!!Vehicle Safety Complaint!! I am experiencing a serious safety issue with my 2016 Chevrolet Colorado involving the power steering system. On a regular basis, I receive dashboard warnings including "StabiliTrak Not Working," and "Service Power Steering." Shortly after these warnings appear, the power steering fails while I am driving. When this occurs, I must use significant force to turn the steering wheel in order to maintain control of the vehicle and make turns. When I pull over, turn off engine, open my driver door and restart the engine, it appears to have resolved and works fine. This creates an extremely dangerous driving condition. I am concerned that one day I may not be able to turn quickly or forcefully enough to avoid an accident, potentially resulting in a collision, injury, or death. I always have my children in the vehicle with me. NHTSA please investigate and fix this issue!

**Vehicle Safety Complaint** I am experiencing a serious safety issue with my 2016 Chevrolet vehicle involving the power steering system. On a somewhat regular basis, I receive dashboard warnings including "StabiliTrak Not Working," and "Service Power Steering." Shortly after these warnings appear, the power steering fails while I am driving. When this occurs, I must use significant force to turn the steering wheel in order to maintain control of the vehicle and make turns. When I pull over, turn off engine and wait a few minutes, the restart the engine, it  appears to be resolved and works fine. This creates an extremely dangerous driving condition. I am concerned that I may not be able to turn quickly or forcefully enough to avoid an accident, potentially resulting in a collision, injury, or death. I am aware that certain 2015 model year vehicles were recalled for similar power steering issues. However, despite experiencing what appears to be the same defect in my 2016 vehicle, no recall has been issued. The issue remains uncorrected and continues to pose a significant safety risk. GM Customer Care (1-800-462-8782) states I am not eligible for any cost assistance because it is a 2016 model and not 2015. Given the serious safety implications of sudden power steering loss while driving, I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue and determine whether a recall is warranted for affected 2016 vehicles. The sudden loss of power steering while the vehicle is in motion presents a substantial safety hazard and should be addressed before it leads to serious accidents or injuries.

Engine fails it violenty thumps and studders and drops from highway speed with no warning. This is a mfg. defect and also an EXTREME SAFETY CONCERN. The engine studders and thumps and we were almost rear ended by a truck when our truck could not go into gear properly. It is very scary! Dealership confirmed that they have many vehicles with same issue and recommended a Super Flush of transmission but not sure this will correct problem or cause more problems. There is no warning when these incidents occur and the driver has no control to avoid it. It is commonly referred to as the Chevy thump and studder and a known mfg defect in which GM refuses to pay for repairs causing consumers an extreme hardship! This is an ongoing issue affecting thousands of vehicles and someone is going to die! There is no negligence of operator of vehicle, it is a manufacturing defect that affects thousands of GM vehicles and they are doing NOTHING about it except expecting customers to keep incurring cost to try to remedy a repair at our own expense which is unfair! The government needs to force a recall at GM's expense!

The turn signal system intermittently malfunctions. When using the turn signal, the auto-cancel function sometimes activates the opposite signal, and at times the stalk does not stay engaged when attempting to signal. This creates a safety risk because surrounding drivers may receive the wrong turning/lane-change indication or no indication at all. The issue has occurred intermittently while driving and has been presented to Cox Chevrolet in Bradenton, Florida multiple times. Cox Chevrolet has verified turn-signal over-cancel and performed prior repairs/programming. However, the issue has not been entirely resolved and continues to occur intermittently. No crash or injury has occurred, but the condition creates a risk of collision during turns, merges, and lane changes

My dog and I were headed to Home Depot on [XXX] when without any warning there was a very loud boom. My first thought was that we had been shot at. Once I gathered myself I realized the sunnroof glass had exploded. I rarely open the sunroof but do on occasion have the shade open, luckily it wasn’t open or my dog and I would have been sprayed with the glass which could have caused serious eye injury and potentially a crash. I’ve had 2 Chevy dealers tell me that is not a warranty issue that it was likely caused by a rock being thrown up. I do not believe this was the case. The closest vehicle was some 500 feet in front of us. Because it was such a violent explosion I believe it was a pressure explosion. I am also very surprised that the glass is tempered and not laminated. I have insurance so I’m not concerned with getting it repaired. I just want you to know I think it a very serious issue. The my link infotainment system has been changing screens and channels and bouncing around on its own and is so distracting that it almost made me have an accident. It also makes calls drop while using handsfree. This problem has been taken to the dealer and they replaced the whole screen/system in 2021 for $805 but it is happening again. There is a lot of comments on the web and I have tried everything I could find online to reset, but nothing works. This is a common problem with chevy infotainment systems that could cause accident by distracting drivers. Chevy has to know how to fix this without having to replace every time. Chevy is no help they just refer you to the dealer who just wants to replace for 1K.

