As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

The contact owns a 2024 Mazda CX-90. The contact stated that while her husband was driving 70 MPH with the cruise control activated, her husband attempted to deactivate the cruise control before exiting the highway; however, the cruise control failed to deactivate. The brake pedal was depressed, but the brakes failed to stop the vehicle. The contact's husband exited the highway and drove into the median to avoid crashing with other vehicles. The driver turned the steering wheel, causing the vehicle to flip and then slam into the ground, fracturing both axles. The cruise control then deactivated. The contact stated that only the front driver's side air bags deployed. The driver suffered hip and arm bruises, while the contact suffered a lump on the head, and as bruises on the collarbone and arm. The driver received medical attention at the scene, but the contact declined. A Police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard but had not yet been declared a total loss by the insurance company. The contact stated that prior to the failure, the message "Trailer Attached in Tow Mode" was displayed and the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who replaced the wiring harness due to corrosion. The steering wheel on our Mazda CX-90 has been getting stuck when turning the vehicle. This failure occurs when there is a slight turn in the wheel (approximately 25-45 degrees). The steering wheel gets stuck and the driver has to use force to "break" it loose. This action causes the vehicle to overcorrect into either the lane next to vehicle or into oncoming traffic. I have done research and Mazda has acknowledged that this is a known issue and even issued a recall for our 2024 Mazda CX-90. However, Mazda has also more recently come forward and said that their corrective action does not always correct the recalled issue. We recently had a near miss into oncoming traffic while trying to "unstick" our steering wheel. We have called and email Mazda and they have stated there is nothing new they can do to correct this issue.

On April 29, 2026, my 2024 Mazda CX-90 Turbo S Premium Plus experienced a steering malfunction while I was entering a right turn. The vehicle had Mazda steering recall 6524A / NHTSA Campaign 24V-022 marked closed/completed before this crash. I was traveling on a familiar road and attempted a normal right turn that I make regularly. As I attempted to turn, with no warning lamps, warning messages, or prior warning immediately before the incident, the steering wheel suddenly required abnormal effort, felt stuck, and would not turn normally. I was in complete shock from the sudden steering issue and abnormal resistance. The vehicle then struck the curb, left the roadway, and traveled down an embankment/grade of approximately 15 feet into a residential yard. The crash involved significant driver-side/front-left damage. The front driver-side wheel/tire separated and was found near the vehicle. The driver-side airbags deployed. Scene evidence included curb/edge impact damage, debris, and a deep ground-level rut/indentation below the roadway. This incident placed me and others at serious risk because the vehicle left the roadway and entered a residential property. The vehicle and failed components are available for inspection upon request. To my knowledge, the only prior inspection or repair related to the steering system was performed by the Mazda dealership in December 2025, when recall 6524A was marked closed/completed along with other recalls. The vehicle has not yet been independently inspected for this crash-related steering concern. Before the crash, the vehicle had multiple issues and spent significant time at the dealership for recall and non-recall repairs. One ongoing issue was a brief grinding/rubbing noise when accelerating from low speeds, which existed before the dealer work and continued afterward. Mazda/dealer indicated this low-speed grinding/rubbing noise was a known reported issue with no fix at that time.

POWER TRAIN

I bought my 2024 Mazda CX-90 PHEV 10 months ago with 22000 miles on it and no and now has 29000 miles on it. First thing I had a issue with was a Motor Mount was bad, took 12 weeks to get part was told it was safe to drive. Next, since I have had the vehicle I have been having a issue with the transmission making a noise while both shifting from first to second and also on down shifting. It does not happen all the time but is happening. I took the vehicle in to the dealership to have it looked at and they were able to reproduce the issue. When they conferred with Mazda on the issue they were told that it was a known issue but there is no fix for it at this point and was dertermined safe to drive. I also talked to Mazda myself who also told me that it was a known issue but there is no fix and determined it safe to drive. I love the vehicle but to have this noise keep happening and being told they are working on a fix does not make me feel confident in the vehicle with this especially when my wife also drives it. My biggest question is this is a 2024 Mazda and I am told the 2025 also has the same problem. How long is the answer were working on a fix to long to believe that they actually are since there are now 2026 and soon to be 2027 models coming out. I am being told it is only the PHEV vehicles having this issue which explains the reason the PHEV model I believe is being discontinued. Would love to hear from you what my recourse would be. During normal operation of the car the radiator sprung a leak which could have resulted in leaving us stranded with our young kid. this was verified by the dealership who's only solution has been to replace the radiator at our expense. There were no warning lights or other indications of the damage other than coolant leaking from the bottom of the car

