POWER TRAIN

On Sunday, [XXX], my truck spontaneously burst into flames while parked in my front yard. I had just returned from doing a number of errands. The truck had been running fine with no indications of a problem. I was outside tending to my smoker when I heard a sort of popping/crackling noise. I looked up at my truck approximately 40 feet away and saw flames shooting out from the engine bay through the hood gaps. I called 911 and attempted to douse the flames with a powder fire extinguisher with no luck. By the time the fire department arrived 15 minutes later or so, the truck was fully involved and burnt to the frame. I didn't smell gasoline during the initial startup, but a strong smell of burning wires. The concerns are of course for my safety and that of my family. It was just luck that the truck was parked in the front yard rather than next to my house where it's normally parked. We were have a sidewalk put in and thus my normal parking space wasn't available. I could've been driving at the time and with the speed of this fire, I'm not confident I would've been able to get out. The truck has been seen by the insurance company and is being towed out of my yard sometime today May 29th, 2025. I don't know where it will towed to. I have pictures and videos detailing the fire and it's progression. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I am reporting a safety-related transmission problem I'm experiencing with my 2022 Ford F-150 equipped with the 10R80 automatic transmission. While driving normally, the transmission suddenly shakes violently downshifting from 6th to 5th gear and during upshifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. This occurs every single time while accelerating or braking, only in different gears , creating a potentially dangerous situation because the truck did not respond as expected when I needed predictable acceleration or deceleration. I believe this incident may be related to the known 10R80 CDF clutch-cylinder/sleeve problem. Ford technical information identifies axial movement of the CDF sleeve that can cause hydraulic-circuit leaks and harsh or delayed engagement and shifting. This condition can result in slipping, RPM flares, delayed engagement, unexpected gear changes, harsh downshifts, lurching, or loss of propulsion. This is a safety concern, not merely a transmission quality or reliability issue. Unexpected loss of propulsion or unpredictable shifting while merging, accelerating into traffic, crossing an intersection, turning, or traveling at highway speed can create a collision hazard. Also because this violent shaking startles the driver (lot of times it feels like the truck was hit by another car) and can provoke dangerous breaking. This shaking started in April and has not stopped ever since. Because I'm personally experiencing these unexpected transmission events, as well as my wife, I request that NHTSA investigate the 10R80 CDF clutch-cylinder/sleeve condition in Ford F-150s. Please review Ford warranty claims, dealer repair records, transmission replacements, consumer complaints, and field-failure data to determine whether this is a safety defect requiring a recall. I believe owners should not have to wait for a potentially dangerous transmission failure before this known condition is addressed.

I am reporting a safety-related transmission problem I experienced with my 2022 Ford F-150 equipped with the 10R80 automatic transmission. I am reporting a safety-related transmission problem I experienced with my 2022 Ford F-150 equipped with the 10R80 automatic transmission. While driving normally, the transmission suddenly did not engage when I turned a corner when in 2nd gear it disengaged and I coasted to side of road safely good thing there was no traffic. I then noticed that the transmission would slip (not hard just slightly 1st-5th gears). This has happened a few times especially when I first start moving. This is creating a potentially dangerous situation because the truck did not respond as expected when I needed predictable acceleration or propulsion. I believe this incident may be related to the known 10R80 CDF clutch-cylinder/sleeve problem. Vehicle in drive under normal daily driving conditions and vehicle suddenly lost power and stopped. Unable to restart vehicle and shifter is stuck in drive and does not shift to park. Similar to recall 22S43. According to dealership, they thought the issue occurred due to towing and assumed it was a electronic issue with the vehicle shifter. Prior to this incident, there was a strange type of kick back in the shifter but it never kicked out of gear though it seemed like it might. There were also warning dings that did not have any kind of message on the dash - it wasn't clear if this was tied to the shifter.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

My F150 will, on occasion, not accelerate when I am going slow and making a right turn. There are no fault lights, just the engine does nothing when I press the gas pedal. I coast to the intersection, apply the breaks, start the right turn, then press the accelerator to speed up. For about 6 seconds nothing happens (regardless of how hard I press the pedal), then the engine engages and the truck accelerates. I have mentioned this to my dealer several times, but they just keep explaining that they have not heard of the issue and they cannot replicate. I fear this may cause a serious accident if not resolved.

In April 2026 the recall on this truck was done to correct a fault for the Trailer Disconnect. I hooked up my travel trailer for the 1st time here in June and the false warning still came on 5 times during my trip. The software update that was done is not solving the problem. Warning light comes on, says trailer disconnected while the trailer is still connected and all connections are plugged in.