Check engine light came on and the dealership said it was because the coolant was low due to the radiator hose leaking. I was told by the actual mechanic that they’ve had to do a lot of radiator hoses and that it is a known defect with the Colorados and the traverses but that GM hasn’t done a recall on them yet. That is what brings me here. My truck is only 2 years old and this shouldn’t be happening right now. Thank you for taking the time to review this and I hope GM addresses the matter promptly.

I purchased my truck from Karl Chevrolet in Ankeny, IA around September of 2019. Approximately 1.5 years after purchasing the vehicle, I began having issues with my infotainment system intermittently resetting itself while I was driving. On or about the end of 2021 (after this had occurred a few time), I brought the truck into the Karl Chevrolet in Ankeny, IA, as it seemed to become more frequent of an occurrence. The technician told me that this thing happens all the time with the infotainment systems and it was nothing to be concerned about and because it was intermittent, they may not be able to identify the issue unless it was actively occurring and I was told to come back in if it continued to happen. Shortly after, I had moved to [XXX] in April of 2022, I began to have more frequent issues with the infotainment system randomly resetting and eventually it began impacting phone calls, where people would cut in and out or disconnect, beginning to cause even more of a safety and distraction issue. After conducting some of my own research, I learned that I was not the only one that had issues with the infotainment system in the 2019 Colorado and that GM had published several Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) regarding the infotainment system, and there had been a class action lawsuit, [XXX] , et al. v. General Motors LLC, that covers the same issues I am having. On January 29, 2025, after the issue progressively getting worse, I took the truck to Gregg Young Chevrolet in Omaha, NE. After conducting a diagnosis they verbally confirmed there were TSBs regarding radio issues that after contacting the GM service center, GM's response was to replace the radio. This was to be at my own cost however, considering GM confirmed through TSBs there are issues with the infotainment system, coupled with safety concerns around distracted driving, I felt compelled to make this complaint. The upper radiator hose on some huge percentage of these trucks fail (mine has failed at just over 35k miles). You can check the Colorado Chevy forum, youtube, etc., et al, and find plenty of instances where this has failed. As this is the cooling system, it can cause the engine to overheat and potentially ruin the engine. The flaw seems to be an engineering issue with the rubber seal they use (instead of a high quality o-ring) to seal the upper hose to the radiator. Additionally, since this can cause engine failure it should be addressed immediately. Instead, my local Chevy dealer, since its not a recall item, said they could schedule a time next week for me to LEAVE the truck and then they would get to it in 7-10 days. This is extremely unfair to the consumer who depends on these vehicles. This should absolutely be a recall item. You can find 1000's of examples online and if you can pull GM repair data, I'm sure you'll find 1000's more.

Faulty Radiator Inlet Hose, upper radiator hose failure, outlined in PIT6494A. This is the third time that the light on the dashboard has come on for failure, the first time they "Fixed it" the second time they said it was the Battery, it was NOT!! This time they are saying what it really is, The Radiator Hose FAILURE, since the vehicle is only 3 years old but over the 36k mile WARRANTY, they will NOT fix! failure on their part.

2021 CPO Colorado, bought used with 27,000 miles. KEY STUCK IN IGNITION. After 9 months of occasional use the key is, more times than not, getting stuck in the ignition when the truck is turned off. You cannot leave it this way because some systems are still energized. You have to repeatedly put it in and out of park till the key comes out. An associated problem is lock/unlock. The fob and switches will not operate the lock unlock function. It is suspected the park problem makes the vehicle think the vehicle is being operated. It will also not let the remote start function work either. The dealer cleared a code and the problem is temporarily solved. They will not cover it under CPO because they cannot duplicate the problem despite the lock unlock not working at their facility. They ordered a new Gear Shift Mechanism for $800 and I am waiting for it to come in. It has been a few weeks of waiting thus far. It is theoretically possible to have the key get stuck and the doors staying locked thereby trapping all the occupants in the truck. I now carry the spare key if I must use the truck. I can turn the truck back on, lower the window, turn the key till it gets stuck, unlock the door by leaning out the window and then escaping but all the other occupants are still stuck inside till you can get the key out.

I have a 2024 Chevy Colorado Trail Boss that needs an Upper Radiator Coolant Hose. But apparently this is on nationwide backorder because although there is not a recall GM put a bulletin out they are aware of the issue that appears to be a degraded seal inside hose fitting so the whole hose needs replacing. I live in [XXX] and it is not available here and I have called OH, [XXX] , [XXX] and other state dealerships and Noone will sell that part because of the backorder. My truck has 40k miles. And every dealer I called this is a huge issue with these trucks. So it is not a wear issue when it is on nationwide backorder and it'll take 1-2 weeks +/- to get. My warranty won't cover as they say it is a wear part and no recall. So how can there be no recall on a nationwide issue with these trucks. My truck cant be driven right now due to check engine light, low coolant, leaking hose, fan blowing high, no heat and this is all related to this backordered part. Someone told me to report this issue so that is what I am doing now. Again this should be an active recall.
