2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE Wauwatosa, WI

ENGINE

On multiple occasions my 2024 Grand Cherokee 4XE will flash "Service Hybrid System" and cut out while driving. Brakes, steering, and other functions are severely limited on these occurences. I have brought this issue up with the Jeep dealership every time the incident happens and they always ask if there are any lights on. No lights stay on, the engine and all systems just cut out. Tried contacting Jeep corporate help line and never get anywhere with them. I would like to turn the vehicle in, but they will not allow me to do so as they can never seem to find anything wrong with it, since it shows no codes.

2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE Ballston Lake, NY

ENGINE

Vehicle shut down completely while in the left lane of the highway. Thankfully she was able to maneuver it to the shoulder and started it back up and continued on. At 4 AM. Another four days later, the Jeep failed to start in the parking lot of work. Threw every code, including the "red wrench"- service hybrid electric vehicle system, check engine light and other others. We abandoned it in the parking lot and checked the next morning. It started on a whim still with every light on. We were able to get it to the dealership where it has been since January 24. When we went to pick it up today, they told us it was ready to go and it road tested good with no lights on. When we got in it to leave, the red wrench and check engine light went back on. They don't know what the problem is. This was replicated by the dealership and the invoice states: "Vehicle will not move. Pushed into shop".

2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE El Paso, TX

ENGINE

While driving on the highway at 65mph, the car suddenly lost power in middle of traffic and stopped. I was barely able to park on side of the road and was facing a severe risk of being crashed into! I was able to restart the vehicle after 7min by holding stop start button for long time

2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE Novato, CA

ENGINE

While driving on the freeway, the vehicle turned off. No engine, no electric, no headlights. I had to coast to the side during traffic. The mechanic is replacing the OCR module, stating the car thought it was in a collision and turned off. Though obviously it wasn’t. Before which, the screen flashes off from time to time. The car has had loss of power for a moment in the past but never all the way off. This was extremely dangerous and I’m concerned the OCR will not fix the issue. It is with the dealership now.

NHTSA complaint #11644038 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.

2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE Silverdale, WA Fire

ENGINE

We aren't sure what happened exactly. We drove the car 10 minutes from my house to my work, and it started smoking when she parked. The car eventually caught fire and was completely destroyed, including damage to the structure it was parked next to. USAA has the car currently. My safety was put at risk because the car spontaneously caught fire and burned itself, and nearly burned the structure. There is no way to replicate the problem, as it's a slab of melted metal and plastic. The insurance company currently has the car. I don't know if the manufacturer has inpsected it. There were no warning lights prior to it catching fire after being parked. There was a recall associated with the batteries in these Jeeps, but our battery was not part of the recall. It seems the recall should have probably included my car, but it didn't.

2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE Ridgewood, NJ

ENGINE

I was driving in hybrid mode at approximately 50 mph gently accelerating up a gentle hill. All of a sudden, the vehicle lost a significant amount of its motive power and experienced a significant shudder. The power delivery to the vehicle was significantly reduced for 2-3 seconds, puting myself and family at significant risk. The red service hybrid system light lit up on the dashboard and blinked for approximately 5 seconds. The vehicle then returned to normal operation. I took the vehicle to the Jeep dealership the next day and they were not able to find any associated error codes or replicate the issue.

2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE Rootstown, OH

ENGINE

On December 8, 2024, I was driving my car and put it in reverse to back into a parking space, when the car jerked to a stop and shut down. The vehicle went into some kind of auxiliary mode and would not shut down all the way or start. I was stuck in the middle of the roadway for approximately 20-25 minutes and nothing would work to get it to start. After that 20-25 minute time period, the engine started, although the check engine light stayed on the rest of that day. the next morning, the check engine light was off.

2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE Alexandria, VA

ENGINE

On 11/9/24 the vehicle began emitting a burning odor from the hvac air vents. The vehicle was charged to 100% and was driven for about an hour before the burning smell began. The vehicle is available for inspection. The safety of myself and others around me are put at risk, due to the possibilty of a vehicle fire due to the 95B recall. The problem has been reproduced when I drive the vehicle after an hour, of a full charge. The vehicle is being taken to a dealership. There were no warning messages when the burning smell began. Dealer states they are unable to reproduce the burning smell, and that there is no remedy available for the battery recall 95B. In addition dealer states, there is no remedy available to request a replacement battery from Stellantis prior to the 95B software update being released first. I feel there is a risk of injury, death and damage to property due to the vehicle producing a burning smell, when on a full charge.

NHTSA complaint #11624462 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.

2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE Leesburg, VA

ENGINE

On 1/31/24, while merging onto a highway(approx 45 mph), I accelerated into the lane in front of a truck. As I pressed the gas pedal nothing happened. The engine did not rev and I did not accelerate. I swerved on to the shoulder and coasted for several hundred feet and came to a stop. I put the car in park, turned off the vehicle and restarted it. Operated normally after that. The second instance of loss of motive power was on 3/11/24. Turning right on a residential street (approx 15 mph), the car demonstrated the exact same issue. In both cases no warning lights or messages came up, and the 'fix' was the same. Starting approximately 6/15/24 the vehicle began displaying the message "Electric Mode Temporarily Unavailable" while driving. I would experience a loss of motive power temporarily, coast for 5-10 seconds, the vehicle would switch to 'gas mode' and the combustion engine would take over. This happened between 15-20 times over the following 2 months. I was told by the dealership they couldn't do anything about it unless I had video or picture proof of the issue. I obtained both and was told the dealership would no longer take my vehicle in for repairs, only scheduled maintenance. The videos I have are over the size limit however I will include a pic of the dashboard when it happens. I have multiple videos and pictures as well if needed.

2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE Van Alstyne, TX

ENGINE

On the night of [XXX], I was driving on [XXX] with my husband. I lost the ability to steer, accelerate, shift and brake the car. I was able to blast the horn or I would’ve caused a multi-car accident. Unconnect was static and jumping screens. The headlight and taillights wouldn’t stop flashing. The shifter froze up. The car showed multiple error messages, “Service Transmission Continue in D. Don’t Shift Or Turn Off Vehicle Until You Reach A Desired Location. As You May Not Be Able To Shift Again.” “Service Electronic Stability Control” “Auto Park Disabled” “Vehicle Not in Park” “Drowsy Driver Disabled” Every feature on the car disabled. I got the Jeep pulled over before I lost complete electrical, engine and battery power. Jeep Roadside Assistance would not come get us. USAA Insurance had to make two trips since the car couldn't go in neutral and had no power. They towed it to the nearest dealership. The dealership put in a new battery but that didn't work. They ran diagnostics. The valve body is faulty and shorting out which isn't allowing the car to start. This part is on backorder and will not be available for weeks. I'm waiting a month for a new part in hopes that solves the first issue. Then we see what diagnostics says about the remaining problems. I was moments away from dying along with countless others on the busiest Interstate in Texas. Jeep brand isn’t providing safety and reliability. This is a brand new vehicle that came from the factory with faulty parts. Jeep has already settled a Class Action for this same issue on the 2021-2023 Wrangler.