I am filing this complaint regarding a serious steering safety issue with my 2024 Mazda CX-90, which I purchased on March 24, 2026, with approximately 40,000 miles. The vehicle previously underwent Mazda Safety Recall 6524A involving the steering system and increased steering effort. After purchasing the vehicle, it developed a serious steering problem. At approximately 50–65 mph, the steering wheel can become stuck or extremely difficult to move when I attempt to steer left or right, as if the steering is physically sticking. This creates a serious safety risk because the driver may be unable to make an immediate steering correction at highway speeds. I brought the vehicle to an authorized Mazda dealership and specifically requested that they determine whether the problem was related to the previous 6524A recall. The dealership documented my complaint as the steering wheel getting “STUCK” at 50/65 mph and referenced Recall 6524A and increased steering effort. The dealership inspected the vehicle and marked the steering concern FAILED. Their written recommendation states that the vehicle “needs steering rack.” The estimated repair cost is $2,236.45, with a total estimate of $2,524.19 including fees and taxes. I escalated this issue to Mazda Corporate and requested coverage because the vehicle previously received a safety recall repair involving the same steering system. Mazda Corporate denied coverage, leaving me responsible for the repair. The financial burden is also a serious concern. I currently cannot afford the approximately $2,500 repair, meaning I am unable to have this documented safety defect corrected. This puts my family in the difficult position of potentially needing to operate a vehicle with a known steering issue and also raises concern that other owners could face the same situation if they cannot afford the repair. I purchased the vehicle used. The issue I have been having is the steering feels sticky, heavy, or briefly resistant when turning. It is very prominent when turning the steering wheel to the left, especially going around corners and rotaries, but even bends in the road. When trying to straighten out after the turn, I have to jerk the steering wheel back to the other direction. This becomes a control issue to keep within my lane. Driving straight the issue is present as the steering doesn’t self‑center smoothly. The issue happens once the car is "warmed up" - if I started cold in the morning, it is not present, but within a few minutes of driving the steering effort changes unexpectedly. The issue has been ongoing since March 2026.

Driving down the freeway, the car throws an error code, reduces speed from 75 to 40 in seconds, with enough time to pull off the freeway. The car has an error code stating "Hybrid battery malfunction." Now the car will not start. The Dealer could not get it started and now wants to charge me for a diagnostic. But from my understanding, they should cover a new battery under EPA regulations (40 CFR Part 85). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

After diagnosing the second failure, the dealership informed me that, in addition to replacing the mild hybrid battery, corrosion had been found in the wiring harness and internal wiring associated with the hybrid battery system. Those components also required replacement. Due to parts availability, my vehicle remained at the dealership for an extended period before repairs could be completed. This vehicle has experienced the same hybrid system failure twice within approximately 58,000 miles, despite the first battery having already been replaced. I am concerned that this is a recurring defect affecting the mild hybrid electrical system. The contact owns a 2024 Mazda CX-90. The contact stated that while her husband was driving 70 MPH with the cruise control activated, her husband attempted to deactivate the cruise control before exiting the highway; however, the cruise control failed to deactivate. The brake pedal was depressed, but the brakes failed to stop the vehicle. The contact's husband exited the highway and drove into the median to avoid crashing with other vehicles. The driver turned the steering wheel, causing the vehicle to flip and then slam into the ground, fracturing both axles. The cruise control then deactivated. The contact stated that only the front driver's side air bags deployed. The driver suffered hip and arm bruises, while the contact suffered a lump on the head, and as bruises on the collarbone and arm. The driver received medical attention at the scene, but the contact declined. A Police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard but had not yet been declared a total loss by the insurance company. The contact stated that prior to the failure, the message "Trailer Attached in Tow Mode" was displayed and the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who replaced the wiring harness due to corrosion. Campaign 6524A Recall was completed in JUNE 2024. The recall repair has now failed and the steering is sticking/malfunctioning when you turn the steering wheel. Reliable Mazda dealership in Springfield Missouri informed me yesterday the recall was already completed and now I will be responsibility for the bill to repair the failed RECALL repair. Which the repair was a new spring and grease.... The car is not safe to drive. The steering wheel sticks and you have to forcefully jerk the wheel to center the steering wheel again. We do not have the money to pay nearly $4,000 to repair a failed recall that Mazda should take care of.

While the vehicle was being driven under normal operating conditions, the driver's front seatbelt lower lap anchor completely broke loose and separated from the lower vehicle frame sill. The structural metal anchor plate at the end of the belt is now swinging completely free, and the plastic door-sill trim molding at the base of the door opening is completely broken from the force of the separation, exposing the underlying wiring. Because the primary safety restraint system completely failed and detached from the vehicle body, the vehicle was immediately deemed unsafe to drive and was towed directly to Westshore Mazda in Tampa, Florida for inspection

Went to Mazda dealership who state it’s mechanically related to a rack and pinion within the steering components. My car was part of the initial “sticky steering” recall which the previous owner had done in March of 2024. Happy to allow inspection if needed. My safety, along with the safety of others, is at risk anytime I travel along a curve where I could cross into on coming traffic because I am unable to forcefully move my steering wheel out of the “sticking” position. Potentially deadly. Mainly notice it around speeds of 45+ regardless of weather.