POWER TRAIN

Highway Incident: While traveling at highway speeds, a sudden evasive braking maneuver caused the truck to drop power. Upon attempting to re-accelerate, the throttle pedal went to the floor with zero response, and the vehicle continued to decelerate on an active highway. Multiple trailing vehicles had to make emergency maneuvers to swerve around the decelerating truck to avoid a high-speed, rear-end collision. Subsequent Incidents: The vehicle repeatedly forces an uncommanded speed limit of 11 mph while attempting to accelerate from a complete stop or merge from stop signs. This severe lack of predictable acceleration creates an immediate risk of being T-boned or rear-ended by cross-traffic, making the vehicle entirely unsafe to operate in normal traffic conditions. An authorized Ford dealership has confirmed the underlying failure of the hybrid system. They kept the vehicle for approximately one month to replace the entire hybrid drive unit. Following that repair, the vehicle was returned to the dealer a second time, where technicians confirmed a software communication failure between the electric and gas systems, attempting to resolve it by flashing/reprogramming the ECU. The vehicle’s hybrid system and software have been extensively inspected and worked on by manufacturer-certified technicians at an authorized Ford dealership. It has not been inspected by police or insurance, as no physical collision has occurred yet. No warning lamps or messages.

In the second year of ownership I noticed that occasionally I would get no throttle response from the gas pedal when trying to accelerate. After several occurrences I began to pay close attention as to when this was occurring. I found that this occurs mostly, not exclusively, when I am slowing the vehicle to a near stop, not a full stop and then accelerating to continue, like slowing to round a corner on a green light and getting into traffic. For example, I was exiting a Home Depot parking lot, the driveway exits to the roadway. As I approached the driveway to enter the roadway I slowed, preparing to stop. Seeing no traffic on the roadway I then pushed the accelerator to enter the roadway. The pedal was dead, I got absolutely no acceleration. I pushed the pedal down slowly, nothing. I pushed the pedal to the floor, nothing. The truck rolled out onto the road, I coasted to the side of the road. Had there been traffic I'd have been hit. This has happened 20 times in two years and 80K miles. The most recent event was this week with my wife present, very scary, dead pedal, not throttle response. If you research "Dead Pedal" on GOOGLE, you will get the following response: The "dead pedal" in the Ford F-150 PowerBoost—a dangerous lag or total loss of throttle response—is a widely reported issue, particularly when accelerating from low speeds, turning, or right after starting. [1, 2, 3] The cause can range from a software glitch to transmission issues or failing sensors. Ford said there was a TSB, however the work performed had no effect on the dead pedal on my truck. Invoice attached from March 2026, it just occurred again this week. I am going to trade the vehicle in but I doubt that Ford will disclose this flaw to the next buyer, it will be their's to discover, hopefully not by "accident". I am going to trade this vehicle in and I'm sure the new buyer will have no idea of this potentially deadly flaw.

When I started my 2022 Ford F-150 equipped with the Bang & Olufsen (B&O) sound system, a sudden extremely loud “sonic boom” noise came through the speakers without warning. The sound was so intense it caused immediate pain in my ears, and I am concerned about the possibility of permanent hearing damage. This occurred at startup, before I adjusted any audio settings. This is a serious safety hazard because: The volume level was far beyond normal operation. It caused physical harm (ear pain). Such an unexpected loud noise could startle the driver, leading to loss of vehicle control. I believe this defect poses a risk of injury and should be investigated.

I was driving down the road and heard a loud clunking noise. Then I had lost power and the rear wheels were spinning out of control. There was a grinding/spinning/whirring noise coming from beneath the vehicle, sounded like from behind. I was fortunately able to regain control of the vehicle by shifting it into 4WD and avoided an accident. I brought the Vehicle to Gaudin Ford for repair and was informed it was a recalled part failure recall number 23S65. I had previously requested the recall repairs to be performed during routine maintenance, but was informed parts were not available. At this time, I've been 6 weeks without my truck and there is no end in site. It was insinuated that they might not even be making this part anymore, but the Ford recall center was unable to confirm or refute this. In the interim, I do not have a suitable replacement. I have been provided a small vehicle as a loaner, but I am unable to use this to drive >50 mile radius, I can't leave the state, can't loan it to my children, can't tow or haul. All the things I need my truck for, I'm unable to do. Either, I need access to a rental with similar capability to my truck without all the restrictions, or fix the truck in a timely manner, or provide me a suitable loaner without all the restrictions, or buy back my truck, or something. Instead I feel like I'm being held hostage by a company who is refusing to fulfill the recall responsibility in a timely and suitable manner. I have contacted the dealer, Ford customer service, and the Ford recall center on numerous occasions and have been told that other than getting an update when the part is available, there's nothing else they can do.
