Ive been waiting for years for the previous recalls I have been informed about to get fixed. Feul system,brake lights.Was told by Toyota that someone would call me to come to get them taken care of. In the meantime, constantly checking that my brake lights are working before departing on any excursions in truck & patiently waiting for toyota to reach out when they were gonna fix the first 2 recalls that I was notified about. I can't recall the date exactly, but I was driving on the highway w/ my still backward carseat, facing 2y.o. baby safely strapped in,ThankGod.As accelerating into my lane, heard huge BOOM like an IED. Immediately, the check engine light among others came on.Truck immediately lost power & was violently shaking.Felt it in the steering wheel, but largely in engine compartment.@this time,I tried to get over to shoulder to a safe place.I turned the car off.Let it rest checked on my infant in back made sure he was ok. After letting car rest, turn back on to my surprise All lights were off.I was w/in few miles of home so went directly back, never getting to my intended destination. Shortly before driveway, all lights came back on & multiple service messages.Since then the truck has not been driveable,As we have specifically looked up recalls,thusly Nov.recall matched lights on the dash for the specific make,year, model of truck. From my understanding, it says that there is no remedy for such recall. But that is untrue. The remedy is an entirely new engine. They just haven't rolled out the recall info to everyone applicable. I am unable to work. My home is without a vehicle and this is unacceptable.Along w/ safety risk to me and infant. I'm sure Toyota doesn't want to admit or remedy Because that is very costly. But this was a mistake made by the company. And it should be remedied, because our family is suffering in various ways. Lost revenue. Inability to respond if emergency etc.I need a new engine.& in the interim,I need a car supplied while fixed.

Throttle response is unpredictable. From a stop sign, acceleration is difficult to predict. Sometimes a one second delay occures before acceleration power is effected. With the time delay the throttle has been pressed further than normal. In heavy traffic, a collision could be possible. The problem got worse after a firmware update, during a safety recall to replace rearview touch screen. Pedal Lag problem is noted on Toyota Tundra forum.

The vehicle experiences hesitation when starting to move from a stop. So if i come to a stop and pull out into traffic it sometimes hesitates before applying the throttle that has been input via the pedal. This could cause serious injury because its almost impossible to determine when its safe to pull out into traffic because you do not know how long it will take for throttle to kick in.

Unknown. Intermittently when merging into highway traffic from the onramp, the truck will stall and I will lose acceleration. There will be a loss in power and the truck speed will not change. instead it will just coast with no ability to change speed. I have owned the truck for 1 year and 3months. I advised the dealer and they can not duplicate the issue.

Add a stoplight or stop sign at a full and complete stop…. I pressed down the accelerator and nothing happens for about a second and a half… When it finally does respond, it jumps as if it was struggling to get into gear and popped itself… However, then it goes right back to normal.. But the slow starting happens very often. Definite lag when punching on the gas.

There have been multiple times, since owning the vehicle, when there is dangerous throttle lag. I step on the gas to turn and nothing happens for a few seconds. It can be pretty scary when there is a car coming and the truck just rolls for a few minutes before accelerating. It’s become a major safety concern for my family.

Since purchasing this truck in 2023, the engine or transmission has exhibited a severe throttle lag/hesitation when cold—a 2–4 second delay in acceleration from a stop after pressing the gas pedal, followed by a sudden lurch, which creates a safety hazard when merging into traffic. No warning lights, error messages, or other fault indicators appear. The dealer has been unable to reproduce the issue because the truck is warm by the time it's inspected, and no inspection has been performed outside the dealership.

After I come to stop at a light or A stop sign, when I press the accelerator the truck lurches out into the intersection then stops and the truck will not move for 1-3 seconds even though I am pressing the gas pedal. When it finally responds, the truck jumps or lurches forward. Each time this happens I am almost hit and people have to drive around me. I have been almost hit like 50 times. This is a huge safety issue.

I get random lags in thorttle engagement when starting from complete or rolling stops. When this happens, it behaves like there is a delay between the throttle input and the engine resoponse. Push the throttle to go, and no go, and after a delay of usually part of a second, then it jerks and goes. Most times there is no problem and the throttle responds correctly, but this issue occurs randomly almost every time I drive.

I am writing to report a serious issue with my vehicle’s throttle response. When accelerating from a stop, the vehicle consistently hesitates and feels as though it may stall, leaving me vulnerable in traffic or at intersections. This problem has already resulted in three very close calls, two of which required police involvement. I no longer feel safe operating this vehicle under these conditions. When rolling in to a Round About (rotary) at a slow speed and the applying throttle the truck takes a second or tow before increase forward motion. The lag time is usually around 1.5 seconds and when the time has lapsed it lurches forward. This hesitation in forward motion has put me and my passengers in danger of being T-Boned multiple times. The modes most often used and notice this delay is ECO, Normal, and comfort. It's been this way since day one and when mentioned to the dealer I then get a response that it is normal.

