NHTSA files every complaint against a named sub-assembly, not just a
system. This is the difference between knowing it was "the engine" and
knowing which part of it — the list to hand a mechanic.

Recalls on the 2025 Hyundai Palisade
A complaint is one owner's allegation. A recall is the point at which
the manufacturer or a regulator agreed the defect is real and dangerous
enough to fix for free — however old the car is.
Canada — Transport Canada
Canada runs its own recall programme, and its campaigns do not
always mirror the American ones.
Recall 202602343,990 units in Canada
Airbag
Issue: On certain vehicles, the side curtain airbags may not deploy properly for third-row occupants in a crash. Safety Risk: A side curtain airbag that doesn't work properly could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Actions: Hyundai will notify owners in writing. The corrective actions for this recall are under development.
Recall 202547643,990 units in Canada
Seats And Restraints
Issue: On certain vehicles, the driver, front passenger and second-row outboard seat belt buckle(s) may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the seat belt(s) may not latch correctly and could detach in a crash. Safety Risk: A seat belt that detaches in a crash could increase the risk of injury. Corrective Actions: To reduce the safety risk, Hyundai recommends to firmly latch the seat belt and pull on it after latching to ensure it's secured until the recall repairs have been completed. Hyundai will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the seat belt buckle(s).
Recall 2025241117 units in Canada
Engine
Issue: On certain vehicles, the electric oil pump may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, water could enter the electric oil pump controller and cause a short circuit. Safety Risk: A short circuit can create a fire risk. Corrective Actions: To reduce the safety risk, Hyundai advises that you should park your vehicle outdoors and away from other vehicles or structures until the recall repairs have been completed. Hyundai will notify owners in writing and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the electric oil pump controller.
Recall 2024552824,695 units in Canada
Label
Issue: On certain vehicles, the compliance label may be missing information in French. The words listed on the label for "Tires", "Rims", "Front" and "Rear" appear in English only, when they should be listed as "Tires/Pneus", "Rims/Jantes", "Front/Avant" and "Rear/Arriere". Canadian regulations require this information to be listed on the label in both English and French. Safety Risk: These small errors do not affect vehicle safety. Corrective Actions: This is not a recall. The company has corrected the compliance label for all new vehicles.

SEATS
The powered operation of the third row in the 2025 Hyundai Palisade fails to stop if anything or anyone is sitting or placed on the third row seat. There has been a report of a [XXX] death with respect to this operation already in Ohio and other injuries across the nation. Hyundai has already placed a stop sell on this vehicle but there are many other vehicles on the road at the moment that can cause additional deaths. There is no requirement to stop driving this vehicle by the NHTSA and it is giving Hyundai 18 months to find and test a remedy. We personally tested the operation with someone in the third row seat and the seat failed to stop closing when the rear compartment button was pressed. As an adult I felt that I would have been crushed if my partner did not reverse the operation. A child in that seat would have been killed. That button can easily be pressed by anything stored in the rear compartment while the vehicle is being driven. We leased our vehicle to carry grandchildren but now cannot use it due to the safety risks. Continuing to drive these vehicle is a serious risk of death and injury and the NHTSA should be protecting the consumers who still have these vehicles on the road. I am the owner of a 2025 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy FWD, VIN [XXX], which currently has two unrepaired safety recalls. The most concerning unresolved recall is NHTSA Recall 25V607 / Hyundai Recall 283, involving front-row and second-row outer seat-belt buckle assemblies that may contain out-of-specification components. According to the recall notice, the buckle may fail to fully latch under certain conditions, creating an increased risk of injury to occupants in a crash. I have been attempting to have this safety recall remedied, but Hyundai has been unable to provide the necessary replacement part. The dealership has advised me that the seat-belt buckle part was ordered but remains on backorder. Hyundai Motor America Consumer Affairs has also confirmed that they are still waiting for the part to arrive at the dealership. I have repeatedly contacted both the dealership and Hyundai Motor America regarding this unresolved safety recall. Hyundai assigned my case to National Consumer Affairs under case number XXX. I have been given multiple promised dates for updates and phone calls, but those calls have repeatedly been postponed without the recall being remedied. Hyundai has most recently confirmed to me in writing that it is still "diligently working on getting the seat buckle order into the dealership" and that I will be contacted by the dealer once the part arrives. My vehicle also has an additional unrepaired safety recall, NHTSA Recall 26V034 / Hyundai Recall 292, concerning third-row ejection mitigation requirements. I understand that recalls must be repaired at no cost to the owner, and I am not asking NHTSA to resolve a customer-service or financial dispute. My primary concern is that I have an unresolved safety recall involving the vehicle's seat-belt restraint system and Hyundai has been unable to provide the remedy because the necessary part remains unavailable. I am requesting that NHTSA document this complaint and review the circu INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
This 2025 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy is a “Top of the Line” model loaded with automatic gadgetry that is NOT ready for Prime Time or any roadway. It is unsafe for the following reasons: Problems appear to be software up-date related; the software updates way too often via overnight web connection. These updates not only change existing status of mundane systems (hatch or doors unlocking opening, etc.); these updates appear to insert bugs into the operating system which then affects the safety of automated vehicle systems which then create unsafe driving conditions on roads. The biggest safety concern is with Hyundai’s “Smart Cruise Control” system. When a driver chooses a set speed they want to follow, here is what happens often: The Hyundai Smart Cruise Control is turned on and a driver “attempts” to index to the desired speed. Once this speed is actually attained all is good. IF the posted road speed limit increases from 25 MPH to 40 MPH the driver has 2 choices, hold the speed increase button in for 3 seconds for a 5 MPH bump up OR press the button quickly for 1 MPH bump ups. Instead, here is what happens OFTEN, a 3 second hold jumps the speed to 65 MPH desired speed! Or, a quick bump jumps to 50 MPH desired speed! It is random and sporadic to what actually happens, so a driver must pay attention and cancel cruise control quickly, then get things back to normal and begin over. All this occurs while moving on a roadway at speed, hence UNSAFE biggly! Also, what happens, these vehicles front view camera read the posted speed limit (on a street-side sign) and “automatically” sets the posted speed into the Hyundai “Smart Cruise Control”. It has upped this SUV’s speed to 95 MPH and 75 MPH automatically! The driver needs to be attentive to what the automated “Smart Cruise Control” systems are actually doing; all while driving on busy roadways! This is VERY UNSAFE! I believe web software updates are creating these problems - STOP updates immediately.

