My 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 experienced a complete and sudden loss of drive power at high speed, generating open fault code DTC P1A9096 (Internal ICCU Failure) [24V-204]. This failure completely matches the component and safety hazard profile under active Federal Safety Recalls 24V-204 and 24V-868 [24V-204].The vehicle was repaired at an authorized retail facility, Hyundai of El Cajon. The facility's un-finalized pre-invoice explicitly verified the ICCU failure code but deliberately omitted the federal safety recall context, routing the mechanical intervention under an internal manufacturer 'TSB 24-EV-004H' to hide the defect from consumer safety databases [24V-204].This represents a deceptive administrative effort to under-report active federal safety recall failures on newer model inventories across the E-GMP platform architecture [24V-204]. I am requesting a formal safety defect enforcement review into the manufacturer's regional reporting data.

I was slowing down, actively pressing the brake pedal to bring the vehicle to a full stop. As the car decelerated to what my senses and perception registered as a full stop, I pressed the “P” (Park) button while keeping my foot on the brake pedal. I felt the physical click of the “P” button under my thumb while still holding the brake, and my mind registered that the vehicle had successfully transitioned into Park. Before turning around, I visually confirmed that the vehicle had come to a complete stop. Believing it was fully secured in Park, I turned my head to check on my child in the back seat and naturally released the brake pedal completely. However, the system had actually rejected my command. I assume that the vehicle likely still had a small amount of speed at the exact millisecond I pressed the button, and the computer automatically blocked the “Park” command and kept the car in gear. Because an electric vehicle operates in almost complete silence, with no engine noise or vibration to indicate that it is still in gear, there was no auditory or physical cue to alert me that the car was moving when I released the brake. While my attention was turned toward the back seat for a few seconds, the car quietly began to creep forward, leading directly to the collision with the car in front of me. Following the accident, I found that the vehicle produces slightly different sounds when Park is rejected and when it is successfully engaged. However, the owner’s manual describes only the dashboard message and does not describe these sounds or explain how to distinguish them, so their meanings may be learned only through the failure. At the time of the incident, I was not familiar with the distinction between these two sounds. Because my brain processed the physical press of the button as a successful action, and I had visually confirmed that we were not moving, my focus immediately shifted to my child. I was entirely misled by the digital interface.

The Moon Roof glass, which is not designed to open, developed a non-impact, or stress fracture. Since it is not supposed to open, the glass is a structural part of the vehicle. It was not cracked when I first took possession of the vehicle, and since I did not open the interior screen all winter, I never noticed the crack. I reported it to the dealer, but it did not take responsibility or offer a replacement.

Heard a pop sound, drove three-mile back to house, with car throttled speed to 20 MPH on 35 MPH roads. Leased 2025 Ioniq 5 at 4553 mi. Once back, completely died, vehicle wouldn't lock, start or move. We had vehicle towed to Dealer (20 miles away). No warning lights, no notices. The vehicle needs a new ICCU, the associated fuse and a new 12-volt battery. This is a known recall for the Ioniq 5 2020-2024. When leasing this 2025, we were assured the problem was fixed on the 2025 - Clearly that is not the case. This is ridiculous- it should be a recall and fixed proactively rather than a crash potential hazard for the driver.

The emergency steering will engage at random times. The car makes a loud noise, a light on the dashboard illuminates, and the car will try to drive into another lane. This happens at least once a week, and it has never happened when there was another car around, so I wasn't about to get into a collision. It has happened when there is construction and the lane markers are unclear, when the road is a little wet and other times I can't explain. I have always been able to shove it back into the lane I want to be in, but this also seems incredibly unsafe. It could drive me into any sort of situation involving other cars or off the edge of a road. I've Googled and I am not alone in experiencing this problems. I reported this twice to Hyundai customer service.

The ICCU went bad. I am not able to charge it at my house, because it causes the breaker to trip. It does successfully charge at a charging station. But then I learned the power could also go at any point and leave me stranded. The local Hyundai dealer (Burns Hyundai) cannot even look at my car for a month. I discovered that Hyundai has known about this issue for four years and doesn't have a real solution, just replaces the part with another of the same one. The car is not safe to drive at the moment, but I also feel like it will never be trustworthy on a longer drive as long as there's no real fix. Along with the dealer, I reported this twice to Hyundai customer service.

The 12V battery in my 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 failed under normal use, causing repeated loss of vehicle function. Voltage measured ~12.3V at rest, dropping to ~12.0V when opening the door, and collapsing to ~11V then ~9V under light load (headlights), resulting in system shutdown. After a failed start attempt, the vehicle experienced a brownout followed by a complete loss of 12V power for approximately 5 minutes while the battery was replaced. After installing a known-good replacement battery, the vehicle powered up and the instrument cluster displayed “The vehicle is On, Ready” without pressing the start button or providing any operator input. Due to safety concerns, I did not attempt to move the vehicle. Concern: After a complete loss of control power, the vehicle appears capable of entering or reporting a Ready state without explicit operator action. A vehicle should not present or enter a drive-ready state following a power interruption without a new, deliberate user command. This behavior is unpredictable and could present a safety risk if the system were to enable propulsion or mislead the operator about the vehicle’s state. At minimum, it indicates improper state recovery after a power failure.

