I'm filing a formal safety complaint regarding my 2019 Honda Odyssey, VIN [XXX], & requesting an engineering-level review by American Honda. I've brought this vehicle to an authorized Honda dealer numerous times for recurring & increasingly serious electrical, engine/power-loss, & transmission problems. Despite thousands of dollars in repairs, the problems continue. The vehicle has unexpectedly shut off/lost power; the power sliding doors have failed & required manual opening; low-battery warnings have appeared; & the radio/infotainment system repeatedly loses power and resets. I have photographs showing the message: “Anti Theft System–This system has lost power.” More seriously, the vehicle has malfunctioned in Park, Reverse, while shifting into Drive, & while turning. Most recently, the transmission would not engage properly and the vehicle had to be shut off and restarted multiple times before it would go into Drive. Delray Honda documented this transmission failure/no-drive incident on its August 2026 repair order. In May 2026, I brought the vehicle to Delray Honda for a Check Engine Management System warning. Repairs were performed, but the warning returned within days. Delray Honda then replaced the power distribution module, costing me approximately $2,000. I've spent thousands more dollars addressing these recurring problems without resolution. I understand Honda/NHTSA Recall 19V-299 involved certain 2018–2019 Odysseys and a loss of power to the Transmission Control Unit. My Odyssey appears to have been manufactured around the time of those Hondas that were covered by that recall. I'm not claiming without diagnosis that the defect is identical, but the similarity of the symptoms warrants an urgent investigation. I request that Honda open a formal safety case, review my complete service history, DTCs and TCM/PCM data, determine whether my vehicle has the same or a related defect, and review my prior repair costs for reimbursement. Thank you. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT

We have Multipurpose Camera Failure. No damage or accidents. It just started failing. There are many reports of this and the camera is on back order with Honda. They are charging $2100 to fix it. The official Honda Odyssey Forum online has countless complaints on the same issue without resolution by Honda. Honda has acted in bad-faith towards their customers since this defect impacts the vehicle's advanced safety features for which buyers incur additional expenses, endangering the lives of passengers. Honda has acted in bad-faith towards their customers by designing a system that requires continuous and substantial expenditures without resolution because it is an engineering problem, i.e., the placement of the radar behind the large, thick plastic H emblem obstructs the radar. I hereby ask that the NHTSA investigate this issue and order Honda to offer a solution in the form of a RECALL that permanent addresses the problem. Our experience after contacting Honda Corporate to get some help is this is a money maker for them.

Safety recall 23V-431 / Honda campaign 23-046 (EEL) for the MOST/FAKRA network was completed after I purchased this 2019 Honda Odyssey in May 2026. I did not notice popping or crackling during my brief pre-recall ownership. After several thousand miles following the recall repair, faint but distinct speaker crackling began on approximately 08/02/2026. The upper steering-column/meter trim disturbed during the recall procedure was also returned loose, raising concern about repair workmanship and possible routing or strain on the installed FAKRA service cables or splice boxes. The rearview camera has not yet failed, but its image and the center display depend on the same MOST ring; interruption of that network can remove the rearview image while reversing and reduce rearward visibility. The vehicle's stored MOST shutdown history contains several pre-purchase SUDDEN_SIGNAL_OFF events and multiple CRITICAL_UNLOCK events, so I cannot say the recall created the original network defect. However, the exact crackling warning symptom has now appeared despite completion of the recall. No new post-repair MOST shutdown event had been logged when I checked. The vehicle and recall-installed components are available for inspection. No dealer or independent shop has yet reproduced or confirmed this post-repair symptom. I request that NHTSA evaluate whether the 23V-431 remedy and its installation procedure adequately prevent continuing MOST/FAKRA interruptions and potential loss of the rearview-camera display.

Water has leaked into the driver side rear of the vehicle, causing corrosion and failure of the power tailgate control module. Water has also soaked the carpet and foam in the rear driver side. This power tailgate control module failure has caused a battery drain as the trunk opens on its own and does not respond to interior buttons or key fob buttons. The van battery has needed to be jump started twice so far as a result of this issue. Further investigation revealed some cracks in the body of the van over this area.

While driving my 2019 Honda Odyssey at highway speeds on the 60 freeway, the vehicle experienced a sudden and total engine failure/stall without prior warning. I had all my kids in the car as well. CHP advised to call Honda The sudden stalling resulted in an immediate loss of engine power, creating an unsafe scenario on a high-speed freeway. I was forced to navigate the vehicle across traffic lanes to pull over onto the shoulder safely.

