When attempting to accelerate after completing a stop, there was no response from the vehicle when the accelerator was pressed for 2-3 seconds, then the vehicle suddenly lurched violently forward and hit the rear end of a vehicle in front causing severe damage to the cars.

These warnings do not clear and are present every time the vehicle is started. As a result, the following safety systems are completely disabled: Forward collision avoidance / automatic emergency braking — the vehicle no longer detects or warns of potential frontal collisions Auto high-beam headlights — no longer switch automatically Adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist — inoperable Road departure mitigation — inoperable In addition to disabling these safety systems, the persistent warning messages significantly obstruct the main instrument cluster display, making it difficult to see basic driving information including speed, fuel level, and odometer/mileage. This is a serious distraction and visibility concern in itself, separate from the loss of the safety systems. I have not yet had the vehicle professionally diagnosed, but based on extensive research into this issue — including reviewing the NHTSA complaint database — this appears to be a widespread and well-documented defect affecting 2018-2020 Honda Odyssey vehicles. We were backing up the vehicle and the children started playing around acting like they were pushing the vehicle. The rear camera showed they were on the back corners of the vehicle and I think also the rear camera. As I pulled away all the safety notifications started to appear - adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, high beam automation and a brake system error. The vehicle was taken to the dealership in Richmond, Kentucky who advised that the issue was the front camera that is in the rearview mirror mount area. I asked how this could be the front camera when everything happened in the rear of the vehicle. They advised they didn't know how but that is what their code readers are recognizing as the issue. They also stated that they have several individuals reporting this issue to them each month but there are no recalls due to this. This seems to be a safety defect as I cannot see how children playing around at the back of the vehicle affects the 'front' camera in turn affecting so many safety items.
