only briefly at the far left end of the wiper travel arc. On the driver’s side, the washer fluid sprays only on the far left two inches of the windshield, which the wiper does not contact. The passenger’s side of the windshield, receives no sprayed washer fluid (the fluid sprays only at the end of the wiper travel arc, in a narrow band in the middle portion of the windshield). Both wipers simply smear any dirt/debris on the dry windshield making visibility worse. I now carry a spray bottle and paper towels in my vehicle so I can pull over to clean the windshield when necessary. The windshield washer system on my vehicle is available for inspection. The windshield washer does not effectively clean the windshield, since the washer fluid is not sprayed over the entire windshield. The dry wipers simply smear any dirt or debris on the windshield making visibility worse. Specifically, the area in the driver’s line of sight is not effectively cleaned, creating a safety hazard. The vehicle windshield washer was inspected by the dealer’s service department, which also inspected other CRVs on the dealer’s lot, all of which exhibited the same issue. The District Manager is also aware of this issue. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No No warning messages or indications were evident. The dealer never mentioned this issue, although it has been a function of a new windshield washer design introduced in the 2023 CRVs, and mentioned in many online complaints from CRV owners since 2023. From the day I drove my brand new 2025 Honda CR-V off the lot after purchasing it, in the driver's side rear view mirror, the mirror vibrates terribly as soon as you are going 35/45+mph. The faster the speed, the worse the vibration is. You can visible see the mirror glass shaking. It is very dangerous at all times to not be able to see with this side mirror. It is especially dangerous on the highways because it distorts the view so greatly and also makes me feel disoriented and dizzy when I try to use it to safely navigate the roads. If the mirror glass were to fly off, this would lead to an even greater danger. Yes, this problem has been confirmed by a dealer. It has been brought to Saratoga Honda and they replaced the entire mirror unit. The second unit had the same defect, and did the same thing. They stated if they replaced it a third time, it would not make a difference. They also drove another CRV just like mine off the lot and the mirror did the same thing. This is an issue that needs to be turned into a recall. It is not okay that Honda produced vehicles with something so unsafe, with no ability to fix it.

Driving this vehicle during rain or snow is very unsafe for visibility reasons. 1. Th wiper blade does not fully clean the windshield. There is a very large corner on the bottom left over the driver dashboard that is left unwiped preventing the driver from seeing the yellow line in the road or anything for that matter. 2. In general The heating system does not operate properly and maintain the proper temperature that it is set too. 3. The heating system Related to this complaint is the front dashboard defrost heater that would defrost the window or keep it unfogged while driving. This does not work. At all! When the temp drops outside during rain or snow the Heat needs to be put on full Blast high heat just to defrost the window and keep it clear while driving. Meanwhile the car is about 80 Degrees inside and very hot. 4. It seems that the vent along the dashboard under the windshield is not long enough or wide enough and is very dangerous. Please note, I am [XXX] ” and my visibility while driving is a 3 out of 10 and I’m tall. I can’t imagine a shorter person being able to see at all. I will not drive my brand new car in inclement weather that is how unsafe this is. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
