I own a 2024 Chevrolet Corvette with approximately 17,748 miles. The vehicle developed a significant vibration/ride-quality issue and was inspected by an authorized Chevrolet dealer. The dealer determined that all four factory wheels were bent/deformed and recommended replacement of the wheels and tires. The estimated repair cost was approximately $6,251.28. I am not aware of any collision, pothole strike, curb impact, or other event that would explain damage to all four wheels. Photographs of the wheels do not show obvious impact damage. The dealer nevertheless determined that all four wheels were bent. A technician also documented the condition in a video and specifically identified the wheels as bent. I contacted Chevrolet Customer Care and requested warranty assistance under the vehicle's Bumper-to-Bumper Limited Warranty, which remains in effect. Chevrolet declined to cover the replacement. Instead, I was offered the option to purchase replacement wheels, with a 24-month warranty and replacement if a subsequent problem occurs without visible damage. I am submitting this complaint because I am concerned about the durability and structural integrity of the factory wheels. Multiple wheels on a relatively low-mileage Corvette becoming bent without a known impact event raises a potential safety concern. A deformed wheel can cause vibration, affect tire performance, and potentially impact vehicle handling. I request that NHTSA review whether there is a pattern of bent, deformed, cracked, or otherwise compromised factory wheels on C8 Chevrolet Corvettes, particularly where owners report no identifiable impact event. I can provide photographs, the dealer's inspection/repair documentation, technician video, repair estimate, and Chevrolet Customer Care correspondence supporting this complaint.

At 23000 miles the right rear wheel cracked. I have a 2023 Corvette stingray HTC with the 20" wheels. The option code for this original GM wheel is Q8Q, "20" rear carbon flash painted aluminum wheels with machined edge". This is a common problem and has been reported by many corvette owners on several corvette forums. I do not track my car and have new tires. GM again ignores this safety item. I had the problem on my C7 and again on my C8. I did complete the GM refund paperwork for my C7 cracked rear rims, however, GM never did any refunds or tried to correct this safety issue.

Multiple Wheels (9) have been replaced and multiple tires. Have had to repair each of these wheels upwards of 20+ times and it’s not allowed legally after 3 cracks per wheel. Safety issue as tires would blow out or go flat in short time. Yes, been inspected multiple times by dealers, GM and told not covered under any warranty. One incident, GM agreed to replace the 2 rear wheels at 50% retail!

Cracked (chrome) wheels on 2017 Corvette Grand Sport at 30228 miles. The tire icon appeared on the driver information display. Passenger side rear tire. After inflating the tire I took it to my dealer, Jorns Chevrolet where I purchased it brand new. Jorns is a leading Corvette dealer in Wisconsin. The dealer actually had a set of after market replacement wheels on display in the showroom. The technician removed the wheel and pointed out a large crack causing the slow leak. Not wanting to pay an exorbitant amount for one wheel and gamble on the other three I decided to replace all four with forged aftermarket wheels. Now, the technician discovered a crack in the driver side rear wheel also. Jorns explained that they have replaced wheels, with similar problems, on forty other Corvettes! Appealing to GM was a futile waste of time. GM skillfully crafted a policy to claim any sort of compensation virtually impossible. Initial contact requires the owner to deal with some appointed law firm and comply with their front line screening. IF you succeed with that, mountains of documentation are required. Very disappointing considering, the frequency of failures and owners history with a known problem with a premium brand model.

Well known and documented failure of 2015-2019 Corvette ZO6 and Grand Sport wheels cracking prematurely due to poor manufacturing process. General Motors/Chevrolet has already publicly admitted liability to avoid court cases already filed. They agreed to offer extended warranty to owners of affected vehicles in 2024, offering full replacement cost of defective wheels. They assigned a company, Analytics Consulting LLC of [XXX] , to administer the claim process. I received my claim form in July of 2024. I filled out and supplied all required documentation on August 20, 2024, they later acknowledged receipt August 22, 2024. All claim forms were required to be sent by January 25, 2025. They informed me by phone call that they would not begin processing claims until March 1, 2025. All through the Summer of 2025, after several phone calls, that no information would be released as to the completion of processed claims until all claims had been completed. No time line given or offered. To date there has been no other information or updates on when the claims will be paid. I have filed a claim with the State of Georgia Attorney Generals office, they were unable to help. I have gone to the local ABC news station where they did a story on the issue, no resolution. This is a national issue for all owners of the affected vehicles. There have been many articles and videos published regarding the issue. From the day the vehicle was delivered, all four tires were losing air daily. No disclosure of punctures or defects was made by the dealership. After one week, a tire went flat and I purchased new replacement tires. Multiple shops, including Costco, refused to install the tires because they did not have equipment capable of working with carbon fiber wheels. A specialized exotic-car shop (Enzo Auto Center) attempted the installation. During the process, one of the carbon fiber wheels spontaneously ruptured/exploded, causing multiple fractures to the technician’s hand and arm. He required emergency medical treatment. After the incident, even an authorized Chevrolet dealership was unable to mount the tires, indicating a possible manufacturing or structural defect in the wheel assembly. The vehicle has now been inoperable for more than 2 months, and the dealership has not provided a resolution. This is a severe safety hazard, involving: catastrophic wheel failure, structural integrity concerns, risk of further injuries, and total loss of vehicle usability. An immediate investigation is requested.

