POWER TRAIN

My 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E suffered a total loss of motive power on the road, throwing code P0D10:00:AF for a stuck-open high-voltage contactor. This is the exact failure mode of Safety Recall 23S56. Ford is refusing to cover the repair because my VIN was omitted from the database and the vehicle is at 108,017 miles, treating a hazardous powertrain defect as an out-of-warranty consumer expense. I have an active case number with Ford.

POWER TRAIN

While driving my 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E, the front electric drive unit failed suddenly with no warning signs, warning lights, unusual noises, or any prior indication of a problem. During the failure, multiple fault messages appeared on the instrument cluster, including warnings that disabled adaptive cruise control and indicated the all-wheel-drive system was no longer functioning. The vehicle began to vibrate severely, feeling as though it was driving over rumble strips. As I slowed down, the front of the vehicle became extremely clunky and exhibited abnormal drivetrain behavior. Shortly afterward, the vehicle became undrivable and could no longer be operated under its own power. It had to be towed to a Ford dealership, where I was informed that the front electric drive assembly had failed and required replacement. This is the second time this exact component has failed on the same vehicle. The first front electric drive assembly failed at approximately 33,000 miles and was replaced under warranty. The second failure occurred at approximately 102,000 miles with no warning. I believe this repeated and sudden failure of a critical drivetrain component presents a significant safety concern because it can leave drivers stranded without warning and results in an unexpected loss of propulsion while operating the vehicle in traffic.

The contact owns a 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle became inoperable and the vehicle stalled, and the gear shifter was inoperable. The contact exited the vehicle and was unable to re-enter the vehicle because the doors were locked and failed to unlock. The messages "Service Now" and "Battery Management" were displayed on the instrument panel. The pre-collision sensor warning light and several other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The failure had occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was towed to the residence, and the batteries were replaced. The contact researched the issue and became aware of an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was determined that the battery management system needed to be reset. The vehicle was repaired, and the dealer advised the contact to drive the vehicle for 30-40 miles. However, after approximately 3 miles, the message "Stop Now" was displayed on the instrument panel, and the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

On 6/4, I completed a long road trip of over 650 miles. When I got back into my vehicle to move it to where it would be parked for the night, it displayed messages for a Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power and a High Voltage Battery Warning. I powered the car off and back on within about 5 minutes, and the messages were still being displayed. I connected a code scanner to the car and the car had stored codes P0D0F and P0AA4. Both of these codes indicated a fault with the High Voltage Battery Junction Box, a known issue with the Mustang Mach E. I was able to drive the car to a dealer the next day without incident but am wary of trusting the vehicle to make the same trip back home.

While I was driving the brakes did not work. I had to slam on the brakes in order to stop the car. The back portion of the car then skid. The following warnings were sent to the phone and appeared on the dashboard as well. There were more on the dashboard but since I was driving I focused on trying to maneuver the car and not reading the dashboard. Not knowing what happened I continued to drive to duplicate the issue. The brakes were consistently only working when slamming on the brakes (and skidding). There was no traffic, allowing us to rely on driving slow speeds and letting the car to come to natural stops. We took it to the dealership immediately who were unable to duplicate. They diagnosed it as a network overload and attempted to release the car back to us. Currently working with a Ford Advocate as a Network Overload will shut our brakes off again. It's just a matter of when. Which is why they can't duplicate it. They can't predict when the Ford Network that communicates to the MachE braking mechanism will overload again. The exact failed component is unknown to me at this time, but the issue appears related to the vehicle’s electrical system. Prior to the incident, I received a charging error notification while the vehicle was plugged in. I unplugged the charger from the wall outlet, waited briefly, and plugged it back in. Later that same day, the vehicle entered a no-start condition and would not start despite repeated attempts over approximately two hours. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The vehicle left me stranded at night for approximately two hours without warning. Because the vehicle would not start, I was unable to reliably move or operate the vehicle. Depending on location, weather conditions, surrounding traffic, and other circumstances or emergency situations, this type of failure could place occupants and other drivers at risk. Additionally, I previously reported a separate safety-related incident involving this same vehicle in February 2026 in which the vehicle suddenly and unexpectedly accelerated in my daughter’s daycare parking lot. This has not been reproduced. The vehicle unexpectedly started and operated again at approximately the same time the tow truck arrived, after remaining inoperable for roughly two hours. Because the issue resolved itself without repair, it’s not clear what the root cause is. The vehicle has not yet been inspected. The vehicle has remained garaged following the incident pending further evaluation and communication with Ford. There were some warnings. Prior to operating the vehicle that evening, I received a charging error notification while the vehicle was plugged in. After unplugging and reconnecting the charger, the vehicle later experienced the no-start condition. During the incident, the vehicle provided no clear indication through the vehicle interface or mobile app explaining why it would not start, only “Stop safely now.”