What happened: A franchised Hyundai dealership installed aftermarket window tint on a new 2025 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy Night Edition prior to sale without disclosing it as a dealer add-on. When the vehicle was brought in for an active manufacturer safety recall concerning the rear quarter-window glass, the dealership informed us that the official factory recall remedy (applying a protective safety film) cannot adhere to window tint. Because the dealer-installed tint prevents the recall protective film from adhering, the dealership was unable to perform the safety recall unless the window tint was permanently removed or omitted. Component involved: Rear quarter-window glass and safety recall protective film. The vehicle and windows are available for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: The official Hyundai safety recall addresses an issue where the rear quarter-window glass poses a potential safety risk. Because the dealer-installed modification physically prevents the application of the recall safety film, the vehicle remains without the manufacturer's required safety recall remedy. Furthermore, dealership service personnel initially advised us to simply waive or decline the safety-related recall rather than resolving the modification conflict, leaving a potential safety hazard unaddressed. Dealer Confirmation & Inspection: The issue was confirmed by the authorized Hyundai dealership's service department and Service Director in writing. They verified that the recall film and the pre-installed tint are physically incompatible and that the recall remedy was omitted as a result.

ENGINE
My 2025 Hyundai Palisade intermittently experiences an abnormally high engine idle of approximately 1,500 RPM during the first few minutes of driving. The condition occurs randomly and is not present on every trip. While stopped at stop signs or intersections with my foot firmly on the brake pedal, I can feel the engine pushing against the brakes because of the elevated idle speed. When I release the brake pedal, the vehicle accelerates forward significantly faster than it normally would at idle. The engine speed eventually returns to a normal idle after several minutes of driving, but during the event the vehicle behaves unpredictably. This has occurred on both flat roads and hills. I have documented the condition on video showing the tachometer at approximately 1,500 RPM while the vehicle is stopped and my foot is on the brake. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized Hyundai dealership and remained there for approximately one week. The dealership was unable to reproduce the condition during testing and returned the vehicle without repairs. No warning lights or messages have appeared. Because the condition is intermittent and results in unexpected forward acceleration when the brake is released, I believe it presents a potential safety risk.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Upon returning home on 7/20/2025, I smelled a strong odor of gasoline. I looked under the car and saw that gas was leaking from a small hole on the (R) rear side of the tank. The hole was an approximately 1/16" . Due to danger of flammable fuel vapor and leaking gas I parked away from the house and put a temporary plug to stop the leak. I was shocked to find that the fuel tank was unshielded and made of thin walled plastic. There no warning indicators given prior to this incident. The vehicle has 12383 miles on it. Cause of the leak is unknown, possibly a poor mold casting of the tank.

The issue my car is having happens when the car is but I am at a complete stop and the auto on/off stop engages. I start again and turn the wheel all the way to the left and begin to drive. The wheel locks, then violently snaps back. In some instances it will set off the sensors and disengage the vehicle while I’m pulled out into traffic. I have brought this to the dealerships attention as well as corporate Hyundai. I was told they were able to recreate the problem and it is standard operating procedure. I was given a loaner vehicle and it did not perform this way and so I am doubtful but have also heard may others complain of the same issue.

I purchased a new 2025 Hyundai Palisade SEL from Bud Clary Hyundai Auburn on July 2, 2026. Prior to purchase, the dealership acknowledged that the vehicle had open safety recalls and stated that customers could not take delivery until the recalls were addressed. I later relied on dealership representations that the recalls were being fixed and completed the purchase. After delivery, Hyundai Customer Care and the dealership's service department both confirmed that the recalls remain open on the vehicle. Hyundai has since confirmed in writing that the recalls have been open for an extended period of time. The open recalls include NHTSA recalls 25V607000 and 26V034000. I am submitting this complaint because I believe NHTSA should be aware that a new vehicle may have been delivered to a customer while these safety recalls remained open.

November 2025 I was on the freeway when I heard a loud bang. With my two young children in the car, I pulled off and inspected my car to find the rear moon roof glass had exploded. Luckily at the time, I had the shade closed or the glass would have been on my children and their car seats. I took it to the dealership and after a few weeks, my car was finished being repaired and returned to me. Last week, June 18 2026 I again was driving on the highway and heard again another loud bang. Only a few minutes away, I drove straight to the dealership, I knew it was the sounds of my moonroof again. They repaired and returned my car for a second time.

SEAT BELTS
This is in relation to the recall 25V607000 issued September 19, 2025. My and my children's safety has been put at risk by Hyundai's failure to obtain replacement parts to fix this recall. They have no date expected for the requisite parts, and I am driving with the anxiety that the seatbelts could malfunction at any time and endanger me and my family.