When having the stock tires changed to all-season tires, the technician found a rear wheel with 2 cracks in the inside bead area. Car had about 8500 miles and an inspection of the old tires showed no damage to the tread or sidewall. No leaking had been noted.

Two of the wheels of my 2019 Corvette have cracked. GMC has turned this issue over to Analytics Consulting LLC to reimburse those owners that have had a problem with cracked wheels. I submitted a claim for one of the wheels, in July of 2025 and have yet to hear from them. In the mean time I had another wheel crack but I can not claim that one because it's beyond the date they set. I contacted GMC and their response was they couldn't do anything for me. My point in this whole matter is that I've had two wheels crack but I still have two that might crack. GMC admits to defective wheels and yet there was never a recall. They are playing Russian roulette with Corvette wheels that are on the road daily. I've had costly repair bills for wheels that were defective when GMC put them on my car. These wheels could crack at any point while I'm driving or God forbid when my wife is driving. She doesn't want to ride in the car anymore because she feels it's unsafe. I can't sell it because I would have to affirm that these wheels might crack. Who would buy my car? The value of my dream car has plummeted. I'd like reimbursed for the two I've already paid for and all four wheels replaced with wheels that have been tested and new ones that are proven to be safe. Is it too much to ask GMC to build safe cars? They say it is important to them that the customer satisfaction and safety is utmost. I'm asking them to live up to that so I need your help to see that they do.

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Corvette. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, there was a slow leak in the passenger’s side rear wheel. The contact stated that air was added two to three days later, and the tire warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred for two weeks. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer, and four new tires were ordered. While installing the tires, the mechanic became aware that two rear rims were cracked. The contact stated that one rear rim had two cracks, and the other rear rim had three cracks. The dealer had not recommended repairing the rims. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but was unable to help because the contact had missed the deadline to have the cracked rims repaired by January 01, 2025. The failure mileage was approximately 14,500.

Noticed one wheel kept leaking down slowly. After a couple of weeks of filling the air in the tires, it was down near the warning pressure again on one rear wheel. Decided to remove the wheel to inspect the cause of the leak. Upon removal of the wheel, there were two noticeable cracks on the inner bead diameter of the wheel. I know this has been a big issue for all the C7 GS corvettes, because this is my 4th C7 GS with the same issue. All my previous C7 GS have had all the factory rear wheels to crack. I don't understand why there has not been a recall since every C7 GS I've owned had this same issue on all the rear wheels. I typically do my own repairs unless they are covered under warrant. I have worked on automobiles for over 35 years in my personal garage and it has become an expectation that any C7 GS or Z06 with a rear tire leaking is caused by a cracked wheel. Have contacted Rick Hendrick City Chevrolet in Charlotte NC about the cracked wheel before deciding repair method that will be taken.

Cracks found on 3 of 4 wheels when the wheels were off for cleaning. Cracks are on 2 front wheels and 1 rear. Cracks are located on the inner edge of the barrel, and extend up the edge, then about 0.5 to 1.0in toward the centerline of the wheel. Further cracking could cause loss of air pressure.

It has been well documented that the oem wheels on this model and the Z06 of similar years are of poor quality and crack under normal road use, posing a serious safety hazard. What I learned today, that I was not previously aware of, is that they crack on the inside lip, often extending into the barrel of the wheel. A crack in this location is virtually impossible to detect, especially on black wheels like mine and even though I have my own 2 post lift and routinely inspect the vehicle, I was not aware of 3 cracks in my 2 rear wheel that were discovered at Ciocca, Chevrolet in AC today during a routine alignment with road force balancing at my request. I have attached an invoice to replace both rear wheels that was provided by the dealer. The problem is that GM never addressed this issue with a forged wheel upgrade. The extra wheel width on the Grand Sport and Z06 clearly require a forged wheel to prevent routine cracking under normal use. Oem wheels are cast. As a long time GM buyer with 2 current GM vehicles (corvette and suburban), and 2 past GM vehicles (corvette and tahoe), I expected at least a conversation regarding a sensible next step in making my care usable and capable on road. Instead I was told that there were no open recalls and that there was nothing to be done. GM has built a 200mph capable vehicle, advertised as a track ready, that can't even drive down normal roads, without cracking it's wheels. This poses an extreme safety risk to everyone on the road. The fact that GM is not offering to replace all wheels on affected vehicles is gross negligence.

