The contact owns a 2022 Keystone Montana RV. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V144000(Electrical System, Equipment) several times. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle had experienced electrical failures and was taken to the dealer, where it was discovered that the inverter had caught on fire due to the solar controller failure. The contact was informed that the solar controller had failed and had sent 40 Volts to the electrical system instead of 12 Volts, causing the electrical failures. The dealer determined that the solar controller, the inverter, the converter, the 12-Volts battery, the 12-Volts brain, the 12-Volts command center, and several lights needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the solar system supplier had met with the insurance company and informed the insurance company that the solar system parts on the RV had a factory defect and should no longer be used. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but denied assistance because the vehicle was out of the manufacturer's warranty. The vehicle was being repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000.

On 4/26/2025 The Suburban stove caught on fire. This is a serious issue, if were not in the RV to catch this, all our belongings and our RV would have went up in flames. Now the company wants to do a half baked repair.
NHTSA complaint #11657330 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.
LED lights behind the burner knobs on the stove caught fire. When you turn on a burner there is a LED light behind the knob that lights up red to identify it is on. Turned it on to start cooking and while preparing food on the island after a few minutes smelled plastic burning. Turned around and a flame was coming out behind the burner knob. Quickly was able to extinguish it. Luckily I was standing right there. If not the scenario could have been a lot worse. I was able to remove the burner knob and found the the LED light had black burn marks on it which indicated where the flame was coming from. After that a portion of the LED light was not functioning and the other half would not go out. Had to totally disconnect the power source from the LED light. Posted on the Keystone Montana owners forum and within 1 hour 5 other people replied to having similar problems. This is a significant issue and could lead to very serious consequences. Luckily nobody in my family was injured and no major destruction occurred to my camper.

While traveling with the trailer the slide topper blew off the the holders. It did not come of the trailer complete but if it would have the roller could have become a projectile and damage a vehicle coming from behind. I believe it should have had two screws in the front and rear holder so if a screw bloke the other one would protect the roller. The one I had only had one screw installed but there is a second hole for a second screw. The screw not the front holder was not installed correctly because you can see where it is broke off. I have photos to show the broken off screw.

MY RV HAS A SET OF FOLDING STEPS FOR ENTRY. THERE ARE 4 STEPS. THE TOP LEFT RIVET IS ALL BUT PULLED OUT. THEY ARE UNSAFE FOR USE, HAVE A LOT OF FLEX WHEN USED AND REQUIRE THE PLACEMENT OF CONCRETE BLOCKS UNDER THEM TO BE USED SAFELY. KEYSTONE HAS A RECALL ON QUAD STEPS. #15-224. MY DATE OF MANUFACTURE FALLS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DATE RANGE OF THIS DEFECT RECALL. WHEN I CALLED KEYSTONE I AM TOLD THERE IS NO RECALL FOR MY VIN NUMBER. MY STEPS HAVE THE EXACT SAME DEFECT. KEYSTONE REFUSED ANY ASSISTANCE. WITHIN 3 MONTHS OF PURCHASING A NEW KEYSTONE MONTANA 5TH WHEEL THE REAR FIRE EMERGENCY WINDOW LATCH BROKE. IN ORDER TO CONTINUE USING THE 5TH WHEEL THE WINDOW HAD TO BE SECURED SHUT WITH WIRE TIES. THIS EMERGENCY WINDOW IS ONE OF ONLY THREE FIRE EXITS FROM THE TRAILER. IT IS THE ONLY FIRE EXIT IN THE REAR EXTRA LIVING QUARTERS. IT HAS BEEN OVER A YEAR WITH THIS PART ON "BACK ORDER". NOW I AM TOLD THEY NO LONGER PRODUCE THIS PART AND KEYSTONE RV DOES NOT SEEM TO WANT TO FIX IT AT ALL. I HAVE READ ON THE INTERNET THAT THERE ARE HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF THESE FAULTY EMERGENCY WINDOW LATCHES THAT HAVE BROKEN AND ARE NOT BEING FIXED BY KEYSTONE RV. SOMEONE WILL EVENTUALLY DIE IN A FIRE IF THIS ISSUE IS NOT ADDRESSED!

MALFUNCTION OF AN AUTO-LEVELING HYDRAULIC JACK. WHILE IN TRANSIT THE LEFT FRONT JACK EXTENDED NEARLY COMING IN CONTACT WITH THE ROADWAY. IF THE JACK WOULD HAVE COME INTO CONTACT WITH THE ROADWAY THE CONSEQUENCES COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC. I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE JACKS SINCE I FIRST PURCHASED THE TRAILER. I HAVE HAD THE TRAILER JACKS LOOKED AT OR REPAIRED BY THE DEALER ON AT LEAST THREE OCCASIONS SINCE PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE IN SEPT OF 2013. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS PROBLEM.

OURSELVES AND OUR NEIGHBOR BEGAN SMELLING PROPANE FOR ABOUT A WEEK OUTSIDE OF THE RV. RV SERVICE TECH INSPECTED IT AND WE WERE TOLD THAT IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE FITTINGS AND REGULATOR BETWEEN THE TWO PROPANE TANKS. RV SERVICE TECH SAID HE HAS REPLACED MANY SUCH FITTINGS AND HAD NOTIFIED KEYSTONE WHOM GAVE HIM NO RESPONSE. HE ALSO ASKED HIS SUPERVISOR TO FILE A COMPLAINT BUT WAS UNSURE IF HAS EVER BEEN REPORTED. OUR 7 GALLON PROPANE TANK LEAKED ENTIRELY EMPTY IN LESS THAN TWO WEEKS, WE WERE SWITCHED TO OUR OTHER PROPANE TANK WHILE THE OTHER WAS LEAKING. WE ARE SHOCKED AND SURPRISED WITH THAT MUCH PROPANE LEAKING THAT WE DID NOT HAVE AND EXPLOSION. IT COST US $80.00 TO BE REPAIRED TO A SAFE CONDITION.