POWER TRAIN

The vehicle experiences a drivability issue where it stalls or loses power and is not safe to operate. The vehicle is currently undrivable and has been at the dealership for nearly one month without a completed diagnosis or repair. The dealership has indicated a possible powertrain or transmission-related issue, but no confirmed repair has been completed. Additionally, there is an active safety recall associated with the vehicle that has not been repaired multiple notifications. This situation poses a safety risk and remains unresolved despite repeated follow-ups.

POWER TRAIN

Vehicle experienced immediate loss of motive power while in motion at 45 mph after "Stop Safely Now" alert. This is a repeat power failure. The vehicle was in service for 75+ days (Dec-Feb) for this exact defect. The Ford service center said they replaced the “battery controller” yet the issue recurred. The car previously flagged this alert while in motion 2 times prior (one on the highway going ~65mph and on another major street going roughly ~45 mph). As a Ford Reacquired Vehicle (Buyback), the failure to resolve this catastrophic electrical fault creates an extreme risk of crash and entrapment in traffic, putting myself, my family and the drivers in vicinity at significant safety risk. The car is currently at a different Ford Service Center. They have been able to reproduce the issue and are currently running diagnostics to identify a resolution.

File against: Ford Motor Company Vehicle: 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E VIN: [XXX] Safety Complaint While driving, the vehicle unexpectedly slowed down, lost power, and became inoperable, creating a serious safety hazard. I was able to pull over safely, but the sudden loss of motive power occurred during active roadway conditions. Dealer diagnosis identified a wiring harness connector failure affecting communication between vehicle control modules. After the repair, the same issue reoccurred within one to two days, again causing loss of power. The vehicle is currently back at the dealership, and the underlying defect has not yet been permanently resolved. This recurring electrical failure represents a loss-of-motive-power safety risk that may indicate a broader wiring harness defect affecting vehicle reliability and safety. POWER TRAIN

