EXTERIOR LIGHTING

Similar to the Ford recall, the LED Daytime Running Light Module is defective. This LED went out in under 3 years and Chrysler won’t fix it. This is a problem that many people are experiencing, and they want $2,000 to replace the entire head lamp system.

2020 Chrysler Pacifica San Angelo, TX

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

The vehicle is unsafe to operate and presents an immediate highway safety risk. Shortly after purchase, the vehicle experienced multiple safety-related failures. Headlights were inoperable from the time of delivery, requiring use of high beams at night to see the roadway. This created visibility and traffic safety issues from day one. Within the first month of ownership, the vehicle required towing. The vehicle is a hybrid and could not be shifted into neutral, yet it was dragged with the wheels locked during towing rather than transported on a flatbed. This caused damage to multiple systems. Following the tow, all four tires developed visible bulges consistent with being dragged while immobilized, creating a significant risk of tire blowout at highway speeds. Steering and alignment became unstable, with grinding noises and loss of predictable control. The hybrid underbody shielding was also damaged, leaving components exposed. These conditions have persisted despite repeated notice to the seller and service administrator. A repair facility has confirmed the vehicle is not safe for long-distance or highway travel. The vehicle must regularly be driven at interstate speeds, and continued operation poses a serious risk of crash or injury. The vehicle remains in service only due to lack of alternatives, despite known safety defects affecting steering, lighting, and tires.

We have a continuing issue with the Pacifica of showing a dashboard warning of "STOP SAFELY VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF SOON''. The power becomes diminished and with a few minutes, all power is lost, including lights, engine, all dash warnings are gone. After sitting on the side of the road for a few minutes, the vehicle will restart like nothing happened. Occurrences shown in order by date, location and mileage. [XXX] in Gatlinburg, TN with approx 1800 miles. Dealer found error codes relating to hybrid system but could not repair for at least 4 weeks. Advised to continue trip and make an appointment when we return to Georgia. [XXX] on [XXX] enroute to Myrtle Beach the issue reoccurred [XXX] in for repairs at Chrysler 3206 miles. April 18, back to dealer same issue at 14,145 miles. Extensive repairs performed on hybrid system. April 24 with 14,303, same issue. Received vehicle back on June 20, 2025. [XXX], another occurrence with 15,645. This time the vehicle would not shut down by the FOB but would not function at all, though the dash stated put vehicle in park, but it was in park.. Ackerman Towing of Macon, GA attempted to tow vehicle, but the parking brake would not release nor would the transmission shift into neutral. After 3 hours, vehicle finally shut down and restarted. Back to Chrysler. Received vehicle back Aug 13. They could not find a problem. [XXX] enroute to VA Beach. Same issue at 17,750 miles on [XXX] outside of Lumberton, NC. Restarted after a few minutes. Continued trip. I feel this problem of shutting down is a death trap. Losing all power including outside lights could easily become catastrophic, especially if it happened after dark. Chrysler is aware and seems to be unable to find a remedy. I have more info, but out of characters to relay more. Info below relates to last occurrence INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Vehicle lost all internal communications while driving. During this incident propulsion was lost, turn signals, hazards, power brakes, power steering, all electronics except speedometer failed. I was unable to put indicators on during this incident outting others at risk. It appears hazards and turn signals are CAN communication which is absolutely insane and a severe design flaw.

There are clearly many design flaws on my 2021 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. One issue I am having with this car is the Daytime Running Lights. These are expensive LED lights that should function for the life of the vehicle. Unfortunately, I believe there is a problem with the control module on the LED lights, and part of the driver's side light does not function. This is a clear safety issue, and seems to be very common problem people are having with the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. I notified Chrysler about the issue, and because the car was just over 36 months old, they would not repair the issue. They told me I would have to pay for a complete replacement of the headlight which would cost over $1000. Just today, I noticed Ford posted a recall for the same issue they are having with their Daytime Running Lights. I believe it is only fair for Chrylser to provide a voluntary recall on this same issue because of the clear safety hazard it can creates. What is the purpose of Daytime Running Lights if they don't function properly. This is a minivan I rely on to safely transport my family, and I do not want to risk a hazardous collision because Chrysler refuses to repair a faulty part in their vehicle.

We just purchased the used 2022 Pacifica today., it was 75 miles back home. I left to get Dairy Queen; I turned left onto side road into Norton commons and an alert came up Stop safely your car will slow down soon. Very scary with a family and newb and kids and wife. Especially because cost bought it. Perhaps I should return it!