The car started having the ACC, LKAS, Collisions Mitigation, Auto High Bam, Road Departure mitigation system warnings. Took it to the dealer for another repair and was told that these lights were due to the front facing camera and was quoted over $1k for repair. I’m convinced it’s electrical and not necessarily what the Honda narrative is. This model has had several issues around electrical components. Please open an investigation into this car around this issue.

When turning on my Honda Odyssey, the center console remained blank on ignition. When we went to reverse, the camera was not displayed. Even once the car was in drive, the center console remained blank. It would periodically begin to turn on once we started driving while turning off again with a disconnect notice throughout the drive. I have provided photo evidence of this issue. This is not the first time this has happened, and I have reported this issue with my vehicle previously.

The starting and idle systems are faulty. The van will not start up again after parking. There is no pattern and no cause we have found. Sometimes it happens 3-4 times in a week and other times it happens once in a month. Sometimes after stopping at a stop light or stop sign, the van will not respond to the gas pedal and will simply idle into an intersection which has almost caused several accidents. We have not had it inspected at a dealership because we cannot afford it. There have not been any warning lights or symptoms prior to these failures.

Since purchasing the van, have reported intermittent hesitation to dealerships. Never duplicated at dealership. Eventually, fuel pump replaced under recall. Still had intermittent issues. On June 11,2026, while on the highway, van had slight hesitation and codes started going on dashboard. Got off the highway and the van limped into a nearby Home Depot parking lot. Had it towed to Hill Country Honda where they diagnosed a bad MAP sensor. When told it was ready for pick up, informed that the wiring harness was pinched. The technician stated that he had straightened the wiring and when I inquired about it, told that particular wire had to be cut out and replaced. Informed that I would likely have further issues with van and recommendation was to replace the whole wiring harness. I asked how it was pinched and told that it was probably done at assembly point and not noticed since it was under other components. I called Honda Cares as recommended to see if they could do anything for the van but Honda said the van was not under warranty so no assistance was provided. The van has 74,000 miles and always maintained by dealerships. Honda Cares said outside influence was the reason nothing could be offered. I believe that Honda is responsible for this situation and I have known 3 different 2019 owners who shared hesitation issues as new owners. Rear speakers are playing very low and told it might also be affected by wiring harness but I don’t think I should spend $4500.00+ to fix this problem.

As I was driving the other night, the entire dashboard/odometer/screen/etc went black and displayed a “network connection lost” error. In researching this, I discovered there is a safety recall for the MOST Bus connection for certain 2018-2022 Odysseys. My VIN number is not included in the recall, but I am writing to you to see if the recall should include other VIN numbers as this is a serious safety issue and not something that would have been caused by me since the MOST system is located behind the dashboard, and I was simply just driving home. I called my local Honda dealership who said they would charge me $220 just to diagnose the issue. I have told them what the issue is and that what I experienced is same as listed in the current recall, but my VIN number is not included in that recall and suggested that they should report this to Honda so Honda can extend the recall to include other VINs within those specified years. Please encourage Honda to include other VINs in this current recall as this is a safety issue caused by a faulty Honda part. Thank you so much.

While waiting at a stoplight, the auto idle system engaged and turned off the vehicle's engine. When attempting to continue through the intersection, the vehicle failed to start again. The only way to restart the engine was to place the car in park and push the stop/start button again. This caused a safety issue because I was in the middle of traffic at an intersection, and was expected to move. Thankfully the vehicle restarted without requiring any further intervention, and as a result the vehicle was not inspected by police or insurance representatives. This exact problem was previously addressed by Honda under a recall. During that time, they performed the software update as necessary, however that obviously did not remedy the problem. After returning my vehicle to the dealer, Honda has verified that my vehicle did experience this event and now says that it will need a new starter at a significant cost to me. I am dismayed by the fact that Honda Technical Service Bulletin 23-009 addresses this exact problem, including a warranty extension for a starter replacement, and yet is not applicable to the Odyssey model. There was no warning or indication that this incident was going to occur, and until the starter can be replaced, the only advice given by Honda was to disable to auto idle system (which must be done each and every time the vehicle is turned off/on).

I keep getting a brake system light come on. Multiple warnings about the adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, collision mitigation, and auto high beam. I used a code reader and it came back with code U3000-49 Multipurpose Camera Unit/Millimeter Wave Radar Internal Electronic Failure. I have seen multiple reports of this online regarding honda vehicles. Honda quotes repairs anywhere between $1500-$2500 to repair this unit. This should not be an issue on a car that is only 6-7 years old, 5-6 years old at the time the issue started. Given the seriousness of this issue and the amount of reports about this same issue online, a recall of this unit needs to be issued.

