The contact owns a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. While the contact's daughter was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle independently accelerated. The brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the failure occurred while the vehicle was being parked in the residence driveway. The vehicle crashed into the right side of the residence before coming to a stop. The air bags did not deploy. The contact stated that the right side of the garage was damaged. No injuries were sustained. The contact stated that the failure was a known failure with the vehicle. The contact stated that an unknown recall with a similar failure was completed in 2022. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard. The vehicle was deemed a total loss by the insurance company. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

Description On your vehicle, the integrated park module ipm may not properly engage the park pawl, preventing the vehicle from locking into park when park p is selected. If this condition occurs, a wrench light and shift system fault message will be displayed in the instrument panel cluster. Additionally, the vehicles electronic parking brake epb will automatically apply. Safety Risk If the park pawl is not properly engaged and the electronic parking brake - epb - is not applied, your vehicle may experience a roll-in-park, increasing the risk of a crash. Remedy A remedy is not yet available. Ford Motor Company is working to provide software for this repair. When the remedy becomes available, Ford Motor Company will notify you via mail to schedule a service appointment with your dealer for repairs to be completed free of charge. The remedy is anticipated to be available July 10, 2026. Recall service not available right now. We have a remedy but parts are not available right now. I was driving normally at about 45 mph with no strong acceleration, after about 20 minutes of driving... Then Cross Traffic Alert, Crash Alert, ABS Failure Alert, Parking Brake Fault Alert, and probably more alerts suddenly went off while driving. Warning Lights for all these features stayed on, and I completely lost regenerative braking and power braking. I'm not sure if I lost anything else because I immediately pulled over, having to stand on the brakes to slowly stop. Once at a stop, I put it in park and warnings about parking brake faults continued to go off. I turned off the car, and warning about a parking brake fault continued to go off. I waited a few seconds and then opened the door to force the normal system shutdown. I pressed the brake and hit the start button again, but it didn't seem to recognize that I had pressed the brake and started in accessory (ACC) mode. After a few more second, I pressed the brake again and hit the start button (while still in ACC Mode), and the vehicle moved to full running mode without all of the warnings. This situation could have easily resulted in a full crash if I were driving at a faster speed and/or if I required immediate stopping.

Vehicle stated "PARKING BRAKE FAULT". Driver (myself) discovered electric parking brake was stuck in the ON position and would not disengage. Vehicle could not be moved on its wheels. Vehicle was in parking garage, and driver became stranded for over 24 hours waiting for a low-clearance tow truck with a dolly that could move the vehicle. Ford dealer (Bill Brown Ford) inspected vehicle and discovered wiring immediately behind BOTH rear electric parking brake connectors were corroded and broken. Ford dealer stated there was an active recall for this issue (CSP 22P31 or TSB 22-2143), but that my vehicle's build date was not included. CSP 22P31 only includes build dates before 15 March 2022; Driver's vehicle has a build date of 24 June 2022. Ford dealer stated they repaired the vehicle by completing the procedures defined in recall CSP 22P31, but Ford did not cover the costs or acknoledge it as a recall repair due to the build date. tl;dr: The critical safety defect defined in Ford recall CSP 22P31 affects vehicles built in July 2022, but Ford has not expanded the recall to cover these vehicles. In this case, the corrosion led to DUAL failure of both rear electrical parking brake connectors, causing two exposed electrical circuits and lock-up of the parking brake.

While I was driving the brakes did not work. I had to slam on the brakes in order to stop the car. The back portion of the car then skid. The following warnings were sent to the phone and appeared on the dashboard as well. There were more on the dashboard but since I was driving I focused on trying to maneuver the car and not reading the dashboard. Not knowing what happened I continued to drive to duplicate the issue. The brakes were consistently only working when slamming on the brakes (and skidding). There was no traffic, allowing us to rely on driving slow speeds and letting the car to come to natural stops. We took it to the dealership immediately who were unable to duplicate. They diagnosed it as a network overload and attempted to release the car back to us. Currently working with a Ford Advocate as a Network Overload will shut our brakes off again. It's just a matter of when. Which is why they can't duplicate it. They can't predict when the Ford Network that communicates to the MachE braking mechanism will overload again. was driving my 2022 Mustang Mach-E in "One-Pedal" Whisper mode on. I always drive in that mode because it has a great feature where as soon as I take my foot off the accelerator the car slows down significantly. I feel safer in this mode especially in high traffic or on the freeway. I was very slowly turning into a parking spot in a private parking lot, stepped on brake to put car into Park when the car lurched forward without me touching anything, I had no control of my car no matter how hard I pressed on the brake. My car was driving itself!! when it lurched forward it hit a car parked directly in front of it on its right front side then pushing that vehicle about 2 feet! it did not stop even then, it veered to the right and forward and hit another parked car in the next parking space to the first car that was hit. My car pushed the 2nd car about 2-3 feet before it stopped almost hitting the car parked next to it!! There was an eye witness. This event scared me to death. It was as if someone else was driving my car. I had absolutely NO CONTROL of it. It would NOT STOP. I am soo grateful this happened in a parking lot and not in fast traffic or God forbid the freeway. I would not get back inside my car and never will. We had it towed to a certified repair shop. My car sustained front end & right side front damage. The first car hit sustained right front damage. The 2nd car hit was parked next to the first car hit and sustained right front & right side passenger door damage. No injury. The repair shop has a certified EV Specialist who is going to read the recorder to see how it malfunctioned. There was a police report but haven't received it as of yet. We contacted Ford where we purchased our car. They told us it would be better once repaired to sell the car ourselves as it could take a very long time for Ford to agree to buy it back my car back! only has $9,000 miles on it!! I hope Ford takes this issue seriously!!!