This week was the SECOND time our van lost both low beam headlights at the same time while driving at night. Both times the dealership wanted over $500 to replace them. Our drive train will catch while driving. We took our van in for this problem and were told by the dealership that "its just the way the transmission is made" When we bought the vehicle it was two years old and had rust spots on the hood. We had it repaired. Now, two years later the same rust bubbles are starting to appear on the hood.

I was stopped at a light and the car flashed all its lights and shifted me into park. After it started right back up but the check engine light came on and stayed on. It did this another two times as well and is very dangerous for me driving with my kids. prior to this issue I had to replace shutter and head gasket (Coolant leak). This car has so far cost 6K in repairs.

This vehicle like so many others have many problems with low miles! My van less than 70k mile and has a major oil leak! Chrysler will just give you the run around and you are stuck fixing it !! They know these split engine cars are junk and they left it to us consumer to fix it ! This should be a class action lawsuit because it’s way too many of us owners out here experiencing the same problems

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

The LED strip/portion of my driver-side headlight has stopped functioning. It is all inside a closed headlight unit. When starting the vehicle, the LED strip will pulse about 11 times quickly, then remain off. This has been an unsafe defect, because if I am in a lane that is for "Left Turn OR Keep Straight", a vehicle in the intersection across from me could look briefly, see my left LED strip out*, and assume I am turning left -- while in actuality I am keeping straight. This could lead to a head-on collision. *There are many newer vehicles where the LED strip temporarily turns off when that side's turn signal is flashing. Additionally, this can cause a small percentage of uneven brightness. I have not found a way to turn off the working LED Strip on the passenger side without turning ALL the headlights off. It is always on (and always uneven) whenever the vehicle is running. The cost of the repair was quoted by the dealership I bought the van at - an unavoidable $180 diagnostic fee, plus $1,300+ to replace the whole unit, with no other options given. Furthermore, the expensive, "comprehensive wrap" extended vehicle plan the Chrysler dealership sold me refuses to cover the defect. Lastly, the service technician at both Chrysler Dealerships' advise was to "just live with it". This is completely unjust and should be covered by Chrysler, as LEDs should certainly have thousands of working hours left past 5 years, let alone the short 3 years the factory warranty covers. There were no messages or warning signs before this defect was noticed, and there is no information on the defect provided by the manufacturer anywhere I have looked online or on the MOPAR website.

The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that the driver’s side headlight failed to operate as needed. The local dealer was contacted and provided an estimate for the repair. Due to the cost of the repair, the manufacturer was notified of the failure however, offered no assistance since there was no recall on the vehicle. The contact eventually took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who was unable to repair the headlight and referred him to the NHTSA for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 122,000.

THIS IS THE SECOND COMPLAINT I HAVE FILED IN 24 HOURS. I BELIEVE I AM HAVING A KNOWN PROBLEM/RECALL IN MY VEHICLE: ENGINE STALL DUE TO SOFTWARE ISSUE AN ENGINE STALL CAN INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH. NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V049000 I DROVE ABOUT 3 MILES. PARKED MY VEHICLE AND PUSHED THE BUTTON TO OPEN THE SLIDING BACK DOOR. WHEN I PUSHED THE BUTTON THE ENTIRE VEHICLE TURNED OFF INCLUDING THE ENGINE AND ALL THE LIGHTS. NOTHING ON THE DASH REMAINED LIT. I TRIED TO RESTART IT AND NOTHING HAPPENED. NO SOUNDS, CLICK OR LIGHTS APPEARED. I OPENED MY DOOR AND WAITED ABOUT A MINUTE THEN THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TURNED ON. THE SLIDING BACK DOOR HAD TO BE MANUALLY PULLED SHUT AT THIS POINT. I TRIED TO START THE VEHICLE AGAIN AND NOTHING HAPPENED. I TRIED AGAIN AND IT HESITATED, THEN STARTED. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE ABOUT 10 MILES TO WORK AFTER THAT.

