Vehicle is repeatedly losing functionality of features controlled by what is referred to as the infotainment system, included lane departure warning, sound associated with turn signals, sound associated with GPS, use of hands-free calling system, etc. Upon reset, functionality resumes but the reset takes a few minutes and must be performed again and again as the issue is recurring. The main problem is that you don't know the functionality is temporarily down until something causes you to notice (IE no steering wheel vibration when departing a lane without turn signal, no alerts on backup camera - objects are visible but off-screen objects don't trigger a warning like they typically do, etc) so you don't expect anything to be wrong when it is. I marked that this incident occured today - which it did, coincidentally on the way to a service appointment about this issue specifically, but it has been happening with increasing frequency over the last couple of months.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
I was completely stopped at a left turn. The rear collision sensor went off for no reason. The seat belt locked up so aggressively I could not get a breathe in and it ripped my insulin pump patch right off my stomach. If I was a couple hours away from home my blood sugar would go through the roof and cause ketones which could be fatal. Luckily I was 20 mins away from home. Being a [XXX] since [XXX] I am now [XXX] Volvo told me this is normal safety feature after inspecting the log. I don’t think it’s normal for collision sensors to go off while not moving as well as the seat belt aggressively pulling to the point were I can’t breathe and it rips off a life depending medical device right out of my stomach. If it is normal then they should have a warning for [XXX]. I’m currently trying to get out of the car lease completely as this feature could literally kill me. Automatic braking failure: Another vehicle slammed into my vehicle as I was moving at a slow pace. That other vehicle pushed the front of my vehicle into a dumpster in a parking lot. The automatic braking should have engaged and stopped the car so it wouldn't have crashed into the dumpster. It is unlikely the vehicle is available for inspection as it was towed to a salvage yard. My safety and that of others was put at risk. The problem could not be reproduced - the vehicle was severely damaged and undrivable. The manufacturer (Volvo) refused to inspect it. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms. Unsure if this is relevant, but the vehicle recently (less than 1 week ago) received an over-the-air (OTA) update to software version 5.0.5.

All of the audio warnings in the car suddenly stop working without any associated warning. On certain occasions (once every couple of months, unpredictably) the car's audio completely stops working. This includes any of the safety warnings such as the parking collision or rear cross traffic warnings. The audio starts working again after resetting the infotainment system by holding down the "Home" button for 30 seconds. The service department at the dealership appeared to be very familiar with this issue but did not have any proposed fixes.

I was backing up out of my driveway and the camera was not available, nor did the sensor work while I was backing up. I hit a parked car as a result of this, resulting in damage to the back of my car. This has happened before, but never resulted in an accident until this time.

BACK OVER PREVENTION: REARVIEW SYSTEM BRAKING
The sound system of the vehicle failed. No alerts for cross path detection, no parking alerts, no Bluetooth calling, no gps guidance, no turn signal sound, no ability to call through the sos feature, and no radio. There is no value to the safety features because there is no audible alert for anything. The when you select radio after listening to Bluetooth audio it glitches and turns back to the prior audio source 5-7 times prior to allowing you to stay on the selected source (again no sound so less important of an issue). In addition, the park button doesn’t always work. There are times that I need to press it 3-5 times to put the car in park. The ability to be hands free and use the Bluetooth and navigation functions is non existent. The sarasota Volvo dealer walked me through trying to reset the system over the phone but it didn’t work. We have an appointment scheduled in two days to look at the car. No warning signs or alerts came up.
