A spike years after the car went on sale usually means a part wearing
out on schedule across the whole fleet — the kind of pattern no single
owner can see from inside their own car.

Recalls on the 2016 RAM Promaster
A complaint is one owner's allegation. A recall is the point at which
the manufacturer or a regulator agreed the defect is real and dangerous
enough to fix for free — however old the car is.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling various Dodge, Chrysler, and RAM vehicles equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V824-0103.pdf. Issue: On certain vehicles, the tire and loading information label does not list that there is no spare tire in both official languages. The label reads as "NONE" when it should read as "NONE / AUCUN". Canadian regulations require the information to be listed on the label in both English and French. Issue: On certain wheelchair-accessible vehicles, the compliance label has incomplete information. Also, the tire and loading information label may not have been updated to include the new seating capacity and the maximum weight of occupants and cargo. This could lead to overloading of the vehicle and cause poor handling or a tire failure. Safety Risk: Overloading of the vehicle could cause a loss of control and result in a crash. Corrective Actions: Dynamic Specialty Vehicles will mail new compliance and tire and loading information labels to each owner, along with instructions for how to install them.

If a driver attempts to exit the vehicle while the transmission is not in the Park position, and the parking brake is not applied, the vehicle could move suddenly. Safety Risk: Sudden and unexpected movement of the vehicle could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: FCA Canada will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the transmission shift cable.

Recall 20172269,987 units in Canada
Label
Certain vehicles may fail to comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 208 - Occupant Protection in Frontal Impacts. The sunvisor airbag warning label, User Guides and Owner’s Information DVDs incorrectly identify the vehicle’s passenger and driver frontal airbag systems as “Advanced Airbags”. In the event that occupants rely on the Owner’s Information or User Guide, they may position themselves closer to the airbag than they would if compliant information regarding the airbag system had been provided, which may increase the risk of injury to a front seat occupant in a crash where frontal airbag deployment is warranted. Correction: FCA Canada will provide vehicle owners with a supplement to the Owner’s Information DVD and User Guide to reflect the use of non-advanced airbags. Additionally, FCA Canada will also provide a replacement sunvisor airbag warning label to identify airbags as non-advanced.
Recall 20163069,190 units in Canada

On certain vehicles, a defect may cause the transmission pump rotor to seize or break, resulting in a loss of transmission pressure. This could result in a loss of motive power which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions may increase the risk of a crash causing injury. Correction: dealers will replace the transmission pump assembly.

I purchase this car used from a dealer. the transmission failed at 87564 miles. i had the a new transmission installed. The gear box or shifter failed at 91231 miles. I had that repaired. The timing chain started to fail at 100432 miles. this issue would cause the car to stall randomly. This I feel is a safety issue. The car is not being driven for the cost of repair is out of my budget.

The 2 items that were listed on the recall caused the transmission to fail. In turn, I had to replace the transmission. If it weren't for the recall, the transmission would have been fine. I first noticed there was a problem when it wouldn't allow me to shift gears. When the dealership fixed the items listed on the recall, they stated that the transmission wasn't a part of the recall so they weren't going to do anything about it.

Parking brake won't release when temperatures are at freezing or below. Consensus opinion on the internet is that water is getting into the cable + cable housing line and freezing, which causes the cable to stick inside the housing. Thus, when releasing the parking brake, the cable doesn't move and the pads are still pressing against the drums.

The problem I'm having with my truck is I can't keep a head light from burning out. I just had one quit that was a month old. I've been using the spec. lamp from Sylvania H7. What really sucks about this is in the past 2 years I've installed at least 7 or 8 head lamps, and at a cost of $45 to $55 bucks each it's Bull#@#$. Why can't Dodge come up with a better head lamp.

Twice my van has unexpectedly and without warning shifted into neutral. The first incident was 8/24/21 and I was stopped at a red light. When the light turned green and went to drive and the display showed I was in neutral and the van wouldn’t move. The display on the shifter flashed neutral. The van was still on but wouldn’t move. I had the van towed to the nearest Dodge dealership and they could find nothing wrong. The second incident was yesterday. I was approaching a red light and close to stopping when the van chugged and said it was I neutral - I felt a difference in the propulsion as if it was not driving but gliding. Again the display screen showed it had unexpected and without warning shifter into neutral. The police were called both times to redirect traffic and ensure a safe tow.
