2020 GMC Sierra 2500 Gainesville, GA Fire

VISIBILITY/WIPER

The rear defroster massively overheated. It started heavily smoking and eventually exploded the rear windows. Only warning sign was the smoke which we noticed quickly because the windows were up. Had the windows been down we might not have noticed before a fire started. I'm taking it to a dealership now. This module also triggers on from a remote start. Extremely dangerous!!!

2018 GMC Sierra 2500 Miami, FL

VISIBILITY/WIPER

The component that failed is the rear glass. Yes, it is available for inspection. The rear glass defogger stopped working and melted the tabs off of the glass and burned the tabs cover. The problem has been confirmed by the dealership and i was advised there is already a recall for this but apparently my vin does not fall under the recall.

2023 GMC Sierra 2500 Buckeye, AZ

VISIBILITY/WIPER

No incident as of yet. The wide angle driver mirror cannot be set high enough to see down the side of the truck. It is a factory installed towing mirror. I have to lower my my seat all of the way and I cannot see the top rail of the bed. The mirror won't let me see down the side of the truck which makes it really dangerous when I pull my 32' fifth wheel trailer. I took it to the dealer and they told me at first ( I purchased the truck on 01-22-2023) the mirror is one of 6 items that warranty doesn't cover. Then they told me it is very difficult to get the manufacturer to authorize replacement. The dealer eye balled a mirror just from standing in front of it on a lot truck and said he couldn't see a difference. All I can see out of it is basically is the rear tire. I called GM and the person looking into it was transferred after about a week. The person that took over asked me to give him a week to look into it. He called me today and said he hasn't had a chance yet that he needs a couple of more days.

2022 GMC Sierra 2500 at 6,931 miles Lemon Grove, CA

VISIBILITY:SUN/MOON ROOF ASSEMBLY

The contact's brother owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 2500. The contact stated that while her brother was driving 30 MPH in cold weather, he activated the heat and the moon roof exploded. The contact's brother opened the moon roof cover, and glass entered the cabin of the vehicle, falling on his arms. The contact's brother did not sustain any injuries. The contact stated that there was no impact to the moon roof that could have caused the moon roof to explode. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that there had been an impact on the moon roof, causing the moon roof to explode. The dealer replaced the moon roof. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file an insurance claim for the failure. The issue was currently in arbitration. The failure mileage was approximately 6,931.

2016 GMC Sierra 2500 Kansas City, MO

VISIBILITY/WIPER

I remote started my truck yesterday morning to get it warmed up before loading my family. They all then got into the truck, my 5 year old and 8 year old in the back seat in booster seats. I threw in some more bags into the back of the truck and started to climb into the truck. As I did that my kids were starting to get nervous and my wife was pointing and stating that the rear window slider was smoking. I put the key into the ignition and turned the key on. Upon doing that the smoke stopped but a few seconds later there was a loud bang, similar to a gun shot, and the rear passenger side window shattered. My 8 year old had glass hit her and my 5 year old was hysterical. Needless to say, the 5 hour drive home was not much fun for anyone after that occured.

2018 GMC Sierra 2500 Pueblo West, CO

VISIBILITY/WIPER

Both the outside mirrors are loose and will fold while driving. At night if I am not aware and it is dark the mirror fails to identify vehicles in the visibility area because they vibrate closed to the door from the driving air on the mirror. I will have to pull over and push the mirror back. I have brought it to the dealer and they say they all do it. It is normal. The issues has been confirmed by the dealer. It has been present on the car for about 1 year. The internet is filled with this safety complaint. They are starting to fold when you close the door.
