Common problem amongst Can Am Ryker riders. When making a sweeping left turn between 20-40 mph, the right front wheel will brake/accelerate on it's own and the bike will jerk. It also causes the right wheel to wobble forcing me to accelerate or decelerate to retain control of the bike. I quick google search produced hundreds of other riders experiencing the same issue and that BRP/Can Am does not have a permanent fix for this issue. I love riding my Ryker, but have avoided it for anything more than a couple mile ride to the store for fear of losing control or being rear ended when it decelerates on it's own. Please investigate.

Vehicle developed right wheel wobble on left turns over 90 degrees, when speed is ~40 mph or above. Unable to safely make turn, at speed. 3 trips to dealership, issue persists. Vehicle threw a “VSS fault” and went into “limp mode” preventing me from driving over 40mph - was in the mountains, 60 miles from home. Serious safety issue, feel unsafe on the vehicle, no longer willing to ride.

The contact owns a 2020 Can-Am Ryker. The contact stated that while making left turns at approximately 25 MPH, the rear wheel vibrated abnormally. There was no warning light illuminated. On left hand turns only never right turns, if you are going over 30 mph the ABS/Stability controls turns on and make the wheels wobble and slows it down in the turn. This abrupt slow down cause vehicles behind me to slam on breaks because there is no brake lights warning them of the slow down. I took it to a shop and after a month in the shop, they replaced the yaw rate sensor which did not fix the issue. I have put the bike in the garage for a month now because it is too dangerous to drive until this issue is solved.

I reached out to dealer ship and manufacture of my unit, explain to them that my unit has a serious wobble and shuddering skip while making turns in curves. I feel like it about to throw from the unit when it does this. I was told it was a yaw sensors. They would then tell me my bike is fine but it an ongoing issue that they refuse to look into

I was driving on the interstate at 65 mph. I felt a bump and realized my right front wheel had fallen off and I was riding on the rotor. I applied brake lightly to come to a stop and noticed the only thing holding the rotor on was the brake pads. If I had not applied the brakes, the rotor would have fallen off, the axle would have dug into the pavement and possibly flipped the bike. I was not able to locate the wheel. The bike is at a dealership and have received a quote for repair. My insurance adjuster will look at it in a couple days. I noticed no warning signs, no shaking of the handle bars, no message from the bike prior to the incident.

Less than one month old, not even 200 miles,had a VSS fault. Took to dealer they said it was a steering issue and fixed, so they said. Less than a month again same issue VSS fault steering Yaw sensor. Rook to dealer again they had bike about a month to fix and replaced many parts and no issue since, however this issue happens when making hard/deep left turns, now I have learned that. So when I ride I take it easy on these turns and cornering.

On sweeping left turns the rear tire shudders and skips across the road. Dealership reset YAW rate sensor and adjusted front steering rack. This corrected the issue for a day. The online forums for Can Am Rykers show numerous complaints about this specific issue but dealerships and Can Am state there is no issue and don't have a long term correction for the issue. It seems that the YAW rate sensor is triggered due to loose front end steering components. The technical service bulletin provided to dealers is Ryker YAW rate -SAS Sensor Faults 137209. The bike is unsafe and Can Am knows about the issue but will not issue a recall.

The VSS Vehicle stability system on the right tire goes on at speeds of 30 MPH or more while making a sweeping left hand turn. Like on a canyon, highway or street. This causes the vehicle to apply brake pressure only to the the right tire and then pulls the vehicle further to the right side while makeing a left turn. This can cause you to drift uncontrollably into the right hand lane, or into a gaurd rail or into another moving vehicle. This has happened numerous times. This is also related the the back tire getting very wobbly at the same time and causes the Ryker to fishtail out of nowhere. I contacted BRP and they told.me they only had 10 or so complaints about this in their system and therefore no Recall. This seems impossible because as you will see from my photos there are many owners with documented proof and something that lots of Can-Am Ryker owners are complaining about. Sometimes the vehicle will shut down and go into limp mode while in motion because of it. There seems to be a TSB bulletin for a pitman arm fix out to the dealerships. However it's not a mandatory recall and if you are out of warranty (which is currently only 12 months) you are forced to pay for it yourself. The other fix is to reset the sensors, but from what I'm seeing it is only a temporary fix of maybe 4 days tops before the issue starts happening again. I'm worried for all Cn-Am Ryker owners, and wish BRP would issue a fix for this very dangerous issue.

UPON INSPECTION, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THE LUG NUT HOLDING THE WHEEL WAS BARELY TIGHTENED AND COULD BE LOOSENED BY HAND. DESPITE THE NUT BEING TIGHTENED AFTER THE INITIAL FAILURE, THE FAILURE PERSISTED SHORTLY AFTER. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TRANSPORTED TO HIS RESIDENCE. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 350.

I WASN'T REALLY ALARMED BUT PARKED IT IN MY GARAGE, AND WOUND UP NOT RIDING IT FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS. THE FOLLOWING WEDNESDAY (10/02/19), I LOADED UP MY SADDLEBAG AND PERFORMED A PRE-CHECK JUST BEFORE I WAS HEADED OUT FOR A RIDE, AND NOTICED THAT THE SCRATCH HAD TURNED INTO A LARGE CRACK THAT WENT THROUGH THE WHOLE WHEEL NUT! IT WAS REALLY STRANGE BECAUSE I HADN'T RIDDEN IN A FEW DAYS SO I WASN'T SURE HOW THAT COULD'VE HAPPENED. NEEDLESS TO SAY, MY RIDING DAYS HAVE BEEN HALTED.
