FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

The recall C4B/NHTSB 24v-893 came out in January of 2025. The parts are still not available for this recall (per Chrysler/RAM). I have been driving my truck with a possible non-working ABS system for a year and a half, often pulling a 10,000 lb trailer. I feel that this is ridiculous that the part is still not available. If I had a wreck during this time, I guarantee that I would sue the crap out of Chrysler.

Vehicle: 2017 Ram 2500 4x4 Diesel NHTSA Recall Number: 24V-896 Manufacturer Recall Number: C4B My vehicle is subject to Recall 24V-896 involving a Brake Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) that may fail and cause intermittent loss of ABS, Electronic Stability Control, and Traction Control. Beginning around September 2025, my vehicle started experiencing intermittent ABS and Electronic Braking System warning lights while driving. The warnings occur randomly during vehicle operation and not only at startup. I have contacted and visited my Ram dealership multiple times regarding both the recall and the active warning lights. The dealership advised that recall parts were not available and did not perform a diagnosis of the warning lights. I was informed that the recall remedy was unavailable and was not provided a determination regarding whether the vehicle was safe to operate. Because the dealership would not diagnose the active warning condition, I paid for an independent inspection. On March 5, 2026, an independent repair facility diagnosed Diagnostic Trouble Code C0020-01 (ABS Pump Motor Control Failure). Their inspection notes state that they flow-tested the ABS system and determined that the ABS module was faulty. The symptoms currently being experienced by my vehicle appear consistent with the failure mode described in Recall 24V-896, which states that a failing HCU may initially result in intermittent loss of ABS and traction control before progressing to permanent loss. As of June 2026, the recall remains incomplete and the remedy is still unavailable. I am concerned that the vehicle is exhibiting symptoms consistent with the recalled defect while no repair is available. I am requesting NHTSA review the delay in providing a remedy and the safety implications of vehicles experiencing active symptoms associated with this recall while parts remain unavailable.

ABS System Module/System Brake Failure Unsafe and Can not drive anymore The problem was produced December 5, 2024 and they have refused to fix the recall. The problem has been inspected by several local dealerships as well as team Dodge ram and Chrysler Corporation There is warning lights that actually accelerate and go off every 60 seconds as you’re driving. This has been going on for years and it was like this four days to five days after we drove off the car lot and we paid $40,000 for this truck..

I have called & been to Fletcher Chrysler in Franklin, IN and they said that there is still no remedy/fix for the brake recall on my vehicle. I use it to tow our 5th Wheel & am seriously worried about towing it in the Spring, as well as daily driving in around. It has now been 14 months and there still is no repair for this Recall issued in Nov 2024.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

I received notification of Manufacture Recall C4B (NHTSA Recall 24V-896) in Nov 2024. My intermittent ABS light on my dashboard is continuously going on and off, indicating a problem with the anti-lock braking system since 2024. This prevents the setting of cruise control as well as a constant alarm sound. I feel this directly correlates from the brake hydraulic control unit HCU susceptible to failure or malfunction as stated in the recall and feel unsafe to drive my vehicle due to the potential risk of loss of ABS/ESC/Traction control that may cause my vehicle to crash without prior warning. I have attempted to remedy this situation by contacting the Washington, NC and Greenville, NC Dodge dealerships and Mopar Parts Support (800-765-7732) directly for immediate repair only to be told that they do have my information on a ticket but do not have a part to fix it, but in the same breath tell me I can buy an after market part at my local auto parts store at my cost and have the dealership install at my cost to resolve my issue. This is unacceptable, as I now have a financed vehicle that I purchased from a Dealership and I am unable to confidently drive due to safety concerns that my life and others on the roadway may be in danger. In addition I am continually paying my monthly finance payment, auto insurance , yearly taxes/tags since the recall November 2024 and it is now August 2025 and I have an unsafe undriveable vehicle! I am seeking your assistance to demand the manufacture fix the problem by repairing it, replacing it or repurchasing the vehicle.

BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS

My truck is a 2017 Ram 2500 and is experiencing the same issues as those included in NHTSA Recall No. 24V-896. However my truck was produced before the April 1, 2017 range listed. I have replaced the HCU as recommended by the dealer on [XXX] at my own cost and this did not resolve the issue. The dealer says the control module is faulty, but Chrysler will not provide the part as they say the HCU I purchased is in the Faulty range also but they say that even though the part I purchased to correct the issue is under recall, my truck is not and they have not responded to my request to correct the issue. This is a safety concern as it affects ABS, TSC, Parking Assist sensors and most importantly prevents the vehicles 4WD system from engaging which is an extreme safety concern in the mountains of North Carolina in winter. I have been trying to fix the problem at my own cost for a year and a half and the gross negligence on the part of Chrysler and Stellantis will not even allow me to purchase the needed parts. I am seriously considering legal action due to this total disregard for the safety and lives of their customers. I have read online that this is a common problem for Ram Trucks. The SEBS and ABS lights and alarm will start flashing and dinging- the result is Intermittent ABS and traction control lights, no cruise or 4x4. I have 38,000 miles. I spent approximately $1300 to have it repaired. When I was. At the Ram repair shop, I was told that the parking lot was full of similar Ram trucks with the same problem. So clearly there should be a recall.

Issue a recall here! Many others are reporting this identical issue and a class action suit has been filed! ABS sensor light and chime comes on at random times. My truck just reached 100,000 miles. I've performed no troubleshooting but it is extremely intermittent, either the Service the Automatic or Service the Electronic Braking System(s). Usually, a bump in the road makes it come and another turns it off. Sometimes it happens so quickly, only the message and traction control disabled light comes on, sometimes only the chime comes in. Sometimes the message stays up and the brake warning and traction control light comes on, sometimes for a few minutes, sometimes a couple of seconds. To compound the problem, there appears to be an issue in sourcing replacement parts resulting in a delay in repair. A delay in repair could result in a additional damage to the vehicle, not using the vehicle (not an option) or ultimately an accident. Also can’t use cruise control when it’s displaying.

The illumination of the ABS light and traction control light. The light actives intermittently. The reported problem from a vehicle code reader is “ ABS pump motor control general electrical failure”. With the lights illuminated, I am no longer able to use cruise control. Prior to the warning lights I noticed I was having to depress my brake pedal harder than normally at random times. No signs of brake fluid loss or leaks. The brake pads are in good working condition. I have not taken it to a dealer as I have read the replacement parts are on back order and there are multiple lawsuits pertaining to this issue as well.

On November 9, 2022 I had the Control-Anti-Lock Breaking System repaired by Bob Moore Chrysler Dodge in Tulsa. They replaced the HCU and performed a base bleed of the brake and ABS breaking system. This repair was prompted by the vehicles ABS warning light and chimes activating during operation. As of September 3, 2024 the same ABS warning light and chime is again activating during operation. I paid $620.00 the first time to get this issued repaired and I do not feel that I should have to pay this again on a part/system that is obviously defective from the manufacture. My research into this issue shows this is a common issue on these models as well as a possible safety problem.

On my truck my ABS and traction control light came on as well as a message that say to service ABS system. The parts are on back order for a year now. This problem has surfaced on many Ram 2500's. I contacted the dealer and they don't have parts to fix if. When driving in wet conditions especially while towing a trailer the wheels lock up while breaking. I've been towing going down hill and have had to use a combination of engine breaking, downshifting and feathering the brakes to slow down. Chrysler Fiat should issue a recall on this issue since it happens to many Ram 2500. This started when I had only 38k miles on my truck. Chrysler fiat has issued a recall for the 2019+ trucks but not the 2014-2018 which have the same exact problem. I'm hoping you can help this matter.

The check electronic brake system light started coming on intermittently in October 2023. Dealer determined it was a faulty hydraulic control unit but it took three weeks to locate the part for a vehicle just over 24,000 MILES and based on other reports I consider myself lucky to have my truck repaired under four weeks. RAM was completely unapologetic and had me pay full price for the repair. I have no trust for the replaced part or RAM as a brand.