On Saturday, [XXX], while driving under normal conditions, the vehicle experienced a sudden and complete loss of propulsion without warning. There was no reduced-power mode, no dashboard alert, and no mobile app notification prior to shutdown. The vehicle was subsequently inspected by a Ford dealership. The technician identified an intermittent software-related condition consistent with Ford TSB 26-2005, which documents a fault capable of draining the 12-volt electrical system during vehicle operation. The technician stated the 12-volt battery is not believed to be the root cause. The loss of propulsion occurred while the vehicle was in motion and resulted in a full shutdown. The condition was not preceded by any driver warning or controlled degradation. No driver warning was received after shutdown. I am requesting immediate escalation regarding my 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E (VIN: [XXX] ), which is currently undrivable due to being stuck in “Power Accessory Active” mode. The vehicle will not enter Drive. The dealer has diagnosed DCEM / high-voltage system-related faults and stated that recall repairs cannot be completed unless I first pay approximately $3,000 to repair the “main battery.” My concern is that the symptoms and failure mode exactly match the known High-Voltage Battery Junction Box / DCEM defect described in Ford Safety Recall 23S56, including: •Vehicle unable to drive •High-voltage system refusing to close contactors •Vehicle remaining in accessory power mode •Safety-related loss of motive power While my VIN may not be currently listed as eligible for these recalls, my vehicle is exhibiting identical symptoms and failure modes associated with the following Ford safety recalls: •HV Battery Junction Box / DCEM defect (Recall 23S56) •Powertrain / Software Update (Recall 22S29) •12-Volt Battery / Door Latch Entrapment Risk (Recall 25S65) It is important to note that other Mustang Mach-E owners have reported the same recall-related failures even when their VINs were not listed for these recalls. These failures involve contactor issues, loss of motive power, and vehicles being stuck in accessory mode — identical to the symptoms my vehicle is experiencing. Given that my vehicle is experiencing a safety-related loss of motive power, Given the safety implications and known defect history, I request that this matter be reviewed. Summary: My 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT has repeatedly experienced a complete and unexpected loss of propulsion while driving in active traffic. Each time, the vehicle displayed a red “Stop Safely Now” warning with additional critical alerts, followed by an immediate loss of forward motion with no prior indication. This left the vehicle stalled in traffic and created a significant safety hazard. Details of Each Incident: While driving under normal conditions or coming to a stop, the vehicle triggered the red “Stop Safely Now” alert with powertrain and brake warnings. Propulsion shut down instantly and the vehicle locked in Park, leaving it immobilized in traffic lane. I had to exit the vehicle and wait for it to complete a full power-down cycle before it would restart. After restarting, the vehicle operated with reduced functionality and limited range. Ford Roadside Assistance was contacted for every incident. Safety Concern: A sudden loss of forward motion in moving traffic poses a serious crash risk to me and to other drivers. The repeated nature of this failure suggests a defect in the propulsion system, sensors, electrical components or related modules. Current Status: The vehicle is now at the local Ford dealership for evaluation. I have also notified Ford Corporate Customer Care. The root cause has not yet been identified or resolved. Requested Action: I request that NHTSA document this complaint and consider further review due to the recurring safety-related failure and the potential risk to other owners.

My name is [XXX] , and I am formally reporting an unacceptable and irresponsible delay regarding my Ford Mustang Mach-E (VIN: [XXX] ), serviced at Group 1 Ford of Southwest Houston (formerly Sterling McCall Ford). My vehicle is only 1.5 years old, yet the clear-coat paint has already deteriorated, and the vehicle is also subject to an official Ford recall. I reported both issues to the dealer more than two months ago. Despite multiple calls and follow-ups, the service department continues giving me the same unacceptable excuse: “We cannot take your vehicle because we do not have a loaner car available.” This is completely unreasonable. This is a recall, and refusal to accept my car due to a lack of loaner vehicles is not my responsibility — it is a failure of Ford and the dealer to provide required support. As a result: •My recall remains unresolved •The paint defect continues to worsen •I have no scheduled service date •I have been told to “wait indefinitely” with no solution This level of customer support is unprofessional, unacceptable, and harmful to the Ford brand. My Demands I request immediate corporate intervention: 1.A guaranteed service appointment without any further delay 2.A loaner vehicle or alternative transportation solution provided by Ford 3.Full repair of the recall and the paint clear-coat defect under warranty 4.Written confirmation of Ford’s next steps if the dealer continues refusing to accept my vehicle If this is not resolved immediately, I will escalate the issue to: •NHTSA (for failure to resolve an active recall), •Texas DMV / Consumer Protection, and •Public consumer platforms. I expect a response within 48 hours. Sincerely, [XXX] [XXX] Email: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I have taken my car to the dealership is three different occasions and reported problems with the screens (they go black, even when driving), rear-view image missing, proximity sensor malfunctioning (beeps even when there are no objects or cars around) and the driving assistance system (constantly disengages and reports it, without intervention). Additionally, I've read that the recalls talks about a possible lock-out issue that could put my children well-being at risk and I'm aware of issues with the doors of the vehicle. Despite the multiple reports and trips to the repair department these problems are still present and this last time my car has been retained at the dealership for over a week without any update or ETA for fixing the problem and I'm being told my only option would be get a new car and start my financing all over
