EXTERIOR LIGHTING

The daylight LED lights have gone out. There is no replacement aside from replacing the whole headlight. LED’s shouldn’t go out and the cost of the replacement is high.

2021 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport Chicago, IL

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

One of the day time running lights have burned out. The car just turned 5 years old with about 70,000 miles. In reviewing some posts online a lot of owners have complained about the same thing. Also you cannot replace the bulb, you have to replace the entire unit.

NHTSA complaint #11744410 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.

2021 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport Algonquin, IL

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

Daytime running lights are non replaceable and a hazard left unfixed. The dealer refuses to acknowledge this or do anything but charge me 1600 dollars to replace. We don't have that kind of money just sitting around these days and they refuse to do anything. DRLs are critical for visibility. We had an extended warranty and they replaced 1 side last year instead of both. Now that the warranty is up they are telling us we are out of luck with this hazard driving around the street.

2021 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport St. Peters, MO

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

At 76000 miles, the daytime running light on the passenger side went out. I took the vehicle into the dealership for repair and I was told that because there is an internal open circuit, the entire headlight assembly will need to be replaced. I was quoted $1600 for the part, not including labor. This is a safety issue due to one daytime running light being a distraction for other drivers as well as myself.

2020 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport Diamondhead, MS

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

Both day time running lights failed right after warranty expired. This repair requires over 2300$ repair because both entire headlights need to be replaced. This is a frequent problem that VW is aware yet refuses to rectify. It cause my vehicle to be less visible because of aporr design by VW.

The daytime running light on the passenger side is out. The entire headlight assembly and bumper have to be removed to repair this. It will cost $1400 to repair. This is a safety issue and should be covered by Volkswagen.

2020 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport Boaz, AL

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

While driving, the vehicle experiences intermittent electrical malfunctions affecting multiple systems. The door locks cycle repeatedly, windows roll down on their own, and when attempting to roll the windows back up, they immediately roll back down. The dashboard lights flicker, become extremely bright, and at times go out completely. The central display (including Apple CarPlay) also shuts off entirely. Multiple warning alerts appear, including emergency brake warnings. These failures occur while the vehicle is in motion and create a safety risk due to loss of system visibility, inability to control vehicle functions, and unexpected vehicle behavior. The vehicle was initially taken to an independent repair shop due to these issues, where I was informed of Recall 97GF (wiring harness issue), which is associated with the same electrical failures. The vehicle was then taken to a dealership for recall service. The dealership retained the vehicle for approximately one week and advised that the repair resolved the issue. The vehicle operated normally for approximately three weeks following the repair. However, on or about [XXX], the same electrical issues reoccurred. The vehicle was returned to the dealership on February 20th, where it remained in service for over 45 days. Despite multiple repair attempts and extended time in service, the issue was not resolved and continues to occur. The dealership has indicated that the recall procedure was completed, but the original condition persists. The issue was also escalated directly to Volkswagen of America through a customer care case. The manufacturer reviewed the situation and stated that the recall procedure had been completed and the condition was no longer considered related to the recall. The case was subsequently closed without resolution, and the vehicle continues to experience the same electrical failures. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on five separate occasions to address the failure. During the visits, the bulb was replaced, the taillight assembly was replaced twice, and the control module was replaced. The dealer later determined that the module had been installed incorrectly. The repairs were completed, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 11,000.

2021 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport Goldsboro, NC

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

Exactly at 50,000 miles, both Daytime Running Lights stopped working This is a very well known issue in the owners community and seems very o purpose, since to fix it, instead of just having to replace a bulb or small part, dealer requires to replace the whole headlight assembly

NHTSA complaint #11717947 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.

2021 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport Houston, TX

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

The passenger day time running light quit working randomly. This also is part of the lamp that provides cornering light. Without this, it decreases visibility early morning or evening driving. The issue has been confirmed with a mechanic and is a huge impact for this vehicle model. There were no warning lights or alerts about an issue prior to the failure of the part.

2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport Newport, TN

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

There has been no incident with my car. The DRL on the drivers side stopped working and wasn’t my fault. The price to replace the light is absolutely unheard of. I have owned three Volkswagens and loved all three but this is very disappointing. The car only has 40,000 miles on it. I don’t feel like this should’ve happened this soon.

NHTSA complaint #11696366 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.

2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport Kissimmee, FL

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

The front light led bulbs died. First it was the driver side at 53k miles, now the passenger side. The car has less than 55k miles. The price for the repair is outrageous. $2,000 for just ONE led bulb change. I’ve seen forums and many, many WV Atlas have the same problem. WV should be responsible for this. $4,000 total for two light bulb replacements! It’s insane!

NHTSA complaint #11694246 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.

2021 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport Jacksonville, FL

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

One of the daytime running lights has gone out with only 45,000 miles on my vehicle. Dealership says they need to replace the entire headlight assembly, instead of the bulb, at a cost of $1,500. No prior warning as to this issue. There are a number of cases with this same problem at low vehicle mileage.

NHTSA complaint #11675947 — an unverified report by a vehicle owner.

2021 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport Kansas City, MO

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

2021 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport Spartanburg, SC

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

Driver side headlight stopped working after a little over 4 years but less than 50,000 miles. On coming drivers from other side of road are distracted by only one light working and tend to serve toward my car. No warning signs or messages appear in the car. Unfortunately, outside of warranty and the entire light console needs to be replaced. Appears to be a common problem on the Atlas Cross Sport 21' and per dealer parts on back order.
