AFTER FILLING UP GAS TANK AND DRIVING FOR ABOUT A MILE, VEHICLE STUTTERS AND STALLS. DURING THIS, THE BRAKES ARE DIFFICULT TO WORK AND THE STEERING GOES OUT. THIS HAS HAPPENED AFTER FILLING GAS TANK MANY TIMES, MOST RECENTLY IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY STREET WHERE I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED. AFTERWARD, I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN RESTART. IT HAS A SLOW START, AND THE PROBLEM SOMETIMES HAPPENS ONE OR TWO ADDITIONAL TIMES, BUT THEN RUNS FINE UNTIL THE NEXT TIME I HAVE TO FILL UP THE GAS TANK. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN INSPECTED AND NO SOLUTION WAS FOUND. THERE WERE NO WARNINGS BEFORE THIS HAPPENED.

My ABS module has gone out, giving me an UNSAFE Jeep Patriot, now with ZERO ABS or Traction control, major issue in Tampa driving! Apparently, according to the dealer here, they're on "galactic back order" for a few years now; I couldn't even find one at a used parts store in the area...had to resort to Ebay, having it installed at the dealership this week, who says they'll install it (Janet) but they won't guarantee they can program it and it will reset those dash lights?!?! They can't guarantee it? Then something needs to be figured out to GUARANTEE I have a working Jeep, complete with ABS and traction control. This is a major, according to several people I've spoken with but there's no recall? If something is on back-order for the dealership for years, something needs to be done, you have Jeep customers riding around unsafely in vehicles they purchased WITH safety features, Feel free to call for more details. [XXX] [XXX] P.S. I'll have a receipt after I go to the Jeep dealer this week, have it installed WITH NO GUARANTEE, but it'll be in...might not work, but it'll be in...and that's good enough?!?!?!?! While driving the vehicle will randomly, without warning or any dash notification icons alerted, turn off engine- radio, lights, a/c everything else is still on but engine is off. This occurred 4 times in less than a 2 mile distance without any check engine or notification lights on the dash before, during, or after the event. This issue originally started about a week ago, when the check engine and throttle system notification icons came on, followed immediately by the car going into what seemed to be limp mode. Car was towed to the jeep dealership, they said issue was the battery and that an oil change was needed. Had issues addressed took the car how two days later, same issue occurred again. While driving same two icons suddenly came on then car went immediately into limp mode and was not driveable. Took the car back to the jeep dealer, they took a few days to drive it and stated it was the fuel throttle body that needed to be replaced. Had the part replaced and the car drove as normal, no icons on dash after the repair, next morning same issue occurred again while driving, icons come on dash, immediately car goes into limp mode. Circling back to the biggest concern, is I’ve found large amounts of owners having the exact same if not oddly similar issues with varying years of the jeep patriots. Many are reporting my reason for this report in that suddenly after Jeep dealers require all these repairs they’re experiencing the engine completely shutting off WHILE DRIVING. This is incredibly dangerous and I’m concerned as to why there A. Isn’t a repair for this common issue in these models, and B. Why a recall hasn’t been submitted for the most dangerous scenario where many owners are having their cars engines shut down while driving, and some at high speeds. This is incredibly dangerous and frustrating that our safety has not been addressed when online there are years worth of forums for these issues without resolution.

Vehicle suddenly stalls with no prior warning, both while driving and at rest. This cannot be duplicated and does not throw codes on the code scanner. Occasionally it will "hiccup" and keep going instead of a complete stall. RPM drops to zero and will then jump back to their prior reading. The vehicle becomes impossible to control (stalled so no speed st all abd difficult to steer). Mechanic cannot duplicate problem or find code on their reader. We have replaced the throttle body and one camshaft sensor but not the other, more difficult to reach sensor. There is a current recall for camshaft/crankshaft sensor that applies to some 2016 jeep patriots but ours falls outside of that manufacturing date range.

Vehicle is known to have an issue with rusting subframe/crossmembers . Warranty on this vehicle was extended. (Service Bulletin 23-007-17, X69 Warranty Extension) However upon multiple dealer visits and requesting inspection was not notified that issue was happening. Approximately 1.5 years after warranty extension had expired noticeable issues started occurring including noises that got worse and prompted a visit to dealer. Had to fight tooth and nail to get dealership or company to work with me on repairs on low mileage (121K) vehicle and even then they missed 1/2 the problem and told me not to come back to the shop. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - See beginning - How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? - Front crossmember completely rotted out and separated, holding on by only control arm - Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? - Yes, know issues but wording of service bulletin and dealership neglect result in customer not being informed or postponement of repair until too late - Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? - Dealership - Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? - No warning other than single notification of warranty extension, asked for vehicle inspection 7 months prior to warranty expiration and given an all good -