The Mustang Mach-E Select has three driving modes. From least to most aggressive in terms of acceleration, they are Whisper, Engage, and Unbridle. When driving in 1-pedal mode where removing your foot from the accelerator causes the car to brake, the strongest application of brakes is in Whisper mode as well. It’s not aggressive, but it will bring the car to a stop over a shorter distance. There is a known and reported problem among drivers, shared often in driver forums like Reddit, where vehicles will change to Engage mode from either Whisper or Unbridle. Over a year ago, I first noticed my car doing this on a downhill exit from a highway to a stoplight. I engaged the brake when I realized I was approaching the stopped car in front of me faster than I should. Over the past 16 months, I’ve experienced this at least twice a month, with no way I’ve been able to discern of predicting when it will happen. I drive the car in the most energy-using and highest energy-recovering mode. I am well aware that the braking might change at any time, but am concerned my wife, who drives the car less than I do, or some other Mustang Mach-E driver will rear-end another vehicle by realizing too late the car is not slowing as expected. I’ve told my dealer, I called Ford, now I’m notifying you in the hopes you can get Ford to issue a software fix. This was something I just noticed again pulling in to my garage solely because I was showing my wife something, and I realized I had the time to report it. The vehicle parking brake engaged as expected when parked, but would not disengage. Vehicle became inoperable and required a tow to the Ford Dealership. Ford confirmed the cause of the issue was related to a wiring fault, similar to the 2021 and 2022 model years which resulted in Ford issuing Customer Satisfaction Program 22P31. In addition, this failure caused the brake booster module to fail preventing the parking brake from engaging correctly after the wiring was repaired.

After parking the vehicle, when returning to the vehicle the parking brake would not disengage. The computer reported Parking Brake Fault Service Immediately. Vehicle was not able to be moved and required a tow to the shop as a result. The vehicle is currently being serviced, but speaking with the dealership this is somewhat of a known issue. Parking brake malfunction indicated. Ford CSP 22P31 covers repair of the issue for vehichles with a manufacture date before 3/15/22. My vehicle reached the US on 6/22/22. Ford has offered to cover a small part of the repair, but won't include me in the fix due to manufacture date. So Ford ended the program, NEVER FIXED THE ISSUE, and now won't offer to repair my car.

I was backing out of a parking spot in a strip mall, when I changed the gear to Drive, and moved forward by a foot. I felt a bump, as I appeared to have hit some obstruction on the left underside of the vehicle (likely a low curb/island). After that, I lost control of the vehicle - the car accelerated very hard, and I tried to stop the car, but it was not responding to my brake input. I crashed into a stationary vehicle, which deflected my car to a storefront wall. The total distance travelled from when the sudden acceleration started to the crash against the wall, was probably 20 - 30 feet (and not in a straight line). But the impact was severe enough to have deployed the air bags and the car is considered totalled. Besides the sudden acceleration which did not happen on my input, and the inability of the car to stop based on my brake input, neither did the Forward Collision Warning go off, nor did the Automatic Emergency Braking turn on, to prevent the crash.

On January 15 I took my car to Tasca Ford for the "10,000 check up and NYS Inspection. I was given paperwork confirming that the car was functioning properly . On January 17, 2026 my parked, unoccupied 2024 Ford mach E crashed into my parents garage door. I brought the car back to Tasca on January 19 and again was told nothing was wrong with my brakes. I then took the car to an independent mechanic who confirmed the brakes were faulty. I also received a notice in the Ford App that there was a recall for my car. I called Ford to tell them about my accident and that I needed a loaner car. They first denied the recall then told they had "No remedy" at this time I had to contact the dealership. Tasca was still denying a recall and would not give me a loaner. On February 13, 2026 the car rolled out of park and hit an unoccupied car. I now have a rental car through Geico but only for 30 days.

Electronic parking brake failure after Massachusetts snow storms and salt. Car is currently at dealership so yes it’s available for inspection at Sentry Ford Medford MA. Yes it’s been reproduced. I was lucky it did not fail engaged so I was able to drive it. Early production 2023 but ford did not recall this model year. Same problem as csp 22p31. Ford currently is not covering this repair even just 500 miles over factory warranty even though all model years around it have the recall. As for the automatic emergency braking it may stop you very short, and hitting the pedal does not override the braking system. Car jerks and seems confused in this situation. I keep turning it off, but the car keeps putting it back on against my wishes. Extremely concerning as it should stay off.

I am responsible for transporting him, and we rely on having a safe and dependable vehicle. The unresolved brake defect makes me uncomfortable driving the vehicle, yet I have no alternative transportation. Ford Credit has declined to assist with a buyback, and the dealership cannot offer a repair because no remedy exists. I am requesting NHTSA’s assistance in ensuring Ford provides a timely remedy or appropriate support (such as a loaner vehicle or buyback) so that my family is not placed at risk due to an unresolved safety defect.

"Parking Brake Fault - Service Now" warning appeared. Parking brakes locked after stopping vehicle. Dealer diagnosed problem as corroded wiring connector to left rear wheel parking brake motor. Diag and replace left rear parking brake actuator pigtail. Corrosion and breaking of the wire, causing the parking brake to be stuck. This was a recall on the earlier models (2022), and seems to be an ongoing issue. It is not covered under warranty over 36k miles.