I replaced the battery in my C8 Corvette after three years of ownership. Upon removing the plastic cover from the frunk to access the battery, I discovered the two front strut mounts. To my dismay, I noticed excessive corrosion on both strut mounts, with the left side near an AC compressor line being considerably worse. I immediately took the car to the dealership, where they took pictures and agreed it was a design defect. They submitted a warranty claim to GM, which was denied multiple times. Despite having purchased an extended warranty when I bought the car, which still shows corrosion coverage until 2026 and over 100,000 miles, both the dealership and GM refused to repair my car. I explained that if my garage-kept car, which was never driven in the rain, had such severe corrosion at only 13,703 miles, one could only imagine the condition of a daily driver with the same defect. I then began noticing videos on YouTube exposing the problem and selling aftermarket strut covers (not OEM or from a dealership). This issue poses a significant safety hazard, as a strut could eventually fail due to corrosion. At high speeds of 70 mph on the interstate, this failure could potentially endanger the driver, passengers, and other motorists. However, the dealership and GM Customer Service continue to insist that it is a maintenance issue, despite it clearly being a design flaw. I voiced my concerns about the safety implications, but they offered no explanation or comment other than reiterating that it's a maintenance issue. I warned them that when someone dies as a result of this problem, they will eventually have to pay for the strut mounts and face additional lawsuits. They informed me that the conversation was being recorded, and I hope someone with authority will listen to it. Overview: Beginning sometime in 2020, the coating of the rearview inside mirror began to degrade and lose its reflective capability. By [XXX] visibility through the mirror was so bad that I had to have it replaced by the local Chevy dealership. Because it was out of warranty, I had to pay $453.93 out of pocket. The vehicle was unsafe to drive due to the mirror's degraded condition. 1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Rearview interior mirror 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? I could not see clearly in the rearview mirror. 3. Overview - November 2022, my 2016 Covette Stingray vibrated badly at highway speeds, that I took it into the Sunrise Chevrolet Buick GMC dealership in Collierville, TN to investigate the cause. They made videos showing 3 of the 4 wheels (not tires) were warped. This is my second car (rarely driven), so I was quite surprised. Chevy was out of stock and the vehicle was out of warranty, so I had to replace all 4 wheels using after-market parts that had to be shipped to the dealership at total cost of $3,400.58. A few weeks after the wheels were replaced, I noticed the vibration was still occurring at highway speeds, so I returned it to the same dealership on Jan 3rd, 2023. The dealership said that the transmission fluid had to be replaced with a "new design" to prevent the shaking at my expense for a total of $1,066.10. The problem is so well-known, that it's called the "Chevy Shake" on the Corvette forum. I feel that Chevrolet has put my safety at risk twice in 2022 with a faulty mirror (I files a separate complaint for that), the faulty tires, and the faulty transmission fluid.

Front wheels are defective confirmed by certified GM dealership which causes unsafe operation of vehicle. Even though wheels are in pristine condition GM will not cover replacement wheels under their warranty. I spoke with GM about the service bulletins they put out regarding the 2020&2021 castings issues with those wheels causing the same complaints however GM still won’t cover their apparent manufacturer’s issues with faulty wheel castings. Installing replacement OEM wheels from GM still will cause a significant safety issue with the vehicles irregular wear if tires and steering issues with these oblong wheels. No warning system notifications were prompted by the vehicle just a significant front end vibration also verified by GM corvette technician. Technician video taped wheels on a wheel balancing machine where it is visually apparent they are oblong. Purchasing aftermarket forged wheels that come with a full warranty instead of using the OEM GM wheels which are still clearly defective and will cause safety issues to include a possible loss of life with this issue they won’t even look into or take responsibility. Also rear brakes made a thumping noise after washing vehicle and parking it with the emergency brake set. Vehicle was looked at by corvette technician in conjunction with above stated wheel issue. GM corrected issue by tech driving vehicle for unspecified amount of time and called it repaired under their guidelines. No replacement of rotor, brake pads, calipers or any other part associated with this issue stated by customer service representative. I was told to not use the emergency brake or problem could arise again. I insisted that there is an issue with the braking system and wanted replacement parts installed under the manufacturers warranty but was denied and told No issue exists. EBrake is provided on vehicles as a safety mechanism and there is a significant problem with this system on this vehicle that GM won’t take responsibility!

There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer for routine maintenance, and it was determined that the rear wheels were cracked. The wheels were replaced. The manufacturer was contacted, and it was confirmed that there was no warranty coverage on the vehicle for the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 34,000.