On 5 occasions at various speeds and types of roads, my vehicle suddenly goes into limp mode, the engine shuts off and power steering goes out. I have very limited time and control to move off the road before the car behind me slams into me. The majority of the instances this has happened, the orange anti-skid light comes on though road conditions were fine. I found a recall of 2016 Jeep Patriots (s89/NHTSA 16-v-907 Crankshaft/Camshaft Sensor Wire Harness) and many complaints I've found experiencing the same thing I experienced were included in this recall. Mechanic ran my Jeep's code and it showed a number of things were triggered but he couldn't pinpoint what exactly could be the cause based on the code errors. I have a young child in a car seat in the back of my car and feel extremely unsafe taking her anywhere, let alone when it's just me in the car. Please consider adding the 2015 Patriot to this recall.

front and rear crossmember assembly rusted through car available. acknowledged history on this and related models of Chrysler products resulting in a additional 10 yr warrantee on these components which was not communicated to original owners and has now expired. vehicle has the potential to lose driver control and cause injury or death. no warning but rust has been visible for years but consumers not advised of extended warrantee. now cost of repair exceeds book value. Jeep disavows any responsibility for this defect in materials after the warrantee's expiration.

I would like to recall my 2016 Jeep Patriot because the crankshaft and camshaft sensor are failing to work properly and that increases the risk of crash. There were also problems with the steering column and the tires being off balance because after balancing was found to move without the steering wheel being turned. The recall is important because the vehicle is potential for crash . I only found these things out after driving and seller claimed everything was at top shape but bent the truth due to the small amount of miles put on the vehicle and the fact that I didn't crash the vehicle.

Within 1.5 years my car kept slowing down when driving out of no where. We almost crashed because the car literally won’t pick up speed or just jolts a few times then stops. We spent over $1000 to have it fixed with 3 different mechanics. They said it was the crankshaft I believe and catalytic converters. We just got the car brand new in 2016 so this has been frustrating because we get oil changes every 3 months and take great car of the car. We’ve had two get brakes don’t over and over and also when you turn the wheels it’s loud and sounds like the ending of a roller coaster when you here it turning. The rides are not smooth either you can see my hand shaking hard when driving even at slow speeds like 35 mph. Jeep really sold us a lemon and we have been paying such a high car note on top fixing things each year. After so many complaints, they really should reimburse people who spend money fixing the same issue. A law suit may handle the issues as well but due diligence would be Jeep seeing the issues and repairing the problem or refunding for the repairs. I’m hoping someone else will see my complaints and think twice before purchasing this vehicle

I went to get my car inspected and was told that I would need to replace my cross member/subframe which would cost thousands. I was trying to figure out how to fix it for less when I came across a discussion board where everyone with these vehicles were having the same problem. I also look on YouTube and all the comments under multiple videos showing how to replace it also had the same problem. This issue is Chrysler knew this was an issue and extended the warranty for that part and most owner of that vehicle had no idea they did. The owner ended up paying thousands for the part or trading their car in and buying another one. I believe Chrysler quietly extended the warranty and never properly notified vehicle owners of the extension. They also didn’t make any type of public announcement that would inform drivers who brought the cars used after one or more owners had it. They also did not allot enough time for the warranty. In the extension letter to dealership I dug up online was announced in 2017. The cars with this issue where produced in 2008-12 but they only extended the warranty to ten years from the start of service. That means if you brought a car in 2008 you would have had less than one year to realize you where eligible for a new subframe under warranty. Also they should have recalled the parts since so many people were have issues with it. And if one’s lived in a state where they don’t need safety inspections they would never have known.

2010 Jeep Patriot Newark, OH

I kept hearing an odd click, creek noise from the driver side front end. It sounded like something was hanging or something had broken off. I took it into a shop and it was discovered that the front sub frame was rotted in several places and had broken. When the rear was inspected, it is rotted to the point where you could push your finger through if you tried, and there was a section bent. I can no longer drive this vehicle, and I am still paying on my vehicle. I owe $4,900. The repairs would range from $2,500-$3,000, if it even can be repaired, just for the front. The shop stated there was a recall to fix this issue so I'm reaching out to see if this could be covered or what measures are offered if any in this situation.

STEERING

My Jeep will not pass inspection because of excessive rust/rot on the front and rear sub frame. To have both front and rear sub frames repaired will cost me approximately $3,000 dollars, which I do not have. This should have been recalled and covered by manufacturer long before this time. What am I suppose to do know with no usable vehicle ???

I’ve had numerous problems with this car. I’ve already replaced cv axles and now the steering knuckle needs replaced! The car is shaking and knocking and is not safe to drive. It’s being replaced in a few days but is costing over $800 and this car has not been in an accident and is only 6 years old.
