Passenger airbag weight sensor (light next to radio goes on/off) intermittently not sensing adult passenger in passenger seat. Airbag may not work properly in case of accident and could cause severe injury or death of passenger. Indicator light inconsistently goes on and off. This is an active known recall issue. The VIN for my vehicle is not included in the recall.

The problem I have is: There is 3 recalls for my vehicle. One is the urgent as Takata airbags installed. I called local Honda dealer on 6/27/25, they order the part and I received the email stating that part arrived. I called dealer today to schedule a replacement. When I ask how long it will take, lady say about 1/2 day. When I ask if Honda will give me car to drive in that time, she stated No., but I can rent a vehicle for $75. Dealers name: Gary Smith Honda, 225 Miracle Strip SW, Fl., 32548. Is it safe to drive this car?

The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. I called the Honda dealership in Concord California on 12/2/2024 for the 20V-770 recall as well as the airbag shrapnel issue. They checked with the service manager and refused to inspect the drive train unless there “Was a problem with the car”. They refused to repair the air bags unless “something happens, hopefully nothing happens then we can look at it.” They offered to have the airbags repaired at our expense. What is the point of having a recall if the dealers refuse to even look at the car until it crashes or hits you with shrapnel?

Honda has sent me numerous mailers advertising a gift card and loaner vehicle as incentives for participating in their Takata recall. Honda also cites the promise of a loaner vehicle in every press release trumpeting their so-called commitment to this recall. My local Honda dealership refuses to provide a loaner vehicle. I reported this problem to Honda expecting them to intervene, but I received nothing except useless automated email responses.

I took in my car for the fuel pump recall on October 4th at Clawson Honda Fresno. I took it home the same day and the next day my car was stalling and shut off on me. I took my car back to Clawson Honda on October 8th and they scanned it and said the fuel pressure was low. They cleared the codes that they claimed were unrelated to the recall and wanted to charge me 390 for diagnostics. I refused. My car is still stalling in the road and many of the dash lights come on. The car wont let me accelerate. I took it back to Clawson Honda October 30th because this issue was not present prior to the recall. We just received a call that the fuel pump that was replaced is making the other components work harder which is causing it to stall. This is all clearly caused by the recall but they want me to pay 1500 out of pocket to have it fixed. Which is unfair. I submitted a complaint to Honda corporate but they still say we have to pay dealership fees. My car was working fine before the recall and Im frustrated that it was returned to me in worse condition. This was all because of the recall fuel pump and the issues are all connected so I shouldnt have to pay.

There have been multiple airbag system warning lights on my Honda Fit over the past couple of months. Initially, the driver side airbag inflator warning illuminated and I was able to reset it. Now the passenger side inflator is setting off the warning and it won't reset.

I had my airbags serviced in 2016 at a Honda dealership to fix the Takata airbag recall issue. In 2023, I was hit on the front left portion of the car at an estimated 50mph, and no airbags deployed. I contacted Honda about this issue, and they said my insurance company had to do an inspection relating to the airbag failure reasons, but my insurance company said Honda would have had to send an agent to inspect. My car was totaled and sold by the insurance company. I have the official pictures from the insurance company’s inspection to value the car.

The air bag light flashing saying airbag is off. The electrical system shut off, radio flashed on and off. The steering lost its power and the head lights shut off then everything would come back on. This happened multiple times, I could not control the steering, very unsafe and scary. Car is available for inspection upon request.

A Nissan pickup towing a trailer ran a red light and crashed into the front middle driver’s side area of my 2020 Honda Fit. The driver who ran the red light was traveling at an approximate speed between 40-50 mph. At the moment of impact the left side of my head hit the driver’s side window. The entire left side of my body was forcefully thrown against the door. After my body went left, the force of the impact caused my body to flail to the right. My car is equipped with front, side curtain and side airbags, for a total of six airbags; none of which deployed during or after my car was struck. According to the diagram located in my Honda Fit’s owner’s manual, there is an airbag sensor located on the front/middle section on the driver’s side, the exact point where my car was crashed into. I sustained several injuries that I feel could’ve been prevented had the airbags deployed as they were designed. At the time of the accident, I was turning left after I had gotten a green turning arrow to proceed,. I was traveling at approximately 15-20 mph. I rapidly decelerated as a means to prevent the collision, but was unable to avoid it, as the other driver did not swerve or brake to avoid me. He hit me at full speed. My car has been declared a total loss by my insurance company. The car is available for inspection. I have retained an attorney and we will be getting an investigator to obtain the data from the car’s event data recorder as soon as possible. There were no warning lights for airbags prior to the accident. I was properly wearing my seatbelt at the time of the accident. No post manufacturing modifications have ever been made to my car. I called Honda to report this on February 10, 2023. One of the biggest reasons I chose a Honda Fit, in addition to it meeting my personal needs and size preferences, was because of its safety features, yet when I needed them, the airbag system failed.

Also, the vehicle would intermittently experience hard starting, the theft alarm would erroneously activate and the center of the steering wheel where the airbag was located would become warm to the touch. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer but the failures could not be duplicated and no trouble was found. The manufacturer was not yet contacted regarding the failures. The contact stated that while pulling into an intersection at approximately 10-15 MPH, a vehicle from the passenger’s side crashed into his vehicle while in the intersection. The contact stated that his vehicle was pushed into another lane causing him to crash into another vehicle with the front of his vehicle. The contact stated that the airbags did not deploy. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that there was severe damage to the passenger’s side and front of the vehicle. The contact stated that medical attention was not needed for anyone in either of the three 3 vehicles involved in the crash. A police report was filed. The contact stated that he attempted to drive the vehicle back to his residence 2 blocks away, but the vehicle shut-off and failed to restart. The contact stated that he then placed the vehicle in neutral and pushed the vehicle to his residence where it remained. The contact stated that he had not contacted the dealer or an independent mechanic; however, the insurance company’s accident adjuster provided an appraisal on the vehicle. The contact stated that he was advised by the insurance company that the vehicle was not totaled and would be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated he did contact the manufacturer and was informed he would receive a call back. The approximate failure mileage was 9,800.

Motor mounts bust causing shaking alot of reports on YouTube. Airbag passenger turns off at times no apparent reason. Sometimes with bag in seat or nothing at all. Motor mounts are bad in these cars won't last 100 thousand miles bolts break if it doesn't get fixed automatically. Antioch brake system slides when slammed on breaks in no rain

The vehicle started to bounce and accelerated on its own while making a left turn and was not responding to brakes to slow down and kept going faster and faster. The vehicle was only responding to steering. The car went up a curb into a yard, heading to a house , which was avoided by steering to the driveway and hit a parked car, then proceeded to a car parked on the street, then continued across the street and struck a truck facing the opposite way, which bounced the car into a yard and hit a tree which bounced it back and finally stopped by a electrical line. 4 collisions and no airbag. Because it was 4;45am in a neighborhood street, no one was injured. The car is totaled by the body shop and insurance company is not willing to pursue with manufacturer. The spontaneous acceleration, brakes and airbags are major safety failures. If this was any other time of day or on other busy streets, the outcome could be much worse. I read online that there was a software issue with this vehicle for acceleration in Japan and others who have had this problem here in the US. I would like this investigated and reported.