When accelerating from a stop it has a severe delay. I’ve read now this is not normal. Sometimes the delay can be 1-2 seconds causing confusions at like stop signs and such as I’ve pressed the gas and get nothing. While driving under normal conditions, my 2023 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro Hybrid experienced a sudden and severe loss of propulsion. The vehicle abruptly entered fail-safe (limp) mode and would not accelerate beyond approximately 5–10 mph. This occurred without warning and created an immediate safety hazard in traffic. Multiple warning messages illuminated simultaneously, including: Hybrid System Malfunction, Check Engine, Smart Stop System Malfunction, and Advanced Ultrasonic Detection Malfunction. The hybrid system effectively shut down and the vehicle could not maintain normal road speed. I brought the vehicle to a Toyota dealership. The dealership performed only ECM and hybrid ECU software updates and cleared codes. No mechanical inspection, oil pressure analysis, particulate inspection, turbo system evaluation, hybrid motor synchronization testing, or engineering-level diagnostics were performed. Toyota Corporate subsequently stated that the software update was the “final” resolution and declined further diagnostics. I was advised to return to the dealership if the issue reoccurs. This failure mode matches the documented loss-of-propulsion behavior described in Toyota’s V35A engine machining-defect recall (sudden power loss, limp mode, cascading system failures). Hybrid models are currently excluded despite using the same engine platform and exhibiting identical symptoms. Sudden loss of propulsion at road speed presents a serious crash risk. This appears to be a safety-related defect that is not being adequately investigated or remedied for hybrid models.

Tundra has had and has throttle lag. Lag is so noticeable that other drivers notice. Following lag is a burst of power causing a jerk and or lunge forward. This is after a long pause. Happens on a roll, or start-stop situation. My truck has had the toyota tsb applied a long time ago.

The truck will hesitate for a brief second while trying to accelerate from both stop and in drive where it'll jolt you forward. This will also happen when shifting into driving and it jolts you forward. This is a huge safety risk because my truck can stall when i need the truck to go. I have brought it up to the dealership which told me multiple times as "normal". No lights has popped up but I know my other cars doesn't stall when giving gas.

the fuel guage on the dashboard shows inccurate infroamtion. I filled up the tank and went out of city. Once I came back home, next morning it was showing full tank. I was unsure about the quantity left, i filled up the tank and it was almost 11Gallon missing but it was showing full even on the gas station. It was fixed after a while but again today, it shows the full tank on dashboard but I saw half last night. I seached up online and it shows so many other people having the same issue. They also put some solutions but none of them worked for 2023 tundra. This could be a great risk if you are on a long route and do not know how much fuel left .

The engine of my 2023 Toyota Tundra failed at approximately 34,500 miles. The failure involved sudden loss of oil pressure and severe internal damage, with metal shavings found in the oil and oil filter. The oil filter itself detached during the incident and was later recovered with metallic debris inside. The vehicle and the recovered filter are available for inspection upon request. While accelerating from a stop light on a busy morning public road, the engine suddenly lost power, illuminated multiple warning lamps, and entered limp mode with “low oil pressure” and “engine malfunction” messages. The truck rapidly leaked oil, creating a roadway hazard and putting me, my wife & son, and other drivers at risk of accident. I was able to limp the vehicle home .5 miles from the incident at reduced speed, but complete engine seizure was a possibility. Toyota of Fort Walton Beach inspected the vehicle, confirmed metal shavings in the oil pan, documented codes P05202 and P052049 (low oil pressure and oil pressure sensor stuck in range), and noted “oil was very metallic.” The vehicle was inspected by Toyota dealership technicians and corporate representatives. I also have possession of the oil filter and photos/videos from the inspection. At the moment of failure, the dash displayed low oil pressure, check engine light, and a message regarding engine/electronic malfunction. Prior to this event, there were no warning signs — the truck had been serviced two weeks earlier at 33,360 miles, and I drove approximately 1,200 miles without incident until the catastrophic failure. This failure matches the description in Toyota Recall 24V-381. My vehicle’s build date (February 27, 2023) is less than two weeks outside the published recall production window, yet the symptoms and inspection results are identical. I respectfully request NHTSA investigate whether additional 2023 Toyota Tundra vehicles outside the current recall window are affected, as my case demonstrates the same hazards.

You start with a half tank of gas or so. Then you park on an incline like a driveway. When starting the truck again the fuel tank shows full tank and more miles available till empty which is inaccurate. The gauge does not reset till you refill. Workarounds online do not work. This is a safety issue in mountain driving when you park you may miss how much gas you have left and can stall causing an accident or being stranded in a remote area. Toyota says they are aware but online reports show it has been a known issue since 2022. I feel this should be addressed before someone is hurt or stranded. This issue has occurred multiple times to me.

The contact owns a 2023 Toyota Tundra. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V566000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) and 25V322000 (Exterior Lighting); however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair and the vehicle was inspected. The contact was informed that the parts needed to be ordered, and the parts were ordered. The dealer contacted the contact, and the contact was informed that the parts were available. The contact scheduled an appointment for the recall repair however, when the vehicle was taken to the dealer, the contact was informed that the parts were sold. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Periodic sluggish gas pedal response. Often from a stop when pressing the gas pedal the truck lurches a little forward then slows down as if I took my foot off the pedal right after pressing it. Nearly got rear-ended a couple times.