SINCE PURCHASING OUR PACIFICA, WE HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT ISSUES THAT SEEM TO NOT BE GETTING RESOLVED WITH CHRYSLER BESIDES CONTINUOUSLY IN THE SHOP. WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW SO WE WOULD NOT HAVE THE HASSLE OF AN UNRELIABLE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS LEFT US STRANDED WITH LESS THAN 30,000 MILES ON IT. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE, THE BACK HATCH CAME OPEN. AFTER PULLING OVER TO FIX THIS, AS I HAD KIDS IN THE CAR, THE VEHICLE KEPT OPENING. THE DEALERSHIP EXPLAINED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL AND FIXED THE ISSUE.CHRYSLER WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO WORK WITH THROUGH THE FIRST ISSUE. THE CASE MANAGER SAID THAT I WAS EXAGGERATED OVER THE ISSUES.WE THEN HAD THE AUTOMATIC START/STOP GO OUT, THIS CAUSED OUR DISPLAY SCREEN TO FREEZE UP AS WELL TO WHERE WE COULD NOT USE OUR CONTROLS. AT THIS TIME WE AGAIN BEGIN EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH THE BACK HATCH AGAIN. UPON CONTACTING CHRYSLER A NEW CASE NUMBER WAS GIVEN AND WE WERE ONCE AGAIN SENT TO THE DEALERSHIP. SHORTLY AFTER BEING IN THE SHOP, I DROPPED MY CHILD OFF AT SOCCER PRACTICE. WHEN I RETURNED TO MY VEHICLE THE WHOLE SYSTEM SHUT DOWN AND DOORS OPENED AND WOULD NOT CLOSE ALL ELECTRICAL WAS SHUT DOWN. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED AND WAS IN SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR A WEEK. WE WERE LEFT WITH ONE VEHICLE TRYING TO HAUL OUR 5 CHILDREN AROUND WITH WORK AS WELL. RECENTLY THE 9-1-1 IS STUCK ON AND FREEZES THE DISPLAY SCREEN, ALONG WITH THE DRIVER PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR OPENING WITHOUT COMMAND OF THE BUTTON. THE VEHICLE IS SCHEDULED TO BE SERVICED....AGAIN. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE TO THE POINT WE DO NOT FEEL SAFE HAULING OUR FAMILY BUT FINANCIALLY ARE UNABLE TO TRADE IN, LEAVING US STUCK WITH A HEFTY CAR PAYMENT AND UNRELIABLE VEHICLE. WE WOULD NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE TRADING THIS CAR IN FOR ANOTHER FAMILY AS WELL.

I PURCHASED A 2017 CHRYSLER PACIFICA IN OCTOBER 2016 AND IT HAS GIVEN ME NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS EVER SINCE THEN. WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIME FOR A WIDE RANGE OF ISSUES 1. THE MAIN ISSUE WAS A HESITATION IN ACCELERATION (THIS PROBLEM IS ONGOING) EACH TIME WE TOOK IT IN THEY SAID THAT BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM THEY COULDN'T DIAGNOSE IT, BUT WHEN WE GOT IT HOME THE PROBLEM ALWAYS CAME BACK. IT JUST CONTINUED TO GET WORSE, THE WARRANTY WE PURCHASED RAN OUT AND THE VEHICLE ENDED UP GETTING TOWED MULTIPLE TIMES FOR REPAIRS FOR THE FUEL SYSTEM AT ANOTHER DEALERSHIP (BECAUSE I LOST CONFIDENCE IN THE DEALERSHIP OF PURCHASE). THE FUEL SYSTEM PROBLEM IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT STALLS, STOPS, AND SHUTS OFF IN TRAFFIC. 2.THE PASSENGER (RIGHT-REAR) TURN SIGNAL AND REVERSE LIGHT (RIGHT) WIRING HAD TO BE REPAIRED AND IS NOW OUT AGAIN ALSO VERY DANGEROUS WHEN PEOPLE DON'T KNOW YOU'RE TURNING RIGHT, WE'VE ALMOST BEEN REAR-ENDED SEVERAL TIMES DUE TO NOT HAVING A WORKING REAR SIGNAL. 3.THE LIFT GATE STOPPED WORKING 4.THE ENGINE SOUNDS ROUGH LIKE ITS READY TO SHUT OFF. MOST OF THESE ISSUES WERE REPORTED AND/OR REPAIRED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. NOW THAT THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED ALL OF THE COST ARE MY RESPONSIBILITY. A LOANER CAR IS NO LONGER AN OPTION SO I HAVE TO PAY FOR RENTALS OR MISS WORK. COPIES OF THE MANY ROADSIDE CALLS AND TOWS ATTACHED.
