EVERYTIME IT RAINS REALLY HARD, MY DRIVERS SIDE B PILLAR WHERE THE HANDLE AND SEAT BELT IS, IS SOAK AND WET FROM A LEAK. THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. I HAVE HAD MY SUNROOF CHECKED, MY WINDSHIELD CHECKED AND DRAIN TUBES CHECKED. THERE IS NEVER ANY WATER OR WETNESS ON THE FLOOR, ITS ONLY THE HEADLINER. THIS HAS BEEN AN ON-GOING ISSUE. I HAVE BEEN INVESTIGATING IF THERE ARE OTHER TAHOES DOING THE SAME AND YES THERE ARE AND 1 HAD WENT TO A BODY SHOP AND THEY FOUND OUT THAT THE MANUFACTURER WELDS WERE NOT WELDED CORRECTLY, WHICH CAUSES WATER TO GET INTO THE ROOF. THIS CAN CAUSE MOLD AND EVENTUALLY OTHER ISSUES. IT HAS STAINED MY HEADLINER. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS BECAUSE I CANNOT AFFORD TO HAVE A BODY SHOP FIX THIS KIND OF REPAIR AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO FOR AS MUCH MONEY AS I HAVE PAID FOR THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE VERY YOUNG GRANDKIDS THAT RIDE IN THIS VEHICLE AND ONE HAS VERY BAD ALLERGIES AGAINST MOLD. AND IT IS NOT FAIR THAT I EVENTUALLY WILL HAVE TO GET THIS FIXED BECAUSE IT WILL ALSO CAUSE RUST. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS.

The clear coat has completely failed on mainly the hood and roof of the entire vehicle. Each of the sides have lost a good amount of shine too but there hood and roof are a compete different color compared to the rest of the Tahoe. The paint is the pewter/grey so it is extremely noticeable and very much an eyesore.

2024 Chevrolet Tahoe Staten Island, NY

I am reporting a serious safety concern involving a 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe with approximately 23,000 miles.I have a video recording of it . While the vehicle was being driven, water suddenly began actively dripping from the rear cabin light/headliner area into the interior of the vehicle. There were children inside the vehicle at the time, including a child seated directly underneath the area where the water was dripping near the child seat. A significant amount of water is entering the vehicle and continues dripping throughout the interior cabin area. The water appears to be coming from the upper rear cabin/light area and may have entered the electrical system or interior electronic components of the vehicle. I am extremely concerned about potential electrical hazards, safety risks, corrosion, and malfunction of electronic systems caused by water intrusion inside the vehicle. This vehicle has relatively low mileage for its age and has not been modified. The condition appears to involve a possible manufacturing, sealing, or drainage defect. Because children are transported in this vehicle daily, I believe this issue presents a serious potential safety concern and should be formally investigated. The factory-applied clearcoat on my 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe is failing and delaminating. The clearcoat is peeling away from the base coat in sheets, exposing the underlying paint to the elements. This deterioration occurred without any external damage, collision repair, or environmental abuse. The vehicle has 76,000 miles and has been regularly washed and maintained throughout ownership. The affected areas include roof and door panels. The failure began as clouding and hazing of the clearcoat and has progressed to active peeling and flaking. This issue appears to be a widespread manufacturing defect. Multiple class action lawsuits have been filed against General Motors alleging defective paint and clearcoat application on 2015–2020 full-size SUVs produced at the Arlington Assembly Plant [XXX] et al. v. General Motors LLC, Case No. [XXX], and [XXX] et al. v. General Motors LLC). Thousands of owners of Tahoes, Suburbans, Yukons, and Escalades from these model years have reported identical clearcoat failure. The alleged root cause is improper bonding between the clearcoat and base coat during the factory paint process. Repair estimates for a full repaint range from $3,600 to over $10,000. General Motors has not issued a recall or technical service bulletin to address this known defect. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this matter and compel General Motors to issue a recall covering the cost of repair for all affected vehicles. I am submitting this complaint to report a potential vehicle safety defect involving the factory-installed running boards on a 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe. The running boards become extremely slippery during light snow or minimal winter precipitation, creating a significant risk of slipping while entering or exiting the vehicle. This occurs during normal use and does not require heavy snow or ice. I have experienced multiple near-falls despite stepping carefully, and the condition is repeatable. Given that the Chevrolet Tahoe is commonly used as a family vehicle and may be accessed by children, elderly individuals, or passengers with limited mobility, I am concerned that the running boards present an unreasonable slip hazard under common winter driving conditions. At this time, no injury has occurred; however, the frequency and severity of the slipping raises concern for potential injury if the issue is not addressed. The running boards are factory-installed and have not been modified. I am requesting that NHTSA review this issue to determine whether the design or materials of the factory running boards meet reasonable safety standards for normal winter conditions. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, [XXX] Vehicle: 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe Component: Exterior – Running Boards INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I have a 2017 Chevy Tahoe Z71, and the paint on the hood , now moving to the top of the Tahoe is showing visible defects. The hood paint started to look cloudy. Even after buffing and polishing it would not improve. Talk to a professional detailer who stated that the problem was with the clear coat. The cost to repair and repaint the vehicle would be way more than an average citizen can afford; especially this day in time. People have mentioned it may require sanding the exterior down to bare metal, which would affect the car’s resale value etc ..After doing some research , I do see this is a problem with many GM vehicles. What is GM doing to make this correction. Pics can be sent upon request. Looking to seek a lawyer.

STRUCTURE:BODY:DOOR:HANDLE:INTERIOR

The drivers side door handle has broken on my Tahoe. In the event of having to urgently egress from my vehicle it would be very difficult to do so because of the handle. Now before you think I'm just a disgruntled owner you should look at the rate of occurrence. I've checked online nationally and locally with used auto part sellers and there are none to be found. If a Tahoe comes in that actually does have one intact every auto yard has a waiting list of buyers and the part is immediately gone. Shouldn't the high rate of failure of trigger at least questions from the NHTSA. I did not mention the passenger door but since it is of the same construction it would fail too if under the same use I feel. My claim is easy enough to substantiate, place a call to any used car part dealer of your choice and search for the driver's side door interior. If you do find one available, call that dealer and you'll find that it's already gone. Then ask the person on the phone about how many people they get calling for that same part. I've been searching for over a year for this one part. This complaint isn't made because I'm angry, I've simply just finally paid attention to the fact that this is a high failure part and should be investigated.

The contact's brother owns a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the message "Reduced Engine Power" was displayed. Additionally, the vehicle decelerated to 20 MPH. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road. The contact stated that he turned on the hazards lights and continued driving 20 MPH. The contact stated that upon arriving to his residence, he connected an OBD reader to the vehicle and read diagnostic code P2138, which indicated an accelerator pedal sensor failure. The contact stated that he replaced the part himself; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that there was water leaking inside the vehicle from the roof antenna mounting point, which caused the driver's side fuse box to rust, causing electrical failures. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.