Either the ADAS camera or the radar sensor in the van is not functioning properly. The odyssey has know issues like the camera overheating and dies or the radar can be mis aligned by going through a car wash. We do not know which is not working in our van but we are now locked out of basic features on the van. The biggest problem is that cruise control no longer functions. I had previously turned adaptive cruise control (ACC) off and reverted the van to normal cruise control (CC). With the new issue, I al locked out of using CC even though it does not rely on the ADAS camera or the radar sensor.

The vehicle is showing persistent electrical and communication fault codes involving the ECM, ABS, and EPS systems, including P16E2, P16E5, P16E7, P16E8, U0401, and U0416. These codes return immediately, which suggests an active fault rather than a temporary low-voltage condition. The issue appears to involve the battery sensor and/or the related communication network between control modules. Because the faults involve ABS and EPS communication, the concern is that braking-related or steering-assist systems may not be receiving correct data. This creates a potential safety risk because the vehicle may experience intermittent or unreliable control-module communication, which could affect steering assist, braking-related warnings, or overall drivability. The warning lights and diagnostic codes first appeared before the vehicle was put back into normal use and have continued to remain present. The problem has been reproducible because the codes reappear right away after being cleared. No dealer or manufacturer diagnosis has been confirmed yet, so the exact root cause remains unresolved.

Issue: Intermittent infotainment failure – MOST network connection lost I am reporting a recurring electrical failure involving the infotainment system in my 2019 Honda Odyssey. The system intermittently loses all audio and displays a “MOST network connection lost” message. At times, the screen also goes black and reboots. This issue has occurred repeatedly over time, especially after extended driving (e.g., long trips). The audio will stop working completely, and the system may or may not recover after restarting the vehicle. Multiple repair attempts have been made, including replacement rear entertainment system. Despite these repairs, the issue continues to occur. Based on the error message and symptoms, this appears to be a failure within the MOST communication network, potentially involving the amplifier or related components. This creates a significant distraction while driving, as the system becomes nonfunctional and unpredictable. I am unable to access hands free phone capability and navigation features. I am also unable to access the heating and cooling features in the car when the screen is black. This has been happening since about one week after I purchased the vehicle in 2021. I am concerned that this may represent a broader defect affecting multiple vehicles.

On April 13, 2026, I brought my 2019 Honda Odyssey to a Honda dealership in Chicago, IL for a dealer-initiated recall service. The dealer contacted me and asked me to come in. Before the recall service, the vehicle had zero warning lights, zero error codes, and was operating completely normally. Immediately after the recall service was completed, the following warning lights appeared on the dashboard: Brake System warning, Hill Start Assist Problem, VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist) warning, and additional stability/steering system warnings. None of these warnings existed before the service. I returned to the dealership the same day. The service team cleared all error codes. However, within minutes of driving off the lot, all warning lights reappeared. This confirms the issue is persistent and not a one-time post-update self-check. I returned a second time. The service manager stated the warnings were not caused by the recall service and refused to investigate further. The dealer quoted $800 for diagnostic work. I also contacted American Honda by phone and was told they could not intervene. With the Brake System and VSA warnings active, the anti-lock braking system and vehicle stability control may not be functioning properly. This puts me and other drivers at risk, especially in emergency braking situations and on slippery roads. This pattern of multiple safety warnings appearing immediately after recall service on 2019 Honda Odysseys has been reported by other owners. The vehicle and its warning lights are available for inspection upon request.

Since January 15, 2026, our Honda Odyssey has experienced a persistent and unresolved infotainment system failure affecting critical functions, including the rear-view camera. The issue has been reported across three separate service visits (January 15, March 6, and March 26, 2026), during which attempted repairs—including wiring adjustments, battery replacement, and amplifier replacement—failed to resolve the malfunction. Despite escalating to a regional Honda engineer and multiple dealership interventions, the system remains inoperable, and the defect continues to immediately reoccur after each repair attempt. As of April 12, 2026, the vehicle’s infotainment system and rear-view camera are completely non-functional. The issue has persisted for 87 days, resulting in loss of use of key vehicle functions and raising significant safety concerns due to the inoperability of the federally mandated rearview camera (FMVSS 111). The repeated unsuccessful repair attempts and extended delay have led to the conclusion that the vehicle is currently unsafe to operate and has not been restored to a usable condition within a reasonable timeframe.