The ICCU component failed on me at 4,356 miles. Heard a pop with the car and then the dash started displaying electrical errors. To stop the vehicle and turn it off. The vehicle would not accelerate and would only go up to 25 miles per hour. Had to tow it to the dealership. Given a time frame of 30-60 days to receive the ICCU part for repair.

The car lost power while driving. It lost power completely while driving it to the dealer. Had to be towed. I was lucky I was able to pull over out of traffic while it was losing power. Loss of propulsion in the middle of driving is a safety risk.

The Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) component of the 2025 Hyundai Ionic 5 with less than 6 months and 5,081 miles of driving failed. This failure was noted by the warning systems in the car indicating car needed to be stopped and not driven. (Photo attached in later section) Further information indicated a very limited distance to drive before complete car shutdown late at night. The ICCU component failure has been confirmed by the dealership service department where the car was purchased. No warnings were noted before the ICCU failure. This ICCU component failure seems to be common enough to be a known failure, but the frequency has not been made public.

At power-on, the car's diagnostics alerted with DTC code P1A9096, indicating a failure of the Low voltage DC-DC converter / ICCU. Vehicle was parked at home at the time, but there is the distinct possibility of being stranted at an outstation or outside cellular / tow coverage. Despite going back to the dealer to address the issue, and trying all the recommended modifications, the Forward Attention Warning (FAW) goes off repeatedly when the car is utilizing adaptive cruise control. I have written and called Hyundai National to ask to defeat this feature and it is not allowed. This FAW alarm (ironically) diverts my attention from driving as I am having to constantly respond to the alarm. I need the adaptive cruise control in certain situations and Hyundai will not allow me to override the FAW when the car is in adaptive cruise control. Other cars allow for this feature to be fully defeated (e.g. Toyota Prius Prime). I am worried I will have an accident because I am distracted by this alarm going off.

The Driver Attention warning activates almost every 5 minutes. No glasses are involved. I have tried many different steering wheel positions. There are plenty of other 2025 IONIQ 5 owners with the same issues as seen on forums. There is a setting to turn it off but it does not turn it off.

Our 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 has been sitting unrepaired for almost five months due to a complete lack of availability of an essential replacement part (front bumper lower molding part number 86569PI000). The car was involved in a minor collision on [XXX], and although no one was hurt and the airbags did not deploy, the vehicle has remained unrepairable and inoperable. The car sensors can not be calibrated without this part, thus affecting all front sensors of the vehicle. Both the Hyundai-certified repair facility and our insurance company have confirmed that the necessary part is on national backorder with no estimated date of arrival, despite extensive efforts to source it — including looking on eBay and through nationwide networks. This was also confirmed by Hyundai Customer Support with whom we opened case [XXX]. The part involved is necessary for proper calibration of front sensors of the vehicle. We are continuing to pay on the lease while the car sits undriveable and depreciating. This has placed a major financial burden on us and raises broader safety concerns. Hyundai is apparently unable or unwilling to supply parts for its current-year models, which may compromise the safe restoration of structurally- or electronically-damaged vehicles. We respectfully request that NHTSA investigate Hyundai’s inability to supply safety-critical parts for its 2025 models, and determine whether this systemic delay poses a risk to consumers and undermines post-collision safety standards. 1. The Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) and associated high-voltage harness/fuse appear to have failed. According to the dealership, both the ICCU harness and a high-voltage fuse are being replaced. The vehicle is still at the dealer for repairs and can be made available for inspection upon request. 2. While merging onto a freeway on-ramp after charging at a Tesla Supercharger in Barstow, California, the vehicle suddenly stalled, losing all propulsion power. This occurred in live traffic while attempting to accelerate, putting me at significant risk of a collision. I was forced to stop the vehicle on the on-ramp and eventually had to call a tow truck. The situation was hazardous, as there was no shoulder to safely exit the vehicle and other vehicles were traveling at high speeds. 3. Yes. The issue was confirmed by the authorized Hyundai dealership where the vehicle was towed. The dealership stated that the ICCU harness and a high-voltage fuse are being replaced under warranty. However, they have also indicated that the required parts are backordered, and no ETA has been provided. 4. The vehicle has been inspected by a Hyundai dealership technician, and Hyundai Motor America is involved in the case. It has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives. Hyundai Customer Care has acknowledged the issue and is in contact with me, but a resolution has not yet been reached. 5. Yes. Approximately 5 to 10 seconds after finishing DC fast charging at the Barstow Tesla Supercharger, the vehicle displayed a brief warning message related to the charging system. Unfortunately, the warning disappeared quickly before I could take a photo or read it in full. Immediately after, as I attempted to enter the freeway on-ramp, the vehicle stalled.

I purchased this car this week. The vehicle is equipped with a safety feature called Forward Attention Warning (FAW). Its purpose is to monitor the drivers attention (eyes??) and trigger an alert when the drivers attention is distracted for a period of time. I took it for the first time on a 150 mile trip. During the trip, the FAW alarm was triggered constantly. I tried changing my head position, taking my glasses on/off, changing my hands holding the wheel, etc. Nothing seemed to matter. It is not only a nuisance, but it causes other automated functions to be disabled. I was able to partially turn it off, but it still caused misfunctioning of other auto driving functions. Its not just a nuisance, its a hazard. If it cant be fixed easily, Hyundai should at least give the operator the ability to completely disable it.
